آہ! مولانا ابوسلمہؒ

۲۲؍ دسمبر کی دوپہر کو کلکتہ کے مسلمان ایک بڑے المناک سانحہ سے دوچار ہوئے، یہ سانحہ حضرت مولانا ابوسلمہ شفیع احمد صاحبؒ کی رحلت ہے، جو ۵-۴ ماہ کی طویل اور صبر آزما علالت کے بعد ۷۳ سال کی عمر میں اپنے مالک حقیقی سے جاملے۔ اناﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون، دوسرے دن صبح ۳۰:۱۲ بجے ان کے ہزاروں عقیدت مندوں اور جان نثاروں نے ان کے جسدخاکی کو پارک سرکس سے متصل ایک قبرستان میں جس کا نام ہم ’گورغریباں‘ ہے، یہ کہہ کر سپردخاک کیا کہ:
اے تیرہ خاک خاطرِ مہماں نگاہ دار
کیں نورچشم ماست کہ دربر گرفتہ ای
نور اﷲ مرقدہٗ و برد اﷲ مضجعہ
مولانا مرحوم کے نام اور مقام سے مجھے بہت پہلے سے واقفیت تھی، البتہ باقاعدہ نیاز اور تقریب ۱۹۵۹ء میں حاصل ہوا، جب مجھے مدرسۂ عالیہ کلکتہ کی پرنسپلی تفویض ہوئی اور میں مدرسہ پہنچا، مولانا مدرسہ کے ممتاز ترین اساتذہ میں تھے، تفسیر اور حدیث ان کے خاص موضوع تھے اور ان دونوں فنون کی بیشتر متداول کتابوں پر ان کی گہری نظر تھی، وہ مدرسہ کی اونچی جماعتوں میں درس دیتے تھے اور بڑی عزت و احترام کی نظر سے دیکھے جاتے تھے۔ میں مدرسہ میں کم و بیش ۵ سال رہا۔ اس پوری مدت میں میرے ان کے تعلقات مخلصانہ رہے اور جب میں وہاں سے رخصت ہوا تو اس کے بعد بھی ان کا اخلاص برابر جاری رہا۔ وہ اکثر میرے غریب خانہ پر تشریف لاتے، گھنٹوں بیٹھتے تھے۔ راقم الحروف بھی ان کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوتا تھا، ان ملاقاتوں میں اکثر علمی گفتگو ہوا کرتی تھی، کبھی کبھی حالات حاضرہ پر بھی تبصرہ ہوا کرتے تھے، مولانا ان مجلسوں میں علم و حکمت کے موتی بکھیر دیتے تھے۔

Two of the most significant KPIs, liquidity and profitability, are used to gauge a company's success. In order to examine the financial health and profitability of selected Indian oil and gas businesses, this study was performed. From 2016-17 through 2020-21, the top five listed firms by market capitalization are Reliance Industries Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL). Four ratios have been used to evaluate the financial and profitability positions of chosen organizations, including the current ratio, the quick ratio, the net profit ratio, and the return on invested capital. An ANOVA with a 5% threshold of significance was employed to test the hypotheses. The study's main conclusion is that Reliance industries Ltd's liquidity and profitability performance is superior to those of other chosen oil and gas firms.
Editorial cartoons form a key part of newspapers, offering much-needed comic relief to acres of news stories. Godfrey Mwapembwa, popularly known by his pen name Gado, has been described by the Financial Times as East Africa’s most important syndicated cartoonist. Yet no extensive scholarly study has been done on the way Gado frames his drawings. This study analysed how politics, politicians and political issues are framed in Gado’s editorial cartoons by looking at his illustrations published by The Standard between November 1, 2018 and October 31, 2019. It starts with a brief look at modern trends in editorial cartoons. The study was guided by three objectives: (i) to determine the main characters and symbols in Gado’s political cartoons; (ii) to analyse the dominant themes in Gado’s political cartoons, and; (iii) to analyse the framing of politics, politicians and political issues in Gado’s political cartoons. To answer the research questions, guided by the framing theory, the study collected 60 cartoons through a systematic random sampling technique and employed a thematic analysis to understand and interpret the data. By executing a framing analysis of select cartoons, this study found that characters, symbols and words –the main elements used by Gado to frame the messages in his illustrations- help advance and push the boundaries of press freedom in saying the unsayable and writing the unprintable in a way no other media can do and in ways that are more provocative than in traditional media. The study also concluded that Gado’s interpretations of news events deepen and extend newspaper readers understanding of news developments and that by use of simple lines, words, characters and symbols, cartoonists effectively breakdown and communicate complex developments for the masses.
