This product is named as Onboard Intelligent DeviceOBID. It will be fittedin nominated public transport buses. This device will essentially collect and store data from the vehicle network. The device functionality is divided into three categories which are Environment Sensing, Vehicle Management and Security. The objective is to increase the vehicle's capability to automate and perform various functions such as monitoring the internal parameters, the engine’s condition, location of the bus and passenger notifications. The processor will communicate all the dynamics with a control center which will be accessible to the public. It will also be able to take smart decisions when encountered with familiar situations. The collected data is analyzed in the form of graphs and charts generated by the software which is deployed at the control center. With the help of acquired data carbon footprints, fuel consumption, traffic emissions, vehicle health, predicting the driver behavior, forecasting of rush-hours and predicting the vehiclemaintenance requirements can be estimated. The device is packaged in to a box with proper considerations of reliability in terms of power, interface terminals, storage and cabling. The OBID is a step towards automation and control and will help monitor and control parameters better than before. This data will help the concerned people in the whole process of taking any required action on time. The biggest advantage is that people can plan their journeys ahead of time
