قدرت اﷲ شہاب
جناب محمد طفیل کی وفات کے کچھ ہی روز بعد جناب قدرت اﷲ شہاب کی رحلت کی خبر ملی، وہ برطانوی حکومت کے زمانہ کے آئی۔سی۔ایس تھے، ۱۹۴۷؁ء کے بعد پاکستان کے بڑے بڑے عہدوں پر مامور رہے، وہ جب پاکستان کے گورنر جنرل جناب غلام محمد صاحب کے سکریٹری تھے، تو پہلی بار ۱۹۵۵؁ء میں ان سے دارالمصنفین کے دفتری کام کے سلسلہ میں ملا، ایک روز گورنر جنرل ہاؤس میں دوپہر کا کھانا ہوا تو وہ بھی شریک ہوئے لیکن خاموش بیٹھے رہے، ان سے کھانا شروع کرنے کے لیے کہا گیا تو بولے آج شعبان کی پندرہویں تاریخ ہے، وہ نفل روزے سے ہیں، ان کی اس مذہبیت کا اثر دستر خوان کے تمام شرکاء پر رہا۔
۱۹۵۵؁ء سے پاکستان کا سفر برابر کرتا رہا، ان سے برابر ملاقاتیں ہوتی رہیں، دارلمصنفین کی مطبوعات کا جب باضابطہ حق طباعت و اشاعت حکومت پاکستان کو دیا جارہا تھا تو انھوں نے اس کی دفتری کاروائی کرنے میں بڑی سہولتیں پہنچائیں جس کے لیے دارلمصنفین ان کا بڑا ممنون ہوا، ان میں سرکاری افسر کی رعونت بالکل نہ تھی، ہر موقع پر بڑے متین، سنجیدہ اور بااخلاق نظر آئے، بولتے بہت کم تھے مگر سنتے سب کی تھے، اور حتیٰ الامکان مدد کیا کرتے تھے، ان کو انگریزی اور اردو لکھنے میں بڑی مہارت تھی، اردو ادب کا بڑا عمدہ مذاق رکھتے تھے لیکن اس کا اظہار اپنی گفتگوؤں میں نہ ہونے دیتے، ادبی حلقوں میں اپنی اردو تحریروں کے لیے مقبول تھے، دعا ہے کہ اﷲ تبارک و تعالیٰ ان کی نیکیوں، لوگوں کے ساتھ کرم گستریوں اور روز مرہ زندگی میں ان کی خوبیوں کی بدولت ان کو اپنی آغوش عفو و کرم میں لے کروہی جگہ عطا فرمائیں جو نیک بندوں کو اس کی بارگاہ میں ملا کرتی ہے، آمین۔...

Significance of Philadelphia Chromosome in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Patients of Anmol Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan

Background: Chronic myelogenous Leukemia is a form of cancer that was firstly recognizes to associate strongly with the chromosomal abnormality [t (9; 22) translocation] called Philadelphia chromosome. Objective: Philadelphia chromosome is a characteristic chromosomal marker that is associated with chronic myelogenous leukemia. Methods: More than one hundred patients of either sex were selected for the experiment. RNA was isolated from whole blood of patients so can use exclusively in RT-PCR. Results: Philadelphia chromosome in blood samples of patients with suspected diagnosis of CML was detected in 63% of patients. During our experimental studies on CML patients we do not encounter any complex translocation involving chromosome 8, 9 and 22.  Conclusions: Philadelphia chromosome is a precise cytogenetic marker the detection of which is significant for differential diagnosis and clinical organization of patients with clinical diagnosis of CML. It is of significant that Ph chromosome occurs in pre-leukemic stage and has great diagnostic significance.

Evaluation of Physical Properties of Ternary Polymeric Blends

Polymers and polymer composites have ruled over the research activities all over the world during the last few decades. Tremendous amount of new material is being added to the existing material. These new materials are replacing the conventional material rapidly. The nanomaterials have even ruled out every other type of material and have found theirapplication in every field of life. The present work is also an attempt to synthesize a nanomaterial with enhanced electrical and thermal properties so that it can be used in electrical and electronic devices.This study deals with the preparation and characterization of polymer blend composites i.e. PMMA/PEO/PVAc/Cu (PMC), PMMA/PEO/PVAc/LiClO4(PML) and PMMA/PEO/PVAc/MWCNT (PMN). Copper nanoparticles were prepared by chemical reduction method. The multi walled carbon nanotubes were functionalized.The composition of the polymer film was fixed and to this was added MWCNT,copper nanoparticles and lithium perchlorate to make different compositions of the blend composites.Various techniques like AC Impedance, Rheology, XRD, SEM and TGA/DTA were used for characterization. All the systems showed decrease in apparent viscosity and complex viscosity while increase in storage modulus. The increase in the LiClO4 content increased the crystallinity of PMMA/PEO/PVAc/LiClO4 blend composites,while decrease in crystallinity was observed for remaining two systems with increase in concentration of CNT and copper nanoparticles. PMMA/PEO/PVAc/Cu (PMC) blend nanocomposites showed highest conductivity and PMMA/PEO/PVAc/CNT (PMN) showed lowest conductivity. Thermal stability decreased for PMMA/PEO/PVAc/LiClO4 (PML) with increase in salt concentration while increase in MWCNT and Copper nanoparticles concentration was responsible for decrease in stability of PMMA/PEO/PVAc/CNT(PMN) and PMMA/PEO/PVAc/Cu (PMC).Onthe basis of degradation temperature, PMC blend nanocomposites showed highest thermal stability. SEM showed homogenity and no phase separation for PMMA/PEO/PVAc/CNTand PMMA/PEO/PVAc/Cu. This indicated positive interaction between the components of the systems. The prepared samples of the blend composites and nanocomposites were also characterized using AFM. The results showed a smooth topography of the prepared materials. The dispersion of the filler material was observed to be uniformly and evenly dispersed within the polymer blend matrix. It was found out that there was a complete compatibility between the polymeric material and the fillers in each blend composites.
