نواب رحمت اﷲ خاں شروانی مرحوم
۱۰؍ جنوری کی صبح علی گڑھ سے برادرم ڈاکٹر جمشید ندوی نے خبردی کہ نواب رحمت اﷲ خاں شروانی نے آخر شب قریب ساڑھے چار بجے داعی اجل کو لبیک کہا، اناﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون۔
خودنمائیوں کی جستجو میں مصروف اس دنیا کو کیسے بتایا جائے کہ جانے والا کون تھا؟ کبھی ہمارے صاحب دل شاعر نے بزم دہلی کا نوحہ کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ:
؂ یادگار بزم دہلی ایک حالی رہ گیا
افسوس اب علی گڑھ کی بزم دوشیں کی یہ یادگار بھی اٹھ گئی جس نے علم نوازی اور علم پروری کی ان روایات کو مدۃالعمر زندہ و تابندہ رکھا جن کا ذکر اب شاید ماضی کی داستانوں میں ملتا ہے۔
نواب صاحب نے قریب بیاسی سال کی عمر پائی، ۱۶؍ فروری ۲۹ء میں پیدا ہوئے، بھیکم پور کی ریاست گومملکت نہ تھی تاہم ۳۶۵ قریوں اور قصبات کی ملکیت، نوابی کے تمام معروف مظاہر کے لیے کم بھی نہیں، لیکن شروانی خاندان نے حکومت و سطوت کی ظاہر علامتوں سے بیزاری پر اپنی قدروں کی استواری کو ترجیح دی، عمل داری رہی تو علم و حلم اور جود و سخاوت کی، رحمت اﷲ شروانی مرحوم کی تربیت اسی ماحول میں ہوئی، تعلیم کے لیے وہ مشہور دون اسکول ضرور گئے لیکن صحت کی ناسازی کی وجہ سے یہ تعلیم تکمیل کے مراحل تک نہ پہنچ سکی، البتہ علم پرور ماحول نے ان کو علم شناسی کی ایسی دولت دی جس سے وہ ہمیشہ پرثروت رہے اور دوسروں کو بھی تونگر بناتے رہے، مال و زر کی جگہ بہترین کتابوں سے ان کا خزانہ بیش قیمت ہوتا رہا اور یہ دوسروں پر بھی نچھاور ہوتا گیا۔ ان کے والد کے متعلق کہا جاتا ہے کہ وہ سرسید کی گود میں کھیل کر جواں ہوئے تھے، قدرتاً...

Inequalities in Islamic State and Society: A Critical Review on the Thoughts of Bernard Lewis

Islam and the West are two competitor civilizations of 21st century. West is much fear by the rapid expansion of Islam. It is imagined that very soon Islam is going to become a major religion of the Europe. Now European think tanks are constantly working to present a negative picture of Islam. Bernard Lewis is trying his best to prove that Islam is not a suitable civilization and religion for the world. As there are different classes of citizens within Islamic State and society and all the citizens are not equal in Islamic teachings and practice like women, slaves and Non-Muslims. Whereas, his presented theories are quite different than real teachings and practice of Islam. All the citizens of Islamic State are equal before law but there is difference of responsibilities according to their abilities. This article is presenting a critical and real discussion about the social inequalities blamed by Bernard Lewis, existing in Islamic state and society.

Analytical Study of Community Development Programs for Socio-Economic Development in Pakistan

According to Sustainable Development Policy Institute (2014), Pakistan "58.7 million people in Pakistan are living in multidimensional poverty with 46 per cent of rural population and 18 per cent of urban households falling below the poverty line." Practices of International Development have flagged community development programs as means to improve the living standard of people. Community development programs can provide opportunities to local people to improve the socio-economic conditionandalso use the existing recourses in better way. It is an approach that aims to bring about the changes in the Society. These changes are actually planned at development of the Society. It aims at all-around development people. It means at involving people, particularly of the areas in the development activities. The most broadly understood definition of the term was developed by United Nation organization: " Community Development refers to the process by which the efforts of the people themselves are united with those Governmental authorities to improve the economic social and cultural conditions of the nation and to enable them to contribute fully to national progress”. The development proposes that the emerging nations move through a series of phases of evolution towards modernization is on the basis of social , political and economic stabilization. Nowadays in the world, every country considers community development as an important approach for public development ,therefore; every country attempts to implement several programs of community development to improve the living standard of communities. Community development concept has been adopted rapidly by a variety ofdonor agencies as well as by many national governments in the world. A number of modest national community development programs were implemented primarily in British Africa around 1948. The first major community development program was initiated in India in 1952 with the support from Ford Foundation and the United States Foreign Economic Assistance Agencies. From the inception of Pakistan up to the present day, Government of Pakistan and Internationaland National Non- Government Organizations(NGOs) have implemented a number ofcommunity development programs in whole country as means to develop the living standard of people in the country. This thesis explores the impacts and contributions of community development programs for socio- economic development in Pakistan. The study includes case studies, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with Government officials ,NGOs staff and beneficiaries in the field. Recommendations will be made as to the best practices of community development programs for policy makers and NGOs to improve the living standard of people in the country.
