افسوس ہے کہ گذشتہ دو مہینوں کے اندر اردو کے پرانے خدمت گذار خیر یہوروی اور نامور شاعر تسکین قریشی مرحوم کا انتقال کیا، خیر صاحب کی زندگی کا بڑا حصہ اردو کی خدمت میں گذرا، وہ برسوں انجمن ترقی اردو ہند سے وابستہ رہے، مولوی عبدالحق صاحب اور قاضی عبدالغفار صاحب مرحوم کے زمانہ میں ان کی حیثیت اسسٹنٹ سکریٹری کی تھی، وہ محض انجمن کے تنخواہ دار ملازم نہ تھے، بلکہ ان میں اردو کی خدمت کی لگن تھی، جس سے انجمن کے کاموں کو بڑا فائدہ پہنچا، ان کی کوشش سے بعض مقامات پر اردو کانفرنسیں بھی ہوئیں، صاحبِ قلم بھی تھے، اور کبھی کبھی ادبی مضامین لکھتے تھے، انجمن سے الگ ہونے کے بعد لکھنؤ میں میر اکیڈمی اور غالب اکیڈمی قائم کیں، جن سے حدیث میر اور مرقع غالب شائع کیں، باہر کے جو ادیب لکھنؤ آتے تھے، ان کو اکیڈمی میں مدعو کرتے تھے، اور بڑے شوق سے اس کے کاموں کو دکھلاتے تھے، ان کو جس پہلو سے بھی اردو کی خدمت کا موقع ملتا تھا، اس سے فائدہ اٹھاتے، اور انہوں نے اپنی بساط سے زیادہ اردو کی خدمت انجام دی، طبعاً بھی خلیق و شریف تھے، اﷲ تعالیٰ اس شیدائے اردو کی مغفرت فرمائے۔ (شاہ معین الدین ندوی، اگست ۱۹۷۱ء)

 

Psychological morbidity in medical students after entering into clinical training Psychological morbidity among medical students

Psychological morbidity is emerging as animportant issue for medical students after entering clinical training due to extensiveworking hours. Students find themselves unable to balance competing demands on their time and cannot allocate appropriate time to family, spouses and even to themselves; this leads to complaints about exhaustion and lack of efficiency in their profession. Objective: To assess Psychological morbidity in interns, medical officers and residents Methods: a cross sectional study was conducted. A google form was designed with questions adopting from the three scales of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS). Question from all three categories of MBI-GS such as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment were considered. The form was distributed via email and Whatsapp to 87 house officers, medical officers and residents of six public healthcare facilities in Lahore. Responses were captured from 73 participants who completed the General Health questionnaire. Seven of these forms were filled by nurses, so in the present study only the response ofthose 66 participants who conformed to the study cross-section were considered. The results were analyzedusing SPSS version 22 for descriptive statistics and chi-square association. Results: A significant association was found between long working hours and emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment questions in particular. The findings suggests long working hours ruin the mental health of medical professionals, which ultimately produce psychological health impacts. Conclusions: It was concluded that these factors should be considered to reduce psychological morbidity in health professionals.  

Teachers Perceptions About Children With Learning Disabilities in Main Stream Classroom in a Private School of Karachi, Pakistan

The aim of this research study was to investigate the perceptions of the teachers about children with Learning Disabilities in order to facilitate them in mainstream classrooms in a private school of Karachi, Pakistan. Furthermore, in this research, the researcher aimed to identify and describe the facilitating and hindering factors in the teaching and learning processes of a mainstream classroom setting. The research looked at the perceptions, facilitating and hindering factors, along with the teachers' understanding regarding diversity, inclusive education and mainstream classroom setting. The paradigm that was chosen for this research was the exploratory approach and the strategy was inductive, the outcomes were descriptive and the meaning mediated through the researcher was used as the instrument. This paradigm accounts for multiple realities and highlights the importance of context. Moreover, this qualitative exploratory study was done with the aim to describe the phenomena accurately. Furthermore, a purposive sampling strategy was adopted and semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers who participated in the study. The key findings of this study showed that the teachers working at school had a good understanding and sense of what diversity and inclusive education entail. Their attitudes were generally positive and they embrace diversity and see inclusive education as having many advantages. The teachers feel well-supported in their school environment and there is a display of a sense of belongingness among the staff. The teachers highlighted the facilitating and hindering factor in their interviews. Encouragement from the management and parents' sides, pedagogical knowledge, self-experience, tendency of sharing experience of the teachers were-some of the facilitating factors. In contrast, according to finding of the research study, the interactive gap between teachers and parents, insufficient pedagogical knowledge, workload, ups and downs in parents' expectation regarding children's learning outcomes and lack of classroom resources were found out as the hindering factors for the teaching and learning process.
