نواب بھوپال حاجی حمید اﷲ خاں
افسوس ہے کہ پچھلے دنوں حاجی حمید اﷲ خاں کاجوعام طورپر نواب بھوپال کے نام سے مشہورتھے انتقال ہوگیا۔مرحوم اپنی سمجھ بوجھ ،علمیت ولیاقت اورتدبر و دوراندیشی کی وجہ سے تقسیم ہند سے پہلے کے والیان ریاست میں ایک ممتاز مقام و مرتبہ رکھتے تھے اوراسی وجہ سے حکومت میں ان کا بڑاوقار تھا اورپبلک میں بھی بڑے ہردلعزیز تھے۔مرحوم کی والدہ ماجدہ خودایک مثالی خاتون تھیں۔انھوں نے بیٹے کی تربیت ایسے انداز سے کی تھی کہ وہ دوسرے والیان ریاست کے لیے نمونہ کا کام دے۔چنانچہ عام والیان ریاست کی اولاد کے برخلاف مرحوم نے مدرسۃ العلوم علی گڑھ میں تعلیم پائی اوریہاں جب تک رہے عام طالب علموں کی طرح سب سے گھل مل کررہے۔ایک خاص خاندانی ماحول میں نشوونما پانے کے علاوہ علی گڑھ کی فضا میں ان کی جو ذہنی و دماغی تربیت ہوئی اسی کا اثر یہ تھا کہ وہ قومی اور ملکی معاملات کے علاوہ مسلمانوں کے تعلیمی اوردینی معاملات میں بھی بڑی دلچسپی لیتے تھے اوران کاموں کی عملاً مددکرتے تھے۔چنانچہ دارالعلوم دیوبند،مسلم یونیورسٹی علی گڑھ،ندوۃ العلماء لکھنؤ،جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ دلّی، یہ سب ادارے مرحوم کے فیض کرم وتوجہ کے ممنون تھے۔مسلم یونیورسٹی کے چانسلر اوروالیان ریاست کی انجمن کے صدر بھی رہ چکے تھے۔مرحوم کے ذاتی اوصاف وکمالات اورپھراُن کی خاندانی روایات کی وجہ سے’’بھوپال‘‘ارباب علم وادب،مسلمان علماء وفضلاء، شعراء اوراصحاب فن کی امیدوں اور تمناؤں کاجولانگاہ بن گیاتھا۔ریاست بھوپال توپہلے ہی ختم ہوگئی تھی۔تاہم اُن کی ذات سے بھوپال کی قدیم روایات کی بھولی بسری یاد،ذہن میں کبھی کبھی اجاگر ہوجاتی تھی۔اب یہ سہارا بھی گیا۔سدا رہے نام اﷲ کا! خاتمہ بھی بڑااچھا ہوا۔ نماز پڑھتے پڑھتے جان جانِ آفریں کے سپرد کردی۔ اللھم اغفرلہ وارحمہ رحماً کبیراً۔ [مارچ۱۹۶۰ء]
Youth play an important and key role in the development of a nation. They bring change and progress in society. Youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the partners of today. Revolutionary thoughts only come in youth. Youth of any nation play a pivotal role in all the activities in all the fields of life. All the progress in the field of economics, engineering, medical, arts, politics are the fruits of the passions, dreams and hope of youth. So keeping in view the importance of youth in this article, definition and true meaning of youth have be explained. What period is called a youth period? It is also been discussed in the light of the opinion of different thinkers and scholars. What should be the targets to train the youth. How can a young person be molded and trained into a pious, noble and honest person. This article answers all the questions. It is also suggested that Prophetic method to train the youth in order to fully utilize their capabilities, potentialities and abilities should be adopted. To give them respect, to educate and train them, to make them involve in constructive activities, to engage them in Halal earning and to develop confidence in them are the major action that should be taken to meet the challenges of the future and live a successful life in present. Today’s youth should dedicate their lives for Islam by contributing their time, energies and money, youth as the phase of life when an individual can grasp knowledge of Islam and follow it by utilizing his time and talent in the service of humanity by following prophet Muhammad as a role model. The 21st century is regarded as the age of technology, as it has taken over every field of life including education. One of the challenges of technology is the overflow of information, which requires students to use their critical-thinking skill to select and use relevant information for meaningful purpose. Critical-thinking is one of the important aspects of teaching Social Studies, as it helps in building students' confidence and enables them to apply their critical thinking skill in the real world as politically literate citizens. It not only gives sense of ownership to the learner but also develops in him/her a sense of being a contributing member of the society. Teaching critical-thinking to children is crucial, as it prepares them for taking up an effective role in society as critical and thoughtful citizens. However, while educationists consider critical thinking as the main goal of Social Studies, the teachers remain focused on providing knowledge and information to the students. This practice is the result of teachers' belief system of their role as being transmittors of knowledge and also due to their lack of understanding about the importance of critical thinking and how it is developed. Therefore, this small-scale study investigated whether and how a teacher educator could facilitate a social studies teacher in his/her understanding and teaching of critical thinking as a way to develop political literacy. This Action Research report provides evidences of the current practices through classroom observations and semi- structured interviews. In addition, the researcher and participants both maintained reflective journals, which provided evidences of their thought processes over the period of study. A critical account of the findings revealed that it is possible for a teacher educator to facilitate the teaching of critical thinking. This Action Research study reports some possible strategies for facilitating teachers in gaining an understanding about the notion of critical thinking. The findings of the research depict that the belief system of the teachers takes time to change. Furthermore, the report shows that it is possible to question and challenge the teachers' traditional teaching practices by implementing the relevant strategies that encourage critical thinking in students.
