عشقی الہاشمی(۱۹۰۹ء ۔۱۹۸۳ء)کا اصل نام جعفر علی اور عشقیؔ تخلص کرتے تھے۔ عشقیؔ سیالکوٹ کے سادات نقوی خاندان میں ہوئے۔ آپ عربی فارسی میں خدا داد قابلیت رکھتے تھے اور علومِ شرقیہ کے بہترین اساتذہ میں شمار ہوتے تھے۔ عشقیؔ نے شاعری میں علی طالب الہٰ آباد ی اور لسان الہند مرزا ہادی عزیز لکھنوی سے فیض حاصل کیا۔ سیالکوٹ میں عشقیؔ کے بہت زیادہ شاگرد تھے۔ جنھوں نے اُردو شاعری میں اعلیٰ مقام حاصل کیا۔ اصغر سودائیؔ اور تابؔ اسلم جیسے کاملِ فن شعرا عشقیؔ کے تلمذ میں رہے۔(۴۵۶)

آپ نے مجلہ در’’نجف‘‘ میں بحیثیت مدیر معاون کام کیا۔ ’’شبابِ اردو‘‘ ،اور’’نوروز‘‘ کی ادارت بھی سنبھالی ۔اور امر تسر کے ہفت روزہ ’’مجلہ آرٹ‘‘ کے مدیر بھی رہے۔ (۴۵۷) ’’سر شک بہار‘‘ ،’’مطلع الانوار‘‘ ،’’سوزو ساز‘‘ ،’’سہا و سمن‘‘ اور ’’غزلستان‘‘ عشقیؔ کے چار شعری مجموعے ہیں۔’’العروض ‘‘تصنیف میں فنِ شاعری پر تنقید اور تبصرے شامل ہیں۔(۴۵۸)

عشقیؔ روایتی شاعر ہیں ان کے ہاں کوئی جدت نظر نہیں آتی۔ عشقی ؔ کے اسلوب پر دبستان دہلی اورلکھنو کے اثرات بھی دیکھے جا سکتے ہیں ۔ اُن کی غزلیات چھوٹی اور لمبی بحروں میں ہیں ۔شاعری میں قافیہ اور ردیف پر بہت زور دیتے ہیں ۔ان کی اکثر غزلیات کی طویل ردیفیں ہیں ایسا لگتا ہے جیسے وہ شاعری پر قافیہ اور ردیف کو فوقیت دیتے ہیں ۔ مذکورہ بالا خامیوں کے باوجود عشقیؔ کے ہاں آفاقی موضوعاتِ شاعری بھی موجود ہیں۔ اخلاقیات،رجائیت،قومیت،حقیقت پسندی،اصلاح ،عشقِ مجازی اور عشقِ حقیقی عشقیؔ کی شاعری کے اہم موضوعات ہیں اس حوالے سے نمونہ کلام ملاحظہ ہو:

In Sciences of Hadith Modhog )"refer to the narrations originating from some narrators by self or from those narrators who had been found, with solid arguments, telling a lie rather than from other well-accepted sources that quote the prophet Muhammad (SAWS), his Sahaba or Tabieen. These wrongly attributed "traditions" got mingled with the Islamic Literature from various sources and the people used to quote them from one another without being properly probed and analyzed. During the era of the compilation of tafa'asir of the Holy Quran, some Arabic commentators mistakenly quoted those traditions in their respective tafa'asir. Many tafa'asirs contain a large number of such traditions. Some Urdu tafa'asirs relied upon Arabic tafa'asirs without analyzing those traditions and quoted them. Tafsir Maarif ul Quran is also one of those referred tafa'asirs. It is a need of the day that the research scholars in Islamic Studies should focus on this issue and all these tafa'asirs should be carefully analyzed and made free from baseless "Modhug Traditions". This research effort is an attempt to give a base for analyzing such traditions and to protect Islamic literature from the Modhog traditions

Promoting Elite Culture by Pakistani Tv Channels

The study “Promoting Elite Culture by Pakistani TV channels” intends to investigate how media in Pakistan has portrayed the elite culture which may be differentiated as one of the leading social class through the different living standards including the lifestyle, the unique ideas and fabricated stuff from the rest of the society. The key focus of the study is to meet the objectives to find out; whether TV programs are changing the culture of Pakistani society; whether Pakistani drama is promoting western dressing culture; whether morning show is promoting dance and expensive dress culture; and whether promoting elite culture by Pakistani TV channels. The researcher used both quantitative and qualitative methodologies for data collection. The survey method is used for the quantitative part using the questionnaire as a tool and collects data from 300 males and 300 female’s respondent’s residents of Lahore, Gujrat and Islamabad having age ranging 18 to 60. On the other hand expert interviews conducted from two social sciences academicians and media professionals in qualitative part. This study used cultivation analysis by Gerbner and social learning by Bandura as a theoretical framework. The demographic analysis shows that majority of the respondents have age 18-30 years, intermediate education, single marital status and are students have point of view that entertainment TV channels, drama and morning shows are promoting elite culture. Hypothesis analysis shows that entertainment TV channels, drama and morning show are positively imposing elite class culture on the rest of the society. Findings also show that Pakistani entertainment TV channels, ARY digital drama and GEO entertainment morning show is promoting elite culture and the hypotheses are statistically approved. The researcher used SPSS applying One-Way ANOVA test and applied post Hoc Tukey test. Academicians and media professionals conclude that television dramas and morning shows are promoting an elite culture in a society. Luxurious homes, expensive cars, parties, use of alcohol, drugs, and romance are promoted in drama. While morning shows are mostly in agreement on heavy dresses, makeup, dance competitions, wedding ceremonies including Mehndi, couple dancing and song competitions.
