Brain has long been considered as the origin of mental processes. In order to understand the development and state of migraine, one must look at the structure of brain, the genetics of the individual, and their life style. Migraine is a common neurological disorder. Pathophysiology of migraine is much complex and genetic factors along with environmental factors also contributes in the development of migraine. Migraines are characterized with recurrent headache, nausea, vomiting, photophobia and phonophobia. Migraine being a neurological disorder, known as the 13th major medical disorder among all the other major medical disorders spreading all across the world. International Headache Society divided migraine into two categories; as migraine with aura (MA) and migraine without aura (MO). In developing countries like Pakistan, patients of migraine took it as simple headache due to lack of awareness and prefer to do home medications instead of proper medical check-up. Study was based on assessment of blood samples which were collected from both migraine patients as well as control group of healthy people to know about the cause of migraine and to check the involvement of gene contributing to migraine. DNA was collected through inorganic method of extraction from blood samples, to perform PCR and RFLP-PCR for the assessment of SNP rs6265 of gene BDNF. But results obtained showed no association of rs6265 SNP with the studied samples of migraine.
