افسوس ہے کہ گزشتہ مہینہ ہماری جماعت کے ایک نامور رکن مولانا ابوظفر صاحب ندوی نے انتقال کیا، ان سے دارالمصنفین کے گوناگوں تعلقات تھے، وہ ندوہ کے مشہور فاضل، نامور، اہل قلم اور حضرت سید صاحبؒ کے حقیقی بھتیجے تھے، دارالمصنفین میں بھی کئی سال تک رہے تھے، ان کی پوری زندگی علم و تعلیم کی خدمت اور تالیف و تصنیف میں گزری وہ مختلف اوقات میں شانتی نیکتن بنگال، جمالیہ کالج مدراس اور دوسری تعلیم گاہوں میں معلم رہے، ادھر عرصہ سے گجرات ورنیکلر سوسائٹی احمدآباد میں ریسرچ اسکالر تھے اور گجرات کی تاریخ اور ادبیات پر تحقیقات کررہے تھے، ان کا ذوق خالص علمی اور ہندوستان کی تاریخ ان کا خاص موضوع تھا، اس پر انھوں نے کئی کتابیں لکھیں، دو کتابیں تاریخ سندھ اور مختصر تاریخ ہند دارالمصنفین سے شائع ہوچکی ہیں، ایک کتاب گجرات کی تمدنی تاریخ کا مسودہ موجود ہے جو انشاء اﷲ آئندہ شائع ہوگی، ایک کتاب تاریخ گجرات ندوۃ المصنفین دہلی سے شائع ہورہی ہے ان کے علاوہ سفرنامہ برہما، برہمی بول چال اور بعض دوسری کتابیں ان کی یادگار ہیں، ان مستقل تصانیف کے علاوہ ان کے مضامین معارف اور برہان وغیرہ علمی رسالوں میں وقتاً فوقتاً نکلتے رہتے تھے، مگر ان میں استقلال نہ تھا، اس لیے اپنی علمی قابلیت کے لحاظ سے وہ جس شہرت کے مستحق تھے وہ ان کو حاصل نہ ہوسکی، ان علمی کمالات کے ساتھ بڑے دیندار، نیک نفس اور سادہ مزاج تھے، جہاں رہتے تھے علمی کاموں کے ساتھ کچھ نہ کچھ دینی اور قومی و ملی کام بھی کرتے رہتے تھے۔ حضرت سید صاحبؒ کے گھرانے میں وہ آخری علمی یادگار تھے، وفات کے وقت سترسال کے قریب عمر رہی ہوگی۔ اﷲ تعالیٰ اس خادم علم و دین کو اپنی رحمت و مغفرت سے سرفراز فرمائے۔ (شاہ...
Model pembelajaran mempengaruhi motivasi dan hasil belajar Biologi siswa sekolah menengah atas. Berdasarkan observasi awal, diketahui bahwa pembelajaran Biologi di kelas X-1 SMA Negeri 7 Malang memiliki beberapa ciri, yaitu (1) motivasi belajar siswa cenderung kurang, (2) dalam menyelesaikan suatu tugas, siswa dengan karakteristik yang sama cenderung mengelompok sehingga terbentuk kelompok homogen yang tidak seimbang di kelas, dan (3) metode ceramah yang diterapkan oleh guru tidak menarik minat siswa sehingga mempengaruhi hasil belajarnya. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut maka dilakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif model Group Investigation (GI) untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar Biologi siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan dirancang dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif model GI dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar Biologi siswa. Motivasi belajar siswa meningkat sebesar 31, 48% yaitu dari 46, 15% dengan kategori cukup pada siklus I menjadi 77, 63% dengan kategori baik pada siklus II. Hasil belajar siswa juga mengalami peningkatan, terlihat dari nilai rata-rata siswa sebesar 81, 94% pada siklus I menjadi 89, 18% pada siklus II dan siswa yang tuntas belajar juga mengalami peningkatan dari 79, 49% pada siklus I menjadi 97, 44 % pada siklus II. Hasil angket juga menunjukkan bahwa siswa menyukai dan lebih termotivasi untuk belajar Biologi setelah mengikuti pembelajaran dengan pembelajaran kooperatif model GI.
Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis of Contemporary South Asian and Native American Novels People of South Asia and Native America have somewhat similar destinies. Both sides are invaded, displaced and exploited by the intruders and the foreign occupiers. Therefore, the study examines contemporary South Asian and Native American novels in the light of Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis while highlighting the similarities and differences that exist on both sides in the condition of female characters and representation of gender in a comparative analysis. For this purpose different forms of oppression employed to oppress female characters, discursive production of power and dominance, reworking and contesting of the assumptions embedded in the hegemonic gender ideology by female characters and representation of gender are the vital concerns taken up in the study. Since Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis combines the perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis and Feminism, it facilitates the exploration of above mentioned subject matter. Complex and subtle issues of power, gender and ideology are scrutinized by the theory. Dialogism with its emphasis on utterances, context, polyphony, heteroglossia, temporal and spatial framework is employed as a method to investigate the novels. Despite geographical distance and difference, South Asians and Native Americans have certain analogous experiences. Female characters are seen subjected to various overt and covert forms of oppression in the South Asian and Native American novels but their sufferings diverge in their magnitude and size, intensity and level, degree and extent. Written and spoken, verbal and non-verbal dimensions of language are studied in the discourse. Discursive power and dominance is materialized in interactions. Domination and authority is asserted by controlling interactions, commencing and concluding them on one’s own initiative, not caring for the actions and reactions, words and thoughts of the other person involved. False generalizations and ideologies are means to enact power and dominance discursively. Manipulation through discourse leads to conditioning, acceptability and hegemony. The female characters breach the taboos, get involved in the processes of mental and spiritual development to rework and redefine their position. They challenge and rebel, discarding what is falsely established and associated with them. They aspire and then work to transpire their hopes, dreams and ambitions into reality. The female characters are very much visible in the novels, performing their traditional as well as nontraditional roles. Characters, both male and female, are portrayed on human level with all their offerings and failings.
