جب میں نے یونیورسٹی آف سیالکوٹ میں بطور اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر شعبہ اردو میں جوائننگ کی تو اس وقت نعمت اللہ ارشد گھمن ایم فل اْردو کا مقالہ لکھ رہے تھے۔ میری موجودگی میں ہی ان کا زبانی امتحان ہوا جس میں یہ نا صرف کامیاب و کامران رہے بلکہ گولڈ میڈل کے بھی مستحق ٹھہرے۔ میں نے اس دورانیے میں یہ بات محسوس کی کہ موصوف نہ صرف اساتذہ کے ساتھ مودب رہے بلکہ اپنے ہم جماعتوں کے ساتھ بھی ان کا رویہ بہت دوستانہ رہا۔ ایم فل اردو کی سطح پر طلبہ و طالبات کو اپنے کورس ورک کی تکمیل کے لیے بہت سی مشکلات کا سامنا کرنا پڑتا ہے۔ لائبریریوں میں کتب کی قلت ہے اور پھر وہ اپنی ملازمتی مجبوریوں کی وجہ سے لاہور یا اسلام آباد کی لائبریریوں میں جانے سے بھی قاصر ہوتے ہیں۔ طلبہ و طالبات کی اس مشکل کو حل کرنے کے لیے شاگردرشید نعمت اللہ ارشد گھمن نے یہ بیڑا اٹھا یاہے اور ایم فل اردو کے پاکستان کی تقریباً تمام یونیورسٹیوں کے اہم موضوعات پر مشتمل کتاب لکھ ڈالی ہے۔ یہ کتاب نہ صرف طلبہ و طالبات بلکہ اساتذہ کے لیے بھی انتہائی کارآمد ثابت ہوگی۔ میرے خیال میں اس سے قبل اس موضوع پر ایم فل سطح کی کوئی کتاب موجود نہیں ہے اس لیے یہ اپنی نوعیت کا نیا تجربہ ہے۔ میری دعا ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نعمت اللہ ارشد گھمن کو مزید کتب لکھنے کی توفیق عطا فرمائے اور انہیں زندگی کے ہر میدان میں کامیابی عطا فرمائے۔ آمین

متابعتِ رسولﷺ (تکمیلِ ایمان) کے سات درجے: مکتوبات امام ربانی مجدد الفِ ثانی کی روشنی میں

The digit seven has great importance in our life. Seven rounds of  Holy Kabah, seven heavens, seven layers of earth, seven levels of  hell, seven recitation of Holy Quran, seven interior and exterior (meanings) of holy Quran, seven stages of human life, etc. Hazrat Mujadid Alf Sani mentioned the seven degrees and their secrets of the obedience of the Holy Prophet: Say: "if you do love (obey) Allah, then follow me, Allah will (love) save you". Actually the perfect following of the Holy Prophet is the source of the completion of faith. As we adopt the following of the Holy Prophet, so and so our faith will reach to the perfection. In this article, the introduction of seven degrees of the following of the Holy Prophet and their secrets are described, in the light of 54th writing in book II. So books so that every Muslim after seeing his faith, could be able to complete the degrees of the perfection of faith and could get the nearness of God.

Action Songs As a Manifestation of Multimodality for Learning New Vocabulary

My study seeks to explore the potential of action songs for learning new vocabulary in a foreign/second language i.e. English. As part of this exploration, the study looks into multimodal pedagogies for meaning making in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. Since Pakistan's National Curriculum for Early Childhood Education (2007) offers the integration of action songs as part of its curricular learning outcomes, it surfaces as a problem where the policy suggests something different from the current practice. It is observed that action songs are included in the school curriculum only as a co-curricular or fun activity and the learning potential that these songs carry is remotely acknowledged in the mainstream teaching learning practice. To discover the language learning potential of action songs, the study gets situated in a private school in Karachi. Semi-structured interviews from two teachers; video recording of sessions where teachers and students engage in action songs in two kindergarten classrooms and collaborative plan will be used as data collection tools. The collaborative plan consists of 4 steps: first is analysis of current practice, then plan, act and observation of action poems, next is plan, act and observation of alternate modes and the last step is a guided plan by the teacher. This study will enable participating teachers to reflect on their practices and to enhance their teaching within the context of English as a second/foreign language class. The findings of the study are presented in two phases. The first part dealt with the themes that emerged from the pre- collaborative interview those are teachers' understanding about vocabulary, pedagogies teachers use to teach language and the use of modes. The other part focused on the themes that emerged from post collaborative interview that covers action for meaning making, flash cards used to teach vocabulary and songs help to teach other subject matter.
