پروفیسر سینتی کمار چٹرجی
گزشتہ مئی میں ملک کے مشہور ماہر لسانیات پروفیسر سینتی کمار چٹرجی کی وفات سے ایک عظیم علمی سانحہ ہوا، بنگال میں رابندرناتھ ٹیگور کے بعد ان ہی کی علمی شخصیت اُبھری، انھوں نے رابندرناتھ ٹیگور کے ساتھ رہ کر نہ صرف تربیت پائی، بلکہ ان کی شانتی نکیتن یونیورسٹی کی تاسیس میں ان کا بھی حصہ تھا، بنگال کے اس فلسفی شاعر نے ان کی جوانی ہی میں ان کی قدر کرنی شروع کردی تھی اور اپنی ایک کتاب ان کے نام سے معنون بھی کیا اور ان کو بھاشا اچاریہ کا خطاب دیا، جس کے معنی زبانوں کا پیشوا ہے، اس خطاب کے وہ مستحق تھے، وہ بنگال، سنسکرت، ہندی، پراکرت، فارسی، انگریزی، فرانسیسی، آئرش، گوتھک اور خدا جانے کتنی زبانیں جانتے تھے۔
کلکتہ اور لندن سے ڈگریاں حاصل کرکے یونیورسٹی میں ایک استاد کی حیثیت سے مقرر ہوئے، یہاں رہ کر انھوں نے جو شاندار کارنامے انجام دیئے، ان پر یونیورسٹی ہمیشہ ناز کرتی رہے گی، ہندوستان اور ہندوستان سے باہر کوئی علمی اعزاز ایسا نہ تھا جس سے وہ سرفراز نہیں کئے گئے، رابندر ناتھ ٹیگور کے ساتھ ملایا، سماترا، جاوا، بالی اور تھائی لینڈ گئے، تو وہاں ہندوستانی آرٹ اور کلچر پر ان کے لکچر بہت مقبول ہوئے، جس کے بعد علم و زبان کی تمام بین الاقوامی کانفرنسوں میں مدعو ہونے لگے، اسی سلسلہ میں بلجیم اور کوپن ہیگن کا سفر کیا، یونسکو کے علمی اجتماعات میں شرکت کے لئے کئی بار پیرس بلائے گئے، بیروت میں عربی و فارسی کی علمی و لسانی کانفرنس ہوئی تو وہاں خاص طور پر مدعو ہوئے، کلکتہ یونیورسٹی کی طرف سے اٹلی، برطانیہ، ہالینڈ اور ترکی کے تعلیمی حالات کا مطالعہ کرنے کے لئے بھیجے گئے، پن سلونیا یونیورسٹی کے وزیٹنگ پروفیسر بھی مقرر ہوئے، امریکہ کے قیام میں کولومبیا...

التلمیحات القرآنیۃ في کلام الشاعر الصوفي بلھے شاہ

This article deals with analytical studies of ‘’Kulliyat-e-Bullehy Shah تایلک ہاش ےھلب’’one of the most important Poetry book of Bullehy Shah Wich has been set up by Dr. Faqir Muhammad by Punjab Literature Academy and Published y from Lahore in 1960. In it, I have presented a short life sketch of Baba Bullehy Shah, who is recognized as the poet of Punjabi and poet of Islam. Baba Bullehy Shah is a world renowned personality. His poetry opens new horizons of knowledge for us. Especially it created ripples in the Arab world. He is included in great Islamic poets. He was conceiver of Sufiism in Punjab and proselytizer of Islam, Qura’n and Hadith are the obvious imprints on his poetry. He had great love for Qura’n. I intended to introduce it to the readers, particularly the Allusions )تاحیملت(used in this work. The real and literal meanings of such Allusions have been elaborated in it. I also have highlighted the Quranic Allusions used by Bullehy Shah in this work. And also analyzing them. In this paper it has been picked this aspect in his poetry that how much his poetry was in flounced by Islamic in junction.

Supporting English Reading Development in Four Year Old Children Through Storytelling: An Action Research

Development of reading skills is essential for young children's educational achievements. The pre- reading skills development is a complex and time consuming task, (Ahuja & Ahuja, 1994) which needs systematic instructional approaches and techniques to adopt. The National Curriculum for ECE (2007) has not only emphasized the importance of reading in early years but also highlighted the provision of a quality learning environment to acquire literacy skills. However, there are many gaps in understanding of what is emergent literacy development verses current practices at early classroom levels. This paper addresses this critical issue of early age education and presents a small action research in which story telling is used as a main teaching pedagogy to support young children in English reading skills. The main research question was "How can four-year old children be supported in developing their English reading skills in a private school in Karachi, Pakistan?" Through this study I observed and facilitated reading development over a two- week period. Four children of 4-5 years and two teachers were selected randomly as research participants and data were gathered by using different tools including classroom observations, individual interviews with teachers, pre and post-reading checklists and through reflections. The study findings demonstrated that children were able to develop literacy skills when they were involved in meaningful literacy activities. Furthermore, the research revealed that children learned best when the stories were connected with different fun filled activities. The findings of this study also demonstrated that teachers were inserting efforts to engage children in language and literacy activities; however, it was found that they did not provide frequent opportunities for their reading development and also did not engage children in activities which are highly recommended for emergent literacy development. In addition, the findings revealed that teachers needed professional development to implement innovative literacy pedagogies in the ECED classrooms. Furthermore, parents' and the school management's involvement is also important in developing children's emergent literacy. In conclusion, storytelling is an effective pedagogical approach that helps in developing pre-reading skills. Therefore, it should be used in ECED classrooms to facilitate young children's reading development.
