اک دفعہ دا ذکر اے کہ اک گھر وچ اک چڑی تے اک بلی رہندے سن۔ دونویں آپس وچ دوست سن تے اک دوجے نال پیار کردے سن۔ چڑی بہت سدھی سادی تے بلی بہت چالاک تے خودغرض سی۔ اوہناں دونواں رل کے روزہ کجھ نہ کجھ پکانا، پر بلی نے چڑی دی نسبت بہتا کھا جانا۔ اک دن دونواں نے کھیر پکاون دا فیصلہ کیتا۔ بلی نے حامی بھر لئی تے آکھیا توں دکان توں جا کے چاول لے آ۔ باقی داسامان میں لے کے آندی آں۔ چڑی نے چاول لے آندے تے باقی دا سامان بلی لے کے آئی۔ دونواں رل کے کھیر پکانی شروع کیتی بلی کھاون پیون وچ چڑی نالوں اگے تے تیز سی۔ کھیر بناون دا بہتا کم چڑی نے کیتا تے بلی اوس بیٹھی ویکھدی رہی۔ جدوں کھیر پک گئی تاں چڑی نے کھیر کھاون لئی پلیٹاں تے چمچے میز اتے رکھ دتے تے بلی نوں آکھیا کہ باجی جلدی نال آجائو، بھکھ بہت لگی ہوئی اے۔ بلی نے آکھیا مینوں گرمی بہت لگ رہی اے۔ نہا لواں فیر کھاواں گے۔ چڑی بہت حیران ہوئی کہ بلی نے ایس توں پہلاں کدے انج نئیں آکھیا۔ خیر جدوں بلی نہا کے آئی، تاں اوس چڑی نوں آکھیا کہ ہن توں نہا لے۔ گرمی بہت اے میں کھیرا دا خیال رکھدی آں۔ چڑی بلی دی گل مندے ہوئے نہاون چلے گئی۔

A CORRELATIONAL STUDY BETWEEN VOCABULARY MASTERY AND READING COMPREHENSION AT ECONOMIC FACULTY OF ALKHAIRAAT UNIVERSITY

This research is a correlational study with two variables – variable X standing for vocabulary mastery and variable Y standing for reading comprehension. There were three research questions: (1) What is the level of correlation between variable X and variable Y; (2) How significant is the contribution that can be given by variable X toward variable Y; and (3) Is there positive correlation between variable X and variable Y? The sample of this research was fifty students of the first semester at Economic Faculty of Alkhairaat University. The instruments were tests and questionnaire. Through tests, it was found that: (1) The level of correlation between variable X and variable Y was strong; (2) The significant contribution given by variable X toward variable Y was 52.8%, meaning variable X gave much contribution to variable Y; and (3) There was positive correlation between variable X and variable Y since the value of r-counted (0.727) was higher than the value of r-table (0.279). Through questionnaire, 46% respondents agreed that vocabulary took a role in helping them to comprehend English texts, meaning the more vocabulary they have, the better they are in comprehending English texts.

Some New Families of Continuous Distributions Generated from Burr Xii Logit

This thesis is based on six chapters. In these chapters five new families of distributions are introduced by using the Burr XII distribution. In Chapter 1, a brief introduction of the existing families of distribution, the objectives and organization of this thesis are presented. In Chapter 2, Generalized Burr G family of distributions is proposed by using the function of cdf − log[1 − G(x)]. In Chapter 3, Marshall-Olkin Burr G family of distributions is introduced by using odd Burr G family of distributions used as generator proposed by Alizadeh et al. (2017). In chapter 4, odd Burr G Poisson family of distribution is introduced by compounding odd Burr G family with zero truncated Poisson distribution. In Chapter 5, a new generalized Burr distribution based on the quantile function following the method given by Aljarrah et al. (2014). In Chapter 6, Kumaraswamy odd Burr G family of distributions is introduced using odd Burr G family as a generator. The mathematical properties of these families are obtained, such as asymptotes and shapes, infinite mixture representation of the densities of the families, rth moment, sth incomplete moment, moment generating function, mean deviations, reliability and stochastic ordering, two entropies, Renyi and Shannon entropies. The explicit expression of distribution ith order statistic is also obtained in terms of linear combination of baseline densities and probability weighted moments. Model parameters are estimated by using the maximum likelihood (ML) method for complete and censored samples. Special models are given for each family, their plots of density and hazard rate functions are displayed. One special model for each family is investigated in detail. Simulation studies are also carried out to assess the validity of ML estimates of the model discussed in detail. Application on real life data is done to check the performance of the proposed families.
