Foreword Two

Foreword Two

Brother Dr. Badr Hashemi has devoted care and attention to the tone and approach of the Translation and Paraphrasing of The Qur’an which is non-sectarian, true to the spiritual intent of Allah-consciousness, sincere toward leading to piety and righteousness.

The style of presenting the Translation, which proceeds smoothly in strict conformity with the Sacred Arabic Text and Paraphrasing (in italics) is persuasive that is inviting both for Muslim readers and others.

This is the most profound scholarly work of Brother Badr Hashemi. His monumental translation and annotation serve as a matchless aid to understanding the Holy Book of Islam and provides in itself a complete education in the faith. If one is new to the Holy Qur’an, I hope this book will provide a balanced view of the heart of the Qur‘an. If one is already a student of the Holy Qur’an, I hope this will perhaps awaken a new appreciation for the universal spiritual wisdom of the Book.

Reading a good translation such as this one can help us not only gain wisdom but also articulate this wisdom for others. I trust it would equally help in refining and fine tuning what everyone knows about the Qur’an, Islam, and Muslims.

May Allah accept this service to His Book, and enable his readers - especially students in colleges and universities - to make the best use of this valuable contribution to the Study of
The Qur’an.

توظيف وسائل الاتصال الحديثة في تعليم اللغة العربية

The Arabic language is the language of the Holy Quran, which has become an immortal language because of the immortality of the Holy Quran as it says: "Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian." It is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, especially since the language is the means of communication among the peoples of the world. Communication and technological techniques in learning and teaching the Arabic language taking into account the elements of the educational process (student, teacher and curriculum), according to the requirements of the age, and the development of the mechanisms of teaching the Arabic language with modern technologies that keep up with the times and developments. The aim of the research is to explain the impact of modern means of communication on the teaching of the Arabic language according to several axes: definition of the language, definition of the language in Arabic and the strategy of its publication, the definition of the modern means of communication and their types in the teaching of the Arabic language. The analytical approach will be used in this study. The researcher concluded at the end of this study to prove that the Arabic language faces many challenges in light of the great progress of the modern means of communication and technical progress; and that there are many obstacles in the use of educational technology in the teaching of the Arabic language, which prevents the achievement of the objectives of education. Solutions to this problem are, thus, suggested so as to improve the Arabic language and maintain its position among the languages of the world.

Isolation of Newcastle Disease Viruses from Live Birds Markets and National Zoological Parks in Lahore District

Avian orthoavulaviruse-1 (AOAV-1) including highly pathogenic strains, pose severe economic and animal health concerns in developing countries. Live Bird Markets (LBMs) in Asian countries are considered as hubs for the spread and maintenance of different avian infectious diseases. In developing countries, poultry trade is characterized by complex chains comprising of many factors with limited biosecurity. In Pakistan, there is lack of uniformity in practices used in LBMs, leading to heavy impact in the spread of the disease. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to identify risk factors associated with AOAV-1 infections and their genetic characterization in LBMs from eight-towns of Lahore district during 2016-2018. A total of 189 poultry stalls (n=1015 birds) distributed in eight-towns were visited and a pool of 5-6 oropharyngeal swab samples was collected from each stall and tasted by RT-PCR for the Fusion (F) gene. Ninety-one (91) of 189 swab samples were found positive for AOAV-1s.The overall prevalence of the AOAV-1in poultry stalls was 48.14% (95% Cl = 41.13-55.24) observed. Data for eleven potential risk factors acquired through detailed questionnaires were analyzed by survey-weighted logistic regression and prevalence odds ratios (OR) for associated risk factors were calculated. A total of 24 AOAV-1 isolates were sequenced to examine the circulating genotype through complete F-gene. A phylogenetic analysis revealed that all isolates belonged to sub-genotype VIIi, genotype VII class II. This study provides important information on epidemiology and control of AOAV-Iin Pakistan and highlights the importance of implementing surveillances and biosecurity practices in LBMs.
