آہ! ڈاکٹر محمد معظم جیراجپوری
دارالمصنفین کی مجلس عاملہ و انتظامیہ کے رکن ڈاکٹر معظم جیراجپوری بھی ۱۴؍ جولائی کو دہلی میں انتقال کرگئے اور وہیں جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ کے قبرستان میں تدفین ہوئی۔ ان کا وطن اعظم گڑھ کا معروف گاؤں جیراج پور ہے، یہیں ۱۹۲۰؁ء میں وہ پیدا ہوئے تھے، ان کا خاندان علمی، تعلیمی، اور دینی حیثیت سے ممتاز تھا، ان کے دادا مولانا سلامت اﷲ جیراجپوری مولانا سید نذیر حسین محدث دہلوی کے ارشد تلامذہ میں تھے، وہ نواب صدیق حسن خاں کی دعوت پر بھوپال تشریف لے گئے اور ریاست کے مدارس کے اہتمام کی خدمت پر مامور ہوئے، وہ جمعیۃ اہل حدیث کے سرخیل تھے ان کے اثر سے اعظم گڑھ میں اس مسلک کی ترویج و اشاعت ہوئی۔ ڈاکٹر محمد معظم کے والد مولانا حافظ محمد اسلم جیراجپوری انہی کے لایق فرزند اور ملک کے مشہور عالم و مصنف تھے جو مدۃالعمر جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ میں تاریخ اسلام و دینیات کے استاد رہے، ڈاکٹر محمد معظم کی تعلیم بھی جامعہ میں ہوئی۔ اس کے بعد انہوں نے طب کی تحصیل کی۔
تعلیم مکمل کرنے کے بعد انہوں نے اعظم گڑھ میں اپنا مطب کھولا۔ اپنی اصول پسندی، محنت، پیشہ میں یکسوئی و انہماک اور مریضوں کے علاج میں نہایت دلسوزی کی وجہ سے بہت جلد کامیابی نے ان کے قدم چومے اور وہ پورے ضلع میں ایک اچھے معالج کی حیثیت سے مشہور ہوگئے، صبح و شام کو مریضوں کا تانتا لگا رہتا تھا۔
علم، ادب اور شعر و سخن سے دلچسپی کی بنا پر شام کے وقت ان کے مطب میں ادیب و شاعر، شبلی کالج کے اساتذہ اور دارالمصنفین کے رفقاء کی نشست ہوا کرتی تھی، بڑے باغ و بہار آدمی تھے اپنی دلچسپ اور پُرلطف باتوں سے مجلس کو زعفران زار بنادیتے تھے، خود بھی شعر کہتے...

Efficacy of Atorvastatin Plus Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin Versus Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin Alone in Chronic Hepatitis C Patients with Genotype-3a Atorvastatin for the treatment of chronic HCV with Genotype-3a

Background: Chronic hepatitis C infection has created a huge burden of disease causing serious health effects. The combination therapy used to treat hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection includes Pegylated interferon and Ribavirin. As cholesterol biosynthesis plays a pivotal role in HCV replication, the use of various statins has been associated with higher sustained viral response Objective: To compare the efficacy of atorvastatin plus pegylated interferon and ribavirin versus pegylated interferon and ribavirin alone in patients of chronic hepatitis C with genotype-3a Methods: This Randomized controlled trial was conducted at outpatient department, Mayo Hospital Lahore for six months i.e. May to November 2017. After ethical approval, 60patients of ages 25 to 55 years of either gender with chronic hepatitis C with genotype 3a were included in the study. Informed consent was taken from all patients. Then patients were randomly allocated into two groups “A” and “B” using random number table. Patients in Group A received standard of care treatment for chronic hepatitis C i.e. Pegylated interferon and ribavirin while the patients in Group B also received tab atorvastatin along with the standard treatment. Patients were follow up for 4 week. Blood samples were collected and HCV RNA detection. All this information were entered in proformaResults: In standard therapy group, the mean age of patients was 39.50±8.39years. In atorvastatin plus standard therapy group, the mean age of patients was 34.30±6.78years. In standard therapy group, there were 25 (83.3%) males and 5 (16.7%) females. In atorvastatin plus standard therapy group, there were 16 (53.3%) males and 14 (46.7%) females. After 4 weeks, Rapid VirologicalResponse (RVR) was achieved in 4 (13.3%) patients in standard therapy group while in 14 (46.7%) in atorvastatin plus standard therapy group. The difference was significant (p<0.05) Conclusions: Atorvastatin in combination with Pegylated interferon and ribavirin have better efficacy as compared toPegylated interferon & ribavirin alone in chronic hepatitis C-3a.

Numerical Simulation of Complex Flows of Fibre Reinforced Composites

Complex laminar flows of incompressible fluids have been investigated numerically. Both Newtonian and generalised non–Newtonian fluids are simulated, whilst for generalised non–Newtonian fluids, two shear thinning models, i.e., Bird–Carreau and Power law, are employed. Both models are. For numerical investigation the flow problem adopted is two–dimensional axisymmetric periodically constricted tube. The frame of reference used in the investigation is cylindrical polar co–ordinates. For the simulation two–dimensional momentum transport equation is solved using a Finite Element Method (FEM). Numerical scheme used is known as Taylor–Galerkin/pressure–correction algorithm. In open literature this problem is simulated only for single aspect ratio (amplitude) of the undulation in the absence of fibres. Whereas, in this research investigation principal aim is introduction of fibre reinforced composite material. Different aspect ratios of undulation are also simulated at various inertial forces. For comparison purpose with other experimental results as well as numerical prediction, initially, flow is considered for constant viscosity Newtonian fluids through periodically constricted tube. Subsequently, from dilute to semi–dilute rigid rod like fibre suspended in all fluid models, i.e., constant viscosity, Bird–Carreau and Power law fluids have been examined. For different undulation levels of periodically constricted tube, the critical values of the Reynolds number have been identified, where beginning of embryo recirculation region starts. As inertial force increases, augmentation of vortex is observed in the undulation region. While, introducing fibres vortices shrinks in length and intensity. For Newtonian, power law and Bird–Carreau models pressure isobars are also demonstrated. In all levels of fibre concentration, the graphical illustration of calculated data for friction factor as well as empirical relationships is illustrated for all undulation aspect ratios.
