مجنونؔ گورکھپوری
افسوس ہے کہ پروفیسر احمد صدیق مجنون گورکھپوری نے کراچی میں ۴؍ جون کو داعی اجل کو لبیک کہا، اس سے پہلے بھی ان کی وفات کی خبر آئی تھی جو غلط تھی۔
مجنون صاحب ۱۰؍ مئی ۱۹۰۴؁ء کو ضلع بستی کے ایک غیر معروف گاؤں پلدہ عرف ملکی جوت میں پیدا ہوئے، مگر ان کی نشوونما اسی ضلع کی تحصیل خلیل آباد کے ایک گاؤں منجہریا میں ہوئی، جس کی یاد میں انھوں نے یہ شعر بھی کہا تھا:
تیرا ہر گوشہ کہ منزل گاہ الہامات ہے
مکتب عرفاں ہے یا گہوارۂ جذبات ہے
۱۴؍ برس کی عمر میں وہ گورکھپور آئے، جہاں ان کے والد محمد فاروق دیوانہ گورکھپوری قیام پذیر تھے، جو اچھے شاعر و مصنف ہونے کے علاوہ مولانا محمدعلی جوہر کے اخباد ہمدرد کے سب ایڈیٹر بھی رہ چکے تھے۔ یہ ۳۶؁ء سے ۵۲؁ء تک مسلم لیگ کے ٹکٹ پر صوبائی اسمبلی کے ممبر بھی رہے۔
مجنون گھورکھپوری کی پرورش اسی علمی و ادبی ماحول میں ہوئی، وہ اپنے والد کے سب سے بڑے بیٹے اور نہایت ہونہار تھے، بچپن ہی سے ان کو پڑھنے کا بہت شوق تھا، پندرہ سولہ برس کی عمر میں شعر کہنے لگے تھے، انھیں ہزاروں کی تعداد میں اساتذہ کے فارسی اور اردو اشعار یاد تھے، پہلے تخلص کی پابندی سے آزاد رہنا چاہتے تھے، مگر جب دیکھا کہ سرسید جیسا شخص بھی اس سے بے نیاز نہیں ہے اور آہیؔ تخلص کرتا ہے تو انھیں بھی اس کی جستجو ہوئی، اور اپنے مزاج کی مناسبت سے مجنونؔ تخلص اختیار کیا، یہ حسن اتفاق ہے کہ ان کے والد کا تخلص دیوانہؔ تھا، دونوں کے تخلص میں جو مناسبت ہے وہ ظاہر ہے۔

Use of Barcode Based Traditional Games in Improving Student Learning Outcomes in Learning Citizenship Education (Ppkn)

This study collaborates between traditional games and technology. The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes in PPKN (Citizenship Education) learning through barcode-based traditional games tumbawa. This type of research is classroom action research. This research was conducted because based on preliminary observations, the results of students' daily tests in PPKn learning were still low, from 25 students, 25 students, only 12 people or 48% had good learning outcomes. The procedures used in this study consisted of planning, implementing, observing, reflecting. This research was conducted in two cycles of action. The data collection methods used were tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. In analyzing the data used a qualitative descriptive method assisted by the calculation of the percentage. The targeted research output is the national journal published in the internationally accredited journal 5. The level of technology readiness used is in the field of education (TKT 2). This research is expected to create a learning atmosphere and a learning process that attracts students' attention so that it provides better learning achievement than before.

Effects of Socially Stratified Education on Linguistic Performance

Educational success is interlocked to linguistic proficiency which is highly associated to the life chances, income and well-being of a person (Battle & Lewis, 2002). This research contributes to an understanding that Linguistic ability is the currency with which students in higher education negotiate success however, inadequate linguistic skills have been known to be a significant barrier to academic and economic success (Gray, 1996; Pecorino & Dozier, 2000; Saville‐ Troike, 1984). The influences of stratification have been a well-established fact in literature however, the deliberation in maintaining the level of English ability varied across school systems and the range of factors that increase this variation has been a rather left out issue. Likewise, how specific implicit practices at institutional level translate into linguistic disparity and what that might mean for the life chances of individuals, economically challenged groups and our entire nation again has been an untouched issue. More specifically, this study investigated associations between immediate and long-term linguistic attainments of learners from different socioeconomic classes through the existing socially stratified educational system. The focus of the study is on explicating the process and the role of underlying factors that influence linguistic exposure and development towards a specific outcome. The research was conducted in three phases with a total of 1000 participants selected across socioeconomic divisions and stratified schools for detailed linguistic analysis and achievement comparisons. The results of this study showed the measures of linguistic proficiency between high, middle and low socioeconomic status groups. A strong socioeconomic gradient with respect to linguistic proficiency across social classes was observed with noticeable variations among social classes. This study revealed the increasing influence of stratified school systems in society and how they produce linguistic disparities and found out that early childhood socioeconomic circumstances and schooling together form a precise kind of exposure that accumulates overtime towards advantage or disadvantage, a finding that highlights the importance of early influences being translated in the development of linguistic proficiency in higher education which become deterministic across the life course. Based on these findings recommendations are given with implications for practice, policy and further studies.
