The study is an attempt to understand Chinese rapid economic growth and its impact on China – Pakistan relations from 2001 to 2014. The incidents of 9/11 had severe impact on global economic scenario resulting in global recession. Ironically, by the end of 2001 the major growth polls of the world slipped into recession, it caused serious damage to the economies of the developing countries particularly Pakistan as it was a front line state in war against terror. As a result of recession, imports and exports, industrial production, tax revenue and foreign direct investment were badly affected in Pakistan which resulted in huge economic loss - approximately US$ 67 billion. Due to emergence of terrorism since 9/11, foreign direct investment in Pakistan declined and thus, a large amount of Chinese Foreign direct investment was directed towards Latin America and Africa which affected the economy of Pakistan. The present study highlights core areas of economic cooperation between China and Pakistan, which can further strengthen Pakistan’s economy, resulting in a win – win situation in trade between the two countries. The research adopts and follows the theories of Liberalism and highlights the Flying Geese model in the economic and trade affairs between the two countries. Further, the study seeks to find out possible ways to overcome the weak areas of trade between China and Pakistan for better economic relations between both the countries, in which Pakistan could also gain more benefit. The study provides a baseline to the policy makers in Pakistan to overcome the weaknesses due to which Pakistani exports could not find a suitable place in the Chinese market.

نام زینب ؓ ، کنیت ام الحکم ، قبیلہ قریش کے خاندان اسد بن خزیمہ ہے ۔ان کاپہلا نام برہ تھا ۔ آپ ﷺ نے تبدیل فرما کر زینب رکھا ۔( مسلم شریف حدیث نمبر ۲۱۴۲)
آنحضرت ﷺ کے نکاح میں آنے سے قبل آپ ﷺ کے متبنیٰ بیٹے زید بن حارثہ کے عقد میں تھی ۔ وہ آنحضرت ﷺ کی پھوپھی زاد بہن تھی ۔اس وقت عرب معاشرہ میں دستور تھا کہ غلاموں سے مناکحت کو باعث ننگ و عار سمجھتے تھے ، یہی وجہ ہے کہ جب آنحضرت ﷺ نے سیدہ زینب ؓ کو اپنے غلام زید بن حارثہ ؓسے شادی کرنے کا پیغام دیا تو زینب ؓ اور ان کے بھائی عبداللہ بن جحش ؓ نے صاف انکار کردیا ۔ اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی ۔’’ وماکان لمومن ولا مومنۃ اذاقضی ٰ اللہ و رسولہ امرا ان یکون لھم الخیرہ من امر ھم و من یعص اللہ و رسولہ فقد ضل ضلا لاََمبینا ‘‘۔ اس آیت میں مومن سے عبداللہ بن جحش ؓ اور مومنہ سے زینب ؓ مراد ہیں ۔ مطلب یہ ہے کہ کسی مومن اور مومنہ کے لیے یہ زیبا نہیں کہ جب اللہ اور اس کا رسول کوئی فیصلہ دے دے تو ان کو اپنے معاملہ میں کوئی اختیار رہے اور جس نے اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی نافرمانی کی بلا شبہ کھلی گمراہی میں مبتلا ہوا ۔اس لیے اس آیت کے نزول پر دونوں بہن بھائی راضی ہو گئے اور بحکم خدا وندی حضرت زینب ؓ کا نکاح حضرت زید ؓ سے ہو گیا ۔ شادی تو ہو گئی مگر لڑائی ہوتی رہتی جس سے زید ؓ آنحضرت ﷺ سے اس معاملہ کی شکایت کرتے اور عرض کرتے کہ میں زینب ؓ کو چھوڑ دیتا ہوں لیکن آپﷺ اسے...

Christian-Muslim Theological Dialogue: The Case of Catholic Universities of East Africa

Christians and Muslims interact on a daily basis but as far as their beliefs and practices are concerned, there is a general mutual apprehension, suspicion, stereotyping, mistrust, insulting and even physical confrontations. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to examine how Catholic universities in East Africa can help Christian students and others to rethink their attitudes towards Muslims in view of the official teaching of the Church. The findings from the reviewed formal Christian and Muslim statements show that theological dialogue is valid and necessary for fostering peaceful relations. It therefore urges Catholic universities and other learning institutions to assist students to know more about their own religious traditions and those of others through formal theological training, seminars and provision of reading materials in order to participate effectively in this kind of dialogue.

Unsteady Flows of Some Rate Type Fluids

This thesis deals with the unsteady flow behavior of some rate type fluids under different circumstances. Firstly, some basic definitions and concepts regarding fluid motion and methods to solve the flow problems have been discussed. Then the motion of ordinary Maxwell fluids and that of Oldroyd-B fluids with fractional derivatives over an infinite plate is studied. In chapter 2, we have studied the unsteady motion of a Maxwell fluid over an infinite plate that applies an oscillating shear to the fluid which is the extension of some previously obtained results. After time t = 0+ the fluid motion is produced by applying an oscillating shear. Fourier and Laplace transforms are used to find exact solutions that are presented as a sum of steady-state and transient solutions. They describe the motion of the fluid some time after its initiation. After that time, when the transients disappear, the motion of the fluid is described by the steady-state so- lutions that are periodic in time and independent of initial conditions. Finally, the time to reach the steady-state is determined. Similar solutions for Newtonian fluid are obtained as particular cases of general solutions by making λ → 0. The purpose of chapter 3, is to extend the first problem of Stokes to incom- pressible Oldroyd-B fluids with fractional derivatives. The Fourier sine and Laplace transforms are used. The solutions that have been obtained, are presented as a sum between the Newtonian solutions and non-Newtonian contributions. The non- Newtonian contributions, as expected, tend to zero for α = β and λ → λr . Fur- thermore, the solutions for ordinary Oldroyd-B, fractional and ordinary Maxwell, fractional and ordinary second grade fluid, performing the same motion, are obtained as limiting cases of general solutions. The present solutions for ordinary Oldroyd-B and second grade fluids are verified by comparison with previously known results. Finally, the influence of material and fractional parameters on the fluid motion, as well as a comparison among fractional and Newtonian fluids, is analyzed by graphical illustrations. vii viii In chapter 4, our concern is to study the velocity field corresponding to the Stokes’ problems for fluids of Brinkman type. The solutions that have been ob- tained, are presented under suitable forms in terms of the classical solution of the first problem of Stokes for Newtonian fluids or as a sum between the steady-state and transient solutions. Furthermore, for α → 0 they are going to the well-known solutions for Newtonian fluids. The required time to reach the steady-state, as well as the temporal decay of the transients corresponding to the second problem of Stokes, has been determined by graphical illustrations. The aim of chapter 5, is to establish exact and approximate expressions for dissi- pation, the power due to the shear stress at the wall and the boundary layer thickness corresponding to the motion of an Oldroyd-B fluid induced by a constantly acceler- ating plate. Similar expressions for Maxwell, second grade and Newtonian fluids, performing the same motion, are obtained as limiting cases of general results. Some specific features of the four modelss are emphasized by means of the asymptotic approximations.
