افسوس ہے گذشہ مہینہ ڈاکٹر یوسف حسین خاں بھی راہی ملک بقا ہوگئے۔ مرحوم ڈاکٹر ذاکر حسین صاحب مرحوم کے برادرخورد تھے اوران کی طرح بڑی خوبیوں اورکمالات کے بزرگ تھے۔جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ سے گریجویٹ ہونے کے بعد فرانس گئے اورپیرس یونیورسٹی سے پی ایچ۔ڈی کی ڈگری حاصل کی۔ان کا اصل مضمون تاریخ اورسیاست تھا اوراسی کے وہ جامعۂ عثمانیہ حیدرآباد میں پروفیسر تھے، لیکن ان کاانگریزی، فرنچ اورفارسی و اردو کے ادب وشعر کا مطالعہ نہایت وسیع اورتنقیدی ذوق اعلیٰ اورپختہ تھاچنانچہ ان کی کتابیں ’اردو غزل‘،’روح ِاقبال و حافظ‘، اردو لٹریچر میں شاہکار کی حیثیت رکھتی ہیں۔
فرانسیسی ادب اورغالب پربھی ان کی کتابیں ہیں۔دوکتابیں ہندوستان کے اسلامی عہد پر انگریزی میں ہیں۔اب آخر میں غالبؔ کے کلام کو انگریزی میں ترجمہ کررہے تھے۔ کرنل بشیر حسین زیدی علی گڑھ کے وائس چانسلر ہوئے تو انھوں نے مرحوم کو پرووائس چانسلر کے عہدہ پرعلی گڑھ بلایا، لیکن ۱۹۶۵ء میں نواب علی یاورجنگ سے نہ بنی تو مستعفی ہوکر دہلی چلے آئے اورنظام الدین اولیا میں ایک فلیٹ کرایہ پرلے کر رہنے لگے۔چند سال شملہ انسٹیٹیوٹ میں بھی فیلو رہے۔ عقائد کے معاملہ میں کٹر مسلمان تھے، طبعاً نہایت شریف،خوش اخلاق اور سنجیدہ وملنسار بزرگ تھے اﷲ تعالیٰ مغفرت وبخشش کی نعمتوں سے نوازے۔

Al-Ūdwī’s Theory of Iʿjāz Al-Qurʾān

Maulānā Muḥammad Ismāʿīl al-Ūdwī al-Shikārpurī (1897-1970) was one of the very prominent scholarly personalities of Pakistan. His life and works are studied and analyzed in detail elsewhere. (See. IRJAH, Faculty of Arts, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Vol. 42, 2014 and Ma’arif Research Journal, Islamic Research Academy, Karachi, issue. 13, 2017). This paper mainly deals with al-Ūdwī’s theory of iʿjāz al-Qurʾān. With regard to the theory of iʿjāz al-Qurʾān, classical scholars including al-Rummani, al-Khaṭṭābī, al-Baqillani, al-Rāzī significantly emphasize the linguistic nature of iʿjāz as an argument to support the doctrine of iʿjāz al-Qurʾān. Al-Ūdwī on the other hand, after accepting the linguistic iʿjāz of the Qurʾān, proceeds to go further than his predecessors in supporting the doctrine of iʿjāz al-Qurʾān by emphasizing and situating iʿjāz in the content of the Qurʾān. Therefore, his book Nūr al-Īqān bi iʿjāz al-Qurʾān seems to be considerably different in its arguments from his predecessors’ theory. There is no exaggeration to say that al-Ūdwī has distinctly added several new arguments in his book, which, according to him, provide the certainty in the doctrine of iʿjāz, as he names his book as Nūr al-Īqān bi Iʿjāz al-Qurʾān, ‘Light of the faith through the inimitability of the Qurʾān.

Sonophotocatalytic Degradation of Organic Pollutants in Aqueous Solutions under Visible Light Using Metal Impregnated Photocatalysts

The visible light induced semiconductor photocatalyst Ni impregnated ZnO was prepared by wet impregnation method. Impregnation of Ni on ZnO shifts the band gap from UV to Visible region. The present study involves the sonophotocatalytic degradation of acid violet 49 and acid blue 45 in the presence of photocatalyst Ni-ZnO under the irradiation of visible light. Degradation efficiency of sonophotocatalysis was higher than sonolysis, sonocatalysis, photolysis and photocatalysis. Photocatalyst was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Effect of different operational parameters such as pH, catalyst dosage, different oxidising agents, initial dye concentration, different scavengers, catalyst re-used ability, catalyst settling time and catalytic poisoning. Addition of enhancers increases the degradation efficiency and scavengers decrease the degradation. We found that Acid violet 49 and acid blue 45 degraded 100% at pH 10 in 20 minutes. Catalyst re-usability was checked up to five cycle and it gives a fruitful results. Kinetics study was also carried out and it was found that both of the dyes undergo pseudo first order kinetic model. All the experiments indicate that the sonophotocatalytic degradation method in the presence of Ni-ZnO was an advisable choice for the treatment of textile effluents.
