برگِ سبز است تحفہء درویش!
عموماًکسی کی جناب میں کوئی نذرانہ پیش کرتے ہوئے کہتے ہیں’’یہ فقیر کا ناچیز تحفہ ہے قبول فرمائیے‘‘۔کسی شاعر نے اس بات کو یوں کہا تھا……
ع برگِ سبز است تحفہء درویش
منیر شکوہ آبادی نے فارسی کے اس مصرعے پر گرہ بھی لگادی :
نذر جو میں نے کی ہے یہ درپیش
برگِ سبز است تحفہء درویش
نذر عابد صاحب اردو کے استاد ہیں، انھوں نے اپنے نعتیہ نذرانے کو ’’برگِ نعت‘‘ اسی استعاراتی پس منظر میں کہا ہے۔ کتاب کے نام ہی سے ظاہر ہے کہ شاعر ،نبیء کریم علیہ الصلوٰۃ والتسلیم کی بارگاہِ بے کس پناہ میں عاجزانہ ، انکسارانہ اور فدویانہ انداز میں تحفہ پیش کرنے کا متمنی ہے ،تاہم وہ اپنے تحفے کو آپﷺ کی شان کے شایاں ہرگز نہیں سمجھتا۔
نذر عابد کائنات کو اللہ سبحانہٗ تعالیٰ کا ایسا نگارخانہ تصور کرتے ہیں جس میں لحظہ بہ لحظہ رسولِ گرامی علیہ ا لصلوٰۃو السّلام کی تعریف و توصیف کا عمل جاری ہے۔ اللہ ربّ العزت کی طرف سے، حضور ﷺ کی جناب میں درود و سلام پیش کرنے کا حکم بھی دیا گیا ہے اور آپﷺ کے ذکر کو آپﷺ کے لیے بلند فرمانے کا بھی التزام کیا گیاہے۔ ایسی صورت میں اگر کائنات کو استعاراتی زبان میں ’’جہانِ نعت‘‘ کہا جائے تو یہ تکوینِ کائنات کی بہترین تعبیر ہوگی۔درج ذیل شعر میں سارے جہان کو نعت کا نام دینے سے شاعر کی یہی مراد ہے:
یہ زمیں نعت ہے، آسماں نعت ہے
سوچیے تو یہ سارا جہاں نعت ہے
سارے جہاں کی وسعتوں اور سرکارِ دوعالمﷺ کی عظمتوں و رفعتوں کے پیشِ نظر، شاعر کو نعت گوئی، انتہائی گرانقدر ، انتہائی مشکل اورحد درجہ نازک ،مقدس اور venerable معلوم ہوتی ہے۔اسی لیے نعت کہنے کے ہنگام، اپنی کم مائیگی کے ساتھ ساتھ...

In Sciences of Hadith Modhog )"refer to the narrations originating from some narrators by self or from those narrators who had been found, with solid arguments, telling a lie rather than from other well-accepted sources that quote the prophet Muhammad (SAWS), his Sahaba or Tabieen. These wrongly attributed "traditions" got mingled with the Islamic Literature from various sources and the people used to quote them from one another without being properly probed and analyzed. During the era of the compilation of tafa'asir of the Holy Quran, some Arabic commentators mistakenly quoted those traditions in their respective tafa'asir. Many tafa'asirs contain a large number of such traditions. Some Urdu tafa'asirs relied upon Arabic tafa'asirs without analyzing those traditions and quoted them. Tafsir Maarif ul Quran is also one of those referred tafa'asirs. It is a need of the day that the research scholars in Islamic Studies should focus on this issue and all these tafa'asirs should be carefully analyzed and made free from baseless "Modhug Traditions". This research effort is an attempt to give a base for analyzing such traditions and to protect Islamic literature from the Modhog traditions

Relation of Phonemic Transcription to the Pronunciation of Pakistan Learners of English: a NUML Case Study

Pronunciation is a very important component of language since verbal aspect of language is more important than its written aspect because of the volume of day to day verbal communication. This basic component of language becomes very important in foreign language learning /teaching because it involves a great deal of conscious learning where there is no native speech community around in most cases. In case of English, it becomes even more crucial due to vocalic richness that it possesses, the lack of correspondence between its actual sounds and its letters of the alphabet and its inherent stress- timed nature. Therefore, both teachers and learners have to be extremely careful in terms of its pronunciation. The present study was conducted to find out correlation between the written and verbal performance of Pakistani learners of English studying at Diploma Level in National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, Pakistan. Correlation was found in monophthongs (single or pure vowels), diphthongs (double vowels or glides) and lexical stress. The members (both male and female) of the study sample (N=375) hailed from 11 different linguistic backgrounds which include all major languages spoken in the country. The data were collected with the help of two tests: one for written performance and the other for verbal performance. The data were statistically compared in order to determine correlation. The correlation was found with the help of Pearson Product Moment Formula. Though members of the study sample with different linguistic backgrounds exhibited their typical articulatory features, yet results of the study generally indicated strong (in the area of monophthongs), medium (in the area of diphthongs) and weak (in the area of lexical stress) though positive relationship between what the members of the study sample transcribed in phonemic symbols and what they pronounced. As far as the issues of gender and L1 are concerned, the former does not appear to be a crucial factor in terms of articulation whereas the latter does.
