Before the creation of Pākistān, there were multiple points functional as circles of Qur’ānic Durūs. Among these, Dars-e- Qur’ān by Sheikh al Tafsīr Maulānā Aḥmad ‘Alī Lāhorī (d:1381A.H/1962A.D) was of a distinguished standing. Scholars from remote areas of Delhī, Luckhnow, and even of Deobund used to come over here for the genesis of the Qur’ān. Among these personalities is Maulānā Akhlāq Ḥusain Qāsmī of Delhī as well as the famous and great literary figure of the Islamic World Maulānā Abu’l-Ḥasan ‘Alī Nadvī (d:1420A.H/1999A.D). Maulānā ‘Alī Mian made a mention of it in the session of ‘Ālmī Rābitah al Adab al Islāmī in 1999 A.D at Lāhore. He said,“I confess with pride that I have gained a lot from Maulānā Aḥmad ‘Alī Lāhorī”. Moreover, these were not only the orthodox scholars who benefited from Ḥaḍrat Lāhorī but a large number of modern scholars were also on his panel as well-wishers. The name of the famous literary and scholarly figure Dr. Syed ‘Abdallāh (d:1406-A.H/1986A.D) may be quoted as an example. The present paper is the study of the methodology which Shaykh Abu al-Ḥasan Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Hādī al-Sindī al-Kabīr (d.1139 AH) adopted in writing a concise commentary on most authentic book of Ḥadīth, Saḥīḥ al-Bukharī. His life and works have been studied and analyzed elsewhere. (See. Al-Azwa, Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, University of Punjab, June, 2012, pp. 327-44). This study delving in his Commentary brings to the fore the depth and breadth of his scholarship in various branches of Islamic sciences including usūl, fiqh and Arabic eloquence. It further shows how skillfully he applied his knowledge of these sciences in elaboration of the most authentic Ḥadīth work meticulously compiled by Muḥammad b. Ismaʿīl al-Bukharī (194-265 AH). The study concludes that his methodology in elaborating terminology of usūl, fiqh and Arabic eloquence is one of the best works of its kind. Hence, commentary may well be considered as one of the significant sources for the study of Saḥīḥ al-Bukharī.
This study aimed to explore the professional learning of women teachers in the Interior of Sindh. In addition it set out to explore the challenges faced by women teachers and the possibilities to grow and learn in their workplace. Qualitative research design and methodology were used to collect data. The main instrument was the open-ended interview, which provided rich data. Some of it was revealing to me though I have spent a lifetime in that context. The main themes that have emerged in the literature review were: Adult learning theories, gender and education and teachers workplace learning. The results of the research indicated that some of the findings relate well with the contemporary literature, some do not fully agree with it mainly due to contextual differences. The findings of the study could open new avenues for further research. The Department of Education and policy makers could gain insights when making provisions for women's professional learning in the context of the Interior of Sindh. The array of possibilities mentioned clearly show that teachers' workplace learning with follow up and support is a promising new development that could clear up the clouds engulfing the lives of women teacher and emerge as the silver lining behind every cloud, with a promise of a new tomorrow.
