The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of financial leverage on financial performance of cement sector in Pakistan. By selecting the appropriate panel econometric technique among ordinary least squares (OLS), fixed effects and random effects, the association between financial leverage and financial performance of all cement companies listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange during 2008-2012 has been analyzed. The number of cement companies listed on KSE is 19. The empirical results depict that financial leverage has positive and statistically significant association with both proxies of financial performance which are return on assets (ROA) and Tobin?s Q. It is evident from these results that cement companies of Pakistan can reap the benefits of leverage if they create an appropriate mix of equity and debt in their capital structure. Among the control variables, firm size is positively and significantly associated with return on assets and negatively and insignificantly related with Tobin?s Q. Asset tangibility and return on equity have negative and insignificant association while it has inverse and significant relationship with Tobin?s Q. The liquidity is found to have positive and significant association with both financial performance measures (i.e. return on assets and Tobin?s Q) of the cement companies which show that efficient working capital management leads to better firm performance. The findings of this study have practical implications for corporate financial planners of cement sector to include an appropriate proportion of debt in their capital structure. Moreover, this study is also helpful for the financial policy makers of government to establish a strong bond market in Pakistan to facilitate the corporate sector for raising loans to reap the benefits of financial leverage.

Education is a series of processes of human empowerment towards maturity, both intellectually, mentally and morally, to carry out the humanitarian function carried as a servant (abd) in front of his Khaliq and as a "preserver" (caliph) in the earth. The position of contemporary education in the midst of the spirit of national education reform, of course it is necessary to look at the meaning and role of contemporary education in this national life. Similarly, in order to find a new paradigm of contemporary education, it should begin with the existence of Islamic education in the history of national and state life. And in developing the quality of contemporary education, of course it is necessary to pay attention. First, education is increasingly demanded to appear as emerging in the development of the quality of human resources (output of education). Second, in the perspective of the world of work, an orientation to real abilities (what one can do) that can be displayed by very strong education graduates Third, as a result of globalization.

Essay Writing in English: from Product to Process

The focus of this study was to help teachers develop an understanding of teaching essay writing through the writing process at the lower secondary level. Two language teachers of the lower secondary level participated in the study. The research study comprised of three stages, the exploratory stage, the intervention stage and the post-intervention stage. After getting the baseline data from the exploratory stage I intervened in various ways, such as sharing literature, giving teachers hands-on practice, involving them in lesson planning, team teaching and initiating discussions during and after each intervention. The purpose of this intervention was to help teachers in making a shift from product to process-oriented writing. The findings of the post- intervention phase reveal that teachers needed more time to develop an understanding of the new learning. Writing Process was found to be a useful strategy but it was difficult to fit it into the existing situation. The problems that were found to be significant was the load of syllabus completion which was making it difficult for teachers to implement Writing Process in essay writing classrooms. Writing Process helped in developing learners' essay writing skills provided sufficient time was allocated for writing. Implications for teachers and teacher educators is also discussed.
