Everyone has a distinct style of thinking and learning. Because of individual differences, the cognitive learning style of every individual is different. Cognition explains an individual''s usual mode of perceiving, thinking, remembering, or solving problem. Cognitive learning style is typically explained as a personality aspect which influences values, social interaction, and attitude. Researches have revealed that cognitive learning styles and attitude are joint contributors to behavior. This study was designed to understand, identify and compare cognitive learning styles and science related attitude of undergraduate science students, to compare science related attitudes of science students with respect to cognitive learning styles, to find relationship of cognitive learning styles with science related attitude and academic achievement, to find relationship between science related attitude and academic achievement of undergraduate science students. The population of the study consisted of all undergraduate science students of basic sciences (physics, mathematics, and bio sciences), computer sciences, and engineering sciences (electrical and computer engineering) of public and private sector universities/Degree Awarding Institutes of Islamabad. For sample selection, stratified random sampling was used. The data was collected using demographic inventory, Hidden Figure Test (SHAPES) and convergent/divergent test. A self-developed science related attitude questionnaire was used to identify student’s science related attitude. The academic results of students were obtained from the respective universities/Degree awarding institutes. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. Frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used for data analysis. The hypotheses were tested using Chi-Square and t-tests at 5 percent level of significance. Results were presented in tabular and graphical form. The findings revealed that Field-Dependent and convergent cognitive learning style have been found the most prevailing cognitive learning styles of science students at undergraduate level. Moreover the Field-Independent and divergent learners have more science related attitude and academic achievement than other learners. The findings also revealed that cognitive learning styles have positive relationship with science related attitude and academic achievement. It has been recommended that teachers must use varied teaching methods and provide academic and career guidance to the students so that they can be motivated to develop more positive science related attitude towards the study of science and may improve their academic achievement.

افسوس ہے پچھلے دنوں پروفیسر محمد عمر الدین کا ۶۲ برس کی عمر میں انتقال علی گڑھ میں ہوگیا،اوریہیں دفن ہوئے۔ مرحوم علی گڑھ یونیورسٹی میں ۲۴ء میں داخل ہوئے تھے، اُس وقت سے دمِ آخرتک اُن کا رشتہ اس درس گاہ سے منقطع نہیں ہوا۔ انھوں نے تعلیم یہیں مکمل کی، پھر یہیں لکچرر، ریڈر، پروفیسر اورصدر شعبۂ فلاسفی ونفسیات، وارڈن، اور پروووسٹ اورخداجانے کیاکیا ہوئے۔انھوں نے یونیورسٹی میں بڑے بڑے اتار چڑھاؤ اورانقلابات دیکھے تھے،اوراب آخر میں خود انقلاباتِ زمانہ کی عبرت انگیز تصویربن کررہ گئے تھے۔اسلامی فلسفہ اُن کا خاص مضمون تھا، امام غزالی ؒ کے فلسفۂ اخلاق پرانگریزی میں اُن کی ضخیم کتاب چند سال ہوئے یونیورسٹی کی طرف سے شائع ہوئی ہے۔بلاکے ذہین، بہترین منتظم،بے نفس وبے ریا، مجّسم خلوص، پیکرِ وضع داری، اور نہایت سادہ اوربے تکلّف! راقم الحروف سے دیرینہ اور بڑے مخلصانہ تعلقات تھے، یونیورسٹی سے ملازمت کے تعلق کے اعتبارسے مرحوم اس چمن کی پرانی بہار کی آخری نشانی تھے۔ ’’خدا بخشے بہت سی خوبیاں تھیں مرنے والے میں‘‘۔ [ستمبر ۱۹۶۴ء]

Shah ʿAbdul Latīf Bhitāī's Kalām (Risāla) is the interpretation of Sharīʿah and Taṣawwuf. Then parables and metaphors are used, but in essence, the whole Risāla is based on the teachings of Ṣūfīsm. Allāh has given acceptance to this Risāla. Many interpretations and explanations of Shāh's Risāla have been written. This article is based on the introduction of an outspoken, commentator who interpreted Shāh Sāḥib's Kalām in the light of Sharīʿah and Ṣūfīsm. It was an important task of its kind. He was not certified scholar or peer or mentor to carry out this work, but he was a headman and land lord. Allāh took this unique work from his pen. The name of this saint is Ḥajī Rasūl Bakhsh Dero. This interpretation of Shāh's Kalām is the one of the biggest argument for this saint's good faith,  Sincerity and honesty.

Shape Preserving Trigonometric Spline Curves and Surfaces for Computer Graphics

Computer Graphics has a great impact on the existent world in a variety of ways. A variety of applications exist to demonstrate the power of Computer Graphics. Data Visualization is one of them. There is a wide range of applications that are grounded on certain underlying data which is to be exhibited on digital displays. This underlying data has three noteworthy shape patterns named as positive, monotone and convex. This thesis is concerned with the construction of new and effective shape preserving schemes to draw the smooth trigonometric spline curves and surfaces for positive, constrained, monotone and convex shapes of the data. For this persistence, firstly, a quadratic trigonometric spline function with three parameters is developed and it is extended to bi-quadratic trigonometric spline function including six parameters in its description. Two parameters of quadratic trigonometric spline function and four parameters of bi-quadratic trigonometric spline function are constrained to draw the shape preserving trigonometric spline curves and surfaces for positive, constrained, monotone and convex 2D and 3D regular data patterns respectively. Rest of the parameters, one parameter in quadratic trigonometric spline function and two parameters in bi-quadratic trigonometric spline function, are kept free for the shape refinement of shape preserving trigonometric spline curves and surfaces respectively. Furthermore, a cubic trigonometric spline function with two parameters is also developed. One parameter included in its description is constrained to draw the shape preserving trigonometric spline curves for positive, constrained, monotone and convex 2D regular data patterns whereas remaining one parameter is left free for further shape amendment as per requirements. The trigonometric cubic spline function is also extended to bi-cubic trigonometric spline functions which include four parameters in its construction. Two of them are constrained to draw the shape preserving trigonometric spline surfaces for positive, constrained, monotone and convex 3D regular data patterns while the remaining two parameters are left free for further shape modification whenever needed. The proposed and developed schemes are illustrated with examples of 2D and 3D regular data of positive, constrained, monotone and convex shapes. These illustrations help and guide to validate and demonstrate the proposed schemes. The error bounds of developed quadratic trigonometric spline functions and cubic trigonometric spline functions are also estimated which are of order three.
