پروفیسر عبدالمعید خاں
افسوس ہے گزشتہ ماہ کی ۲۵/تاریخ کوپروفیسر عبدالمعید خاں کابھی انتقال ہوگیا۔ مرحوم برصغیر کے اساتذہ ٔ عربی واسلامیات میں ایک نمایاں مقام رکھتے تھے۔ انھوں نے پہلے قاہرہ میں کئی برس مقیم رہ کر وہاں سے ڈی۔لٹ کی ڈگری لی اور پھر کیمبرج سے پی۔ایچ ڈی کیا۔اس کے بعد جامعہ عثمانیہ سے وابستہ ہوئے تو ایسے کہ ساری زندگی یہیں بیت دی۔ابھی دوتین برس ہوئے وہ صدر شعبۂ عربی کے عہدہ سے سبکدوش ہوئے تھے۔ ۳۵برس سے اسلامیات کے مشہور اوربلند پایہ سہ ماہی رسالہ’’اسلامک کلچر‘‘کے ایڈیٹر اوربارہ برس سے دائرۃ المعارف کے ناظم تھے۔ اس درمیان میں امریکہ اور یورپ کے جامعات میں وزیٹنگ پروفیسر کی حیثیت سے بھی کام کرتے رہے۔ بیرونی ممالک کے بعض سفروں میں راقم الحروف اوروہ دونوں ہم سفر تھے۔اخلاق وعادات کے اعتبار سے بہت سادہ اورمنکسر المزاج تھے۔ اگرچہ انھوں نے بہت کم لکھاہے اوراس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ وہ شروع سے ہی خرابی صحت کاشکار تھے اوراسی سبب سے ڈاکٹروں کی ہدایت کے مطابق عمر بھرمجرد رہے، لیکن جوکچھ لکھاہے بہت سخت لکھاہے۔ عمر۶۶برس کے لگ بھگ ہوگی۔ عقیدہ اورعمل کے لحاظ سے پکے اورسچے مسلمان تھے۔ اﷲ تعالیٰ ان کو مغفرت کی نعمت سے سرفراز فرمائے۔

Education play main role in modern society and main purpose of education is to create a society characterized by holiness and reconciliation so that society is filled with a spirit of sympathy, sadness and good will. In no time has the usefulness of education and its spirituality been devalued. Education is recognized as a symbol of the greatness the living nations and civilized society. Educated society reflects patience humble, grateful, fear and the most important habit such as determination and become an integral part of life. Even the educated society is considered to be a true pioneer of courage and human values. Education plays a positive role in empowering the weakest society. On the other hand educated people can think of the happiness and the well-being of humanity due to the light knowledge and their sincere efforts when working in this society so of course this will directly benefit those who are weak and ignorant in the society and the key to maximizing humanity. The light of education should also go to homes that are deprived of wealth and helplessness. It also means abiding by the law showing respect to women and helping the weak. Controlling bad temper and language being polite and following proper etiquette in a gathering is also part of good social behavior. In short good social behavior is living decently, peacefully, and with dignity among others without hurting or disturbing them. Good social behavior helps us live amicably in our society. It promotes good will and understanding among people and cultivates a clean, healthy environment for all citizens
A series of Copper(I) complexes with thiones of the general formula [CuaLbScXd](H2O)e and [CuaLbSc]Xd.(H2O)e (where a = 1 - 6, b = 1 - 6, c = 0 - 6, d = 0 - 6, e = 0 - 1 and X = Cl, Br & I) were prepared and characterized by elemental, IR and NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopic methods. Crystal structures of nine complexes, [Cu(Metu)4]Cl 1, [Cu4(Dmtu)4(S)(μ-S)Cl]Cl.(H2O) 2, [Cu(DeTu)Cl]3 3, [Cu(Metu)4]Br 4, [Cu(Dphtu)2Br]H2O 5, ([Cu(Metu)]I)6 6, [Cu(Mtu)4]I 7, [Cu(Detu)3I] 8 and [Cu(Dbtu)3I]0.6(H2O) 9 were determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction. An upfield shift in the >C=S resonance of thiones in 13 C-NMR and downfield shift in the N-H resonance in 1H-NMR were consistent with the sulfur coordination of thiones to Copper(I). The crystal structures of 1, 4, 7, 8 and 9 show that they are monomeric having tetrahedral or distorted tetrahedral geometries at Copper(I) center. The crystal structure of 2 showed that it consists of a tetrameric cationic complex having terminal as well as doubly bridged Dmtu and S ligands. The complex has two kinds of coordination environments around four Copper atoms, a distorted tetrahedral and a trigonal planer. [Cu(Detu)Cl]3 is a trinuclear complex consisting of Cu3S3 six-membered ring possessing chair conformation. The geometry around each Cu center was nearly trigonal planar. In 5, the Cu(I) atom adopts a slightly distorted trigonal planar coordination. The X-ray studies of 6 showed that the complex was hexanuclear consisting of [Metu-Cu-I] units. The geometry around each Cu center was distorted tetrahedral. In all these complexes intra or/and intermolecular hydrogen bonding is present in 2-D or 3-D network. The antimicrobial activities of Copper(I) bromide complexes were evaluated by minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and they showed wide range of activity against the test isolates.
