Universalization of Primary Education and eradication of Child Labour are world’s common issues. There is a dire need to explore and search out the root causes of these two opponent issues those which reciprocate each other. This study tries to unveil all the visible and invisible forces behind these issues which not only hinder Universalization of Primary Education, but also escalate Child Labour. The main reasons for Child Labour in many countries including Pakistan and particularly in the 3rd world nations is lack of basic education which is mainly caused by poverty, lack of educational institutions, community participation, enrollment campaigns, location, socio-economic of the child’s family, family background, gender discrimination, high educational expenses and the dropouts due to teacher’s harsh behaviour. This study attempts to assess and search out the causes of Child Labour and its adverse impact on Universalization of Primary Education at District Bannu. Objectives of this study were: to explore the determinants of Child Labour and Universalization of Primary Education, to identify different factors responsible for Child Labour as perceived by parents of the Child Labourers, to find out different kinds of hurdles in the Universalization of Primary Education as experienced by Teachers and to analyze the impact of Child Labour on Universalization of Primary Education at District Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The study was a blend of different methods for which exploratory sequential design (QUAL+QUAN) was applied by the researcher. The population of current study comprised all the parents or guardians of the total 992 Child Labourers and 2939 teachers teaching at primary level at District Bannu. The sample of the study for Qualitative phase comprised twenty participants for interview (10 male + 10 female Child Labourers). Similarly for Quantitative phase it consisted of 147 teachers and 100 parents/guardians of Child Labourers. For Qualitative data collection 20 open-ended interviews were conducted and for Quantitative data collection a self-developed questionnaire for teachers and a separate structured questionnaire for parents/guardians based on Qualitative findings were distributed among them to know their perceptions regarding Child Labour and Universalization of Primary Education. For Qualitative data analysis NVIVO (V-10) was used which provided determinants in the form of main themes. Similarly for Quantitative data analysis SPSS (V-24) supported by descriptive statistics in terms of percentage, frequency, mean and standard deviation, while ANOVA, Correlation, Regression, Chi square and T-test was used as inferential statistics by the researcher. From the findings it was concluded that Child Labour which is mostly caused by poverty, teacher’s behaviour, child status, family status and location was a real and the biggest challenge for the Universalization of Primary Education. Therefore, it is recommended to the agencies and concerned high ups to eliminate Child Labour through effective implementation of universal compulsory primary education without any further delay.

Error-free printing of Qur’ānic Text is a collective duty of all Muslims. The fact remains that Muslims have performed this duty with devotion and rightly. They also arranged sittings to discuss "Rasm" and " Ḍabt"(رسم اور ضبط) to understand the crux of matter and provide an expression to the most authentic text. No Muslim can intentionally commit any kind of mistake in the text of Qur’ān. However, such possibilities of error cannot be denied due to negligence and inadvertency. The Ministry for Religious Affairs has made it obligatory for all the printing institutions of Qur’ānic text to follow the model of the Qur’ānic manuscript, produced by Anjman Ḥimāyat-e-Islām, yet many Qur’ānic manuscripts with errors are present in the market. Such manuscripts are not only present in some mosques, but also recited. It causes problems in recitation of those verses and might changing the meaning of them. This article points out such scriptures and errors, so it can be identified and to take steps for preventive measures for such errors in future. This article also suggests some policies and strategies for publishing of Qur’ān for avoiding misprints errors.

The Relationship Between Corporate Governance and Firm Value: Role of Discretionary Earnings Management Corporate governance practices help in enhancing firm value by effectively monitoring the managerial decisions as well as reducing the level of information asymmetry and agency problem between empowered managers and dispersed minority shareholders. The present study investigates the relationship between corporate governance and firm value for the developing economy of Pakistan. The study has also taken into consideration the moderating role of discretionary earnings management in corporate governance-firm value relationship, which is considered to be a relatively ignored research issue in corporate finance literature. In addition to focusing on individual mechanisms of corporate governance (i.e. audit, board, compensation, ownership), the present study has also constructed a composite corporate governance index to investigate the role of effective corporate governance in mitigating earnings management and enhancing firm value. The data of 208 firms listed at Karachi Stock Exchange for a time period of 2004- 2011 has been used for analysis and accounting, market and economic measures of performance have been used as firm value. The study finds that corporate governance plays a vital role in enhancing firm value in long as well as short run. Constitution of internal audit committees as an effective internal audit system is essential for the enriched progress of a firm. The monetary incentives and compensation paid to the top executives motivates them to work in the best interests of the company which increases not only short term accounting value of firm but also long term market and economic value. The findings reveal that discretionary earnings management practices by corporate managers damage the firm value in long term and it could be mitigated by effective corporate governance mechanisms. Moreover, this value damaging role of discretionary earnings management negatively moderates between effective corporate governance and firm value. Firms with earnings manipulation weakens the impact of effectiveness of governance system and leads to lower firm value. Finally, the study suggests some practical implications based upon the findings for investors, policy makers and manager.
