گزشتہ مہینے جناب خلیل الرب صاحب وفات پاگئے، وہ پھولپور (الٰہ آباد) کے رہنے والے تھے، محکمہ تعلیمات میں ملازم تھے، اس سلسلے میں اعظم گڑھ برسوں قیام رہا شبلی منزل برابر تشریف لاتے، اردو سے عشق تھا۔ ادب و تنقید پر چند کتابیں بھی لکھیں، یو پی اردو اکیڈمی اور مسلم یونیورسٹی کورٹ کے ممبر تھے، باغبانی اور چمن آرائی کا عمدہ ذوق تھا، دارالمصنفین کی گولڈن جوبلی کے موقع پر ان ہی نے چمن بندی کی تھی جس کو ڈاکٹر ذاکر حسین صاحب نے بہت پسند کیا تھا اور ان سے گلاب کی بعض قسمیں دہلی منگائی تھیں۔ اﷲ تعالیٰ مغفرت فرمائے۔ آمین!! The main emphasis of the study is on the academic performance and the stress management in applied science among the students of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Sindh University Campus Dadu. What is the level of stress on the academic success of the students? How does it affect their lifestyle and health? This is what the research study covers to counteract the general stress among the students. The purpose of the study is to inquire and bring light to measure and check the present stress among students of the university. While doing the research a quantitative method was applied for collecting and analyzing the data. The Questionnaires were distributed among different students for this purpose. Innumerable factors of stress were found in the results and the factors were grouped in four categories which are; -Environmental Factors, Academic Factors, and Personal Factors. In environmental factors, the stress was about the happening the fate in the future. The students were found worried about future that what would happen about their fate? How it will happen? What is about to happen? When they came into contact with the new people it raised their stress. Also the class workload was the main reason for the stress among the students regarding academic factors. When the students were experiencing the workload of the class the group of the students came under stress. The last factor was a personal factor which was mainly due to the financial problem among the students. The stress of all categories can be managed through stress management courses and doing different extracurricular activities which will help to divert the attention of the students on different occasions. This study has drawn significant conclusions and Suggests further measures for practitioners which could help other to manage stress. The limitations are also mentioned so that those who are conducting research for the similar cases can extract better results and ways of curbing stress. A survey questionnaire was designed to collect the response from students, the five-point Likert scale was used from strongly agree to strongly disagree. SPSS-21 version was used to interpret the results through different quantitative techniques like descriptive, regression, and correlation. ____________
This study was conducted to study the prediction of distance learners’ achievements from locus of control and self-efficacy at post graduate level. The study aimed to predict the achievements from locus of control and self-efficacy. Population of the study comprised of students (Spring/Autumn 2015) of teacher education programs (M.A, M.Ed and B.Ed) through distance learning mode. Sample of 1513 distance learners (for quantitative analysis) was drawn out through disproportionate stratified random technique. Out of this sample, 5% (38 females and 38 males) respondents were randomly selected for semi-structured interviews.Two standardized instruments (Nowicki and Duke Locus of Scale, and General Self-efficacy scale) were adapted. Two interview guides were developed by the researcher. Achievements were measured in terms of students’ grades in the semester (Spring/Autumn 2015), life success/distinctions, and co curricular activities. Major findings of the study revealed that distance learners with internal LOC and high SE predicted high achievements and distance learners with external LOC and low SE exhibit low achievements. Significant positive relationships between SE, LOC and achievements of DLs emphasizes the importance of these variables. In this regard, training programs for course developers may be organized in a way that these may help them to focus on the importance of psychological variables in during course development. The correlation between internal LOC and high achievements also emphasizes the need that distance learners may have knowledge regarding the importance of psychological factors which play significant role in achievements. In this regard, the arrangement of end of semester reflective exercises may help DLs to gain knowledge about their LOC. Prediction of DLs achievements from LOC and SE also provoked the importance of the variables of this study for the authorities of distance education universities to pay attention towards the enclosure of psychological factors in curriculum i.e. inclusion of problem solving activities at the end of self assessment exercises, and graded problem solving projects/tasks may prove helpful.
