Before the creation of Pākistān, there were multiple points functional as circles of Qur’ānic Durūs. Among these, Dars-e- Qur’ān by Sheikh al Tafsīr Maulānā Aḥmad ‘Alī Lāhorī (d:1381A.H/1962A.D) was of a distinguished standing. Scholars from remote areas of Delhī, Luckhnow, and even of Deobund used to come over here for the genesis of the Qur’ān. Among these personalities is Maulānā Akhlāq Ḥusain Qāsmī of Delhī as well as the famous and great literary figure of the Islamic World Maulānā Abu’l-Ḥasan ‘Alī Nadvī (d:1420A.H/1999A.D). Maulānā ‘Alī Mian made a mention of it in the session of ‘Ālmī Rābitah al Adab al Islāmī in 1999 A.D at Lāhore. He said,“I confess with pride that I have gained a lot from Maulānā Aḥmad ‘Alī Lāhorī”. Moreover, these were not only the orthodox scholars who benefited from Ḥaḍrat Lāhorī but a large number of modern scholars were also on his panel as well-wishers. The name of the famous literary and scholarly figure Dr. Syed ‘Abdallāh (d:1406-A.H/1986A.D) may be quoted as an example. Prior to and after the creation of Pākistān, out of many distinguished Qur’ānic Circles, a few of these are particularly worth mentioning:
Maulānā Abu’l-Ḥasanāt Qādrī (Masjid-e-Wazīr Khān)
Maulānā Dāwūd Ghaznavī (Chuniān Wālī Masjid)
Maulānā Ghulām Murshid (Bādshāhī Masjid)
Maulānā ‘Abdallāh Farūqī (Delhi Muslim Hotel, Old Anār Kalī)
Maulānā Maudūdī (‘Abd al-Karīm Road, Qil‘ah Gojar Singh).
Dr. Isrār Aḥmad was also one of the links in the chain; he established Circles of Durūs-e- Qur’ān not only in Lāhore but in the entire country and invested all his potential to make the message of the Qur’ān so public. This book highlights his services and thoughts. There are five chapters in the book. The first chapter is entitled “Dr. Isrār...
The set of formal legal institutions that collectively constitute a “government”or a “state” form the basis of what we call “Political System”. Democracy, one of the institutions withiun the present day political scenario, is a system of processing conflicts in which the outcomes depend on what the opinion of majority of the participants is. In such a process, no single force or group can control what occurs unless they can prove their majority. The primary problem with the world politics in today’s world is not much different to what it has been over the centuries - it is controlled by people who are generally incapable of envisioning a system of just government that could address the broader problems faced by humanity and that which could think beyond the immediate scene. Nothing about our world will change until we acknowledge this reality and that the quality of life depends on more than a mere establishment of rules by which to live and carry out commerce. It requires an understanding of the universal issues that are not yet considered as a part of the better human condition by most governments of our time. Politicians always have, focussed on the tangible issues of the physical social structure while being oblivious to the fact that such a framework can be no more useful in improving the human condition than is the altruistic value of the foundation on which it is built. In this paper, the existing democratic political system has been thoroughly analyzed in accordance with the seerah of our beloved messengerﷺ.
The purpose of this study was to explore and understand a PDT's perceived and performed roles in promoting teachers' professional development. The proponents of teachers' professional development believe that the presence of professional support has implications on teachers' classroom practices. The study was conducted in a lower-middle school with a PDT as a research participant. The study was carried out using a case study method. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, document analysis, and informal conversations with the research participant. The data were analyzed using ongoing and summative analysis procedures. The findings of the study reveal that the PDT's presence in the school has been viable for teachers for enhancing their professional development. The findings indicate that teachers' professional development is embedded in the in-depth understanding of the teacher educator's insights regarding professional development. The PDT's perceptions about his roles indicate that creating a conducive environment is crucial, which provides a sound base for teachers' professional development. The PDT's collegial relationship and trust motivate teachers to take an active part in professional development activities. The study further indicates that the PDT's overarching role as a facilitator proved to be the driving force in developing teachers' potential. He facilitated the teachers by enriching the curriculum, aligning the student assessment with the modern teaching strategies, improving classroom teaching practices as a co-teacher, acting as an exemplary teacher and as a critical friend, and by observing and giving constructive feedback. The study also looks at the challenges faced by the PDT in executing his roles for enhancing teachers' professional development. It also makes some recommendations and offers implications for various stakeholders to bring improvement in the work of PDT. The study also suggests some areas for future research on the topic.
