Mental retardation, now called as intellectual disability is neuropsychiatric disorder which may be present in children and newly youths. It is more common in males then in females because it is due to mutation in numerous genes on X chromosome. The male female ratio may be 1.3-1.9: 1.3. The affected individual often shows speech delay, slow performance and behavioral problems in them. The diagnosis of the MR/ID can be properly done before 18 years. The affected person of mental retardation has IQ level less than or equal to 70. The individuals affected with intellectual disability may be recognized by the certain characteristics like less performance at school, inability to take care of oneself and also showing inability to ensure self-safety. The IQ greater than 85 is considered as normal while individual IQ level b/w 71 to 84 is at border line. IQ level is more suitable for children having age more than 5 years. Despite more developments in investigation methods the etiological studies of mental retardation remain unclear in 30-50% cases. Mental retardation can be prenatal or postnatal. Less IQ level show more severity of the disease and vice versa. Mental retardation can be divided into four major types which can be described in the following lines to differentiate them from one another. Mild mental retardation is one in which affected person have IQ level 50-55 to 70, moderate MR/ID, IQ level is 35-40 to 50-55, severe intellectual disability or MR, IQ level is 20-25 to 35-40 while it is recommended that individual will be considered patient of profound mental retardation if his/her IQ level is lower than 20-25. The common causes of MR/ID may be chromosomal disorders, acquired CNS infections, fetal exposure to radiations, in October 2013 some 1149 genetic disorders have been identified to be associated with MR/ID. In this study four families from different areas of Baluchistan have been selected with two affected individuals ranging in age from 7-26 years. Pedigrees were drawn by the usage of Cyrillic software along with tests and blood samples were collected, DNA extraction was carried out by inorganic method. DNA was amplified by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). DNA sequencing was done to confirm any genetic defect in selected families. Bioinformatics tools like BioEdit and SeqMan was used for the sequence analysis of gene TM4SF20 to check any mutation in selected families, but no mutation in the selected families was found and it was concluded that there may be any other candidate gene responsible for mutation resulting in mental retardation in affected families.

آہ کیوں کرکہیے کہ۲۵/نومبر کوحج وزیارت حرمین شریفین کوجاتے ہوئے مظفری جہاز میں مولانا شاہ وصی اﷲ صاحب بھی رہ گزائے عالم جادوانی ہوگئے۔ اناﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون۔وفات کے وقت عمر۷۵برس تھی۔علوم دینیہ واسلامیہ کی تکمیل دارالعلوم دیوبند میں کی تھی اورحضرت الاستاذ مولانا محمد انورشاہ الکشمیری کے ارشد تلامذہ میں سے تھے۔جن حضرات نے مولانا کایہ زمانہ دیکھا ہے ان کا بیان ہے کہ طالب علمی کے زمانہ میں ہی رشد وہدایت کے آثارطالع روشن سے ہویدا تھے۔چنانچہ ایک مرتبہ ایک بزرگ نے فرمایا بھی تھا کہ اگر کسی کو مادر زاد ولی دیکھنا ہوتو وصی اﷲ کودیکھے۔طالب علمی کے زمانہ میں ہی حضرت تھانویؒ کی خدمت میں آناجاناشروع کردیا تھا۔آخرکار یہ رنگ اس درجہ غالب ہواکہ برسوں کی ریاضت اورمحنت ومشقت کے بعد اپنے پیرومرشد کے نہایت ممتاز خلیفہ اور جانشین ہوگئے۔شروع میں آپ کامرکز ِارشادوہدایت فتح پور تھا۔پھرالہٰ آباد منتقل ہوگئے اوراب گذشتہ چند برسوں سے بمبئی میں بھی قیام رہنے لگا تھا۔ آپ جس درجہ کے عارف باﷲ اورمحرم اسرارطریقت تھے اُسی درجہ کے عالم اور مبصر علوم دینیہ واسلامیہ بھی تھے۔قرآن مجید سے طبعاً بڑا شغف تھااور تفسیر آپ کا خاص فن تھا، چنانچہ روزمرہ کے معمولات میں درس قرآن بھی شامل تھا جس کی پابندی سے سختی فرماتے تھے اور اوراد و وظائف اورارشاد وہدایت کے دوسرے مشاغل کے ساتھ مطالعہ کتب کاسلسلہ برابر جاری رہتا تھا یہاں تک کہ سفر میں بھی کتابوں کابکس ساتھ چلتا تھا، درس یاگفتگو میں کوئی بات بغیر حوالہ کے نہیں فرماتے تھے۔

In Islamic point of view, the family is an institution that starts from the legal bond of marriage. The marriage is a contract that confirms the mutual rights of husband and wife. Including the other rights, one is the provision of maintenance to wife. The wife having leaving  her family and making a life time compromise to live with her husband reserves the right to be exempted from all kind of financial obligations. In Islamic family system, the husband is responsible both in legal and moral angles, to support his wife and provide the maintenance according to his financial status. Likewise, the wife has the right to demand the provision of maintenance from her husband. In time of none Provision, she can take this right through court. The wife reserves this right only if she is willing to live with her husband and does not disobey her husband’s reasonable orders. If it is so, then the stand for provision of maintenance shall be treated as invalid. In this paper, the matter of maintenance provision and its related problems have been discussed in contrast with the Pakistan family Laws which will provide a profound knowledge to the readers.

New Diagnostic Methods for Influential Observations in Linear Regression With Some Biased Estimation Methods

This thesis is concerned with the expansion of diagnostic methods in parametric regression models with some biased estimators. Of which, the Liu estimator, modified ridge estimator, improved Liu estimator and ridge estimator have been developed as an alternative to the ordinary least squares estimator in the presence of multicollinearity in linear regression models. Firstly, we introduce a type of Pena’s statistic for each point in Liu regression. Using the forecast change property, we simplify the Pena’s statistic in a numerical sense. It is found that the simplified Pena’s statistic behaves quite well as far as detection of influential observations is concerned. We express Pena’s statistic in terms of the Liu leverages and residuals. For numerical evaluation, simulated studies are given and a real data set has been analyzed for illustration. Secondly, we formulated Pena’s statistic for each point while considering the modified ridge regression estimator. Using this statistic, we showed that when modified ridge regression was used to mitigate the effects of multicollinearity, the influence of some observations could be significantly changed. The normality of this statistic was also discussed and it was proved that it could detect a subset of high modified ridge leverage outliers. The Monte Carlo simulations were used for empirical results and an example of real data was presented for illustration. Next, we introduce a type of Pena’s statistic for each point in the improved Liu estimator. Using this statistic, we showed that when the improved Liu estimator was used to mitigate the effects of multicollinearity, the influence of some observations could be significantly changed. The ridge estimator having growing and wider applications in statistical data analysis as an alternative technique to the ordinary least squares estimator to combat multicollinearity in linear regression models. In regression diagnostics, a large number of influence diagnostic methods based on numerous statistical tools have been discussed. Finally, we focus on ridge version of Nurunnabi et al. (2011) method for identification of multiple influential observation in linear regression. The efficiency of the proposed method is presented through several well-known data sets, an artificial large data with high-dimension and heterogeneous sample and a Monte Carlo simulation study.
