7. Al-A’raf /The Elevated

7. Al-A’raf /The Elevated

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

07:01
Alif. Lam. Mim. Sad.
07:02
This Book - The Qur’an - is being sent down on to you O The Prophet.
So let there be no distress in your heart due to this.
While you are to warn the disbelieving audience through it,
this is a Reminder to the believers.
07:03
O The People!
Follow what is being sent down on to you by your Rabb - The Lord, and
do not follow the whims of others or take others for worship apart from HIM.
Yet little you understand and follow.
07:04
And how many of habitations have WE destroyed before!
So it happened that OUR Punishment came upon them suddenly - either by the night or
while they were in the midst of their noon-nap.
07:05
And when OUR Punishment finally overtook them, they had nothing to say, except crying out:
‘We have indeed been unfair’ to ourselves by sinning!
07:06
It will be during the Time of the Final Judgment that WE will certainly question those to whom WE had assigned OUR Messengers if they followed their teachings, and
WE will also question the Messengers if they had conveyed OUR Message and how did the people respond to it.
07:07
WE will definitely recount their deeds and dealings to them with knowledge and accuracy,
for WE were never absent from their midst!
07:08
And at The Time of the Final Judgment, the weighing of their deeds and dealings will be
fair and just.

Then whose deeds of righteousness will be heavier than their bad deeds on the scales,
those –...

Impact of Military Wars/Conflicts on Pakistan-India Relations

South Asia and Indian subcontinent have historically been regions of geo-strategic importance. They have been the most sought-after territories for every major World Player in each era. As a result of independence from the British in 1947, Pakistan and India emerged as two sovereign states, however, at loggerheads with each other since their very inception. The two countries have fought four deadly wars (1947-48, 1965 & 1971), including one (Kargil) after attaining the status of nuclear powers. One commonality in all these wars has been the unresolved Kashmir Issue, which remains the sorest point in the Pak-India ties to-date. These wars and many others military conflicts have resulted in the breach of peace for the region causing a much-feared nuclear threat, economic losses, disruption of social and cultural ties etc. For greater world peace, Pakistan and India need to resolve their differences/issues through bilateral negotiations, as war is no solution to any problem. For this purpose, political leadership of both the countries will have to intelligently carve out a plan to achieve the objective of peace and tranquility in the region. Both the countries need to realize that neighbours cannot be wished away. Peace in South Asia is synonymous to peace in the world.

Genetic Diversity of Metallo-Β-Lactamases in Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter

Antibiotic resistant pathogens cannot be restricted to geographic boundaries, therefore, antibiotic resistance (ABR) is not a problem of a particular area, region or country but it is a global threat and anyone can be suffered with infections without treatment options. ABR has been recognized as complex global public health task which requires adoption of multiple approaches to control and overcome this challenge, especially for Acinetobacter sp. and Pseudomonas sp. These two organisms remained unattended even in AMR global report on surveillance by WHO. Lately, isolation of Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas with higher frequencies from hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and emergence of highly resistant strains including XDR and even PDR evoked the interests of clinicians towards these pathogens. Consequently, in 2017, WHO also recognized these bugs as high priority threats to human health. Keeping in view the severity of the problems caused by drug resistant strains of Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas, present study targeted them by isolating from patients admitted in ICUs along with few other strains. The isolates were identified by traditional as well, highly sensitive method, matrix assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS). So far, identification of Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter isolates by MALDI-TOF-MS has not been reported from Pakistan. This method enabled us to identify few rare species of Pseudomonas including P. balearica, P. otitidis, and P. fulva. These species are mostly reported from marine environment, food samples and ear infections. Yet the pathogenic role of these strains was not explored in this study as routine testing across the country does not identify them.
