Abstract

Background: This study was conducted to determine the knowledge attitude and perception of parents and caregivers among cerebral palsied children. There is a need to enhance the knowledge about oral motor difficulties among parents and primary caregivers with cerebral palsy childrenbecause oral motor skills refer to the motion of muscles of the face and oral areaespecially the motion related to speech.Parents and caregivers also reported that their child had difficulty with weak muscle tone in the face that cause problem in feeding and speaking in infancy, but that the weak muscle tone can better with age. Objective: To determineKnowledge, attitude and Perception of parents about oral motor difficulties among cerebral palsied children. Methodology: Questionnaire was used to collect information from the parents and primary caregivers of cerebral palsied child.Cross sectional study design wasused in this study.The sample wasconsisting of 94 parents with CP child as per literature review (1) with the age range of 3years to 10years and the sample will be collected from speech language pathology department of any private or public institute.The prior permission from the institutes where we have collected data from the parents. Results: Results showed that mostly of the parents and caregivers have knowledge about oral motor difficulties and they showed positive attitude towards their child with cerebral palsy. Conclusion: To determineKnowledge, attitude and Perception of parents about oral motor difficulties among cerebral palsied children. Key words: Cerebral palsy, Oral motor difficulties
