Environmental pollution caused by heavy metals are of great concern now a day as it pose a great threat to human, animals and plants by entering into food chain and living tissue. A large number of heavy metals are being under consideration worldwide due to their potent environmental effects. Chromium (Cr) is one of them causing serious environmental damages. The irrigation of important food crops and vegetables with industrial and municipal wastewater might have human and animals to a significant health risk. For the remediation of heavy metal contaminated soils and water, the most economically effective, ecologically safe and environmental friendly technique is phytoremediation. Few hyper-accumulator edible crops such as, brassica and sunflower are subject to accumulate higher concentration of heavy metal from moderate to highly contaminated soils. Keeping in view the above scenario, this research was conducted to study the morpho-physiological and biochemical mechanisms of sunflower involved in Cr tolerance. Six Faisalabad Hybrids, FH-614, FH-600, FH-619, FH-620, FH-425, FH-612 varieties were selected and one best Cr tolerant variety was chosen for further experiments. The present study was divided into four sub studies. Prior to pot experiment, a short seed germination test was run under different Cr levels (0, 10, 50 and 100 µM) in petri dishes. The selected varieties were grown in Cr spiked soil (0, 5, 10 and 20 mg kg-1) in a pot experiment under natural conditions. Plant height, root length,fresh and dry biomass of root, stem and leaves, chlorophylls and SPAD value, carotenoids, water use efficiency (A/E), transpiration rate (E), stomatal conductance (gs)and photosynthetic rate (A) were measured. The enzymatic activities of antioxidants, such as ascorbate peroxidase (APX), superoxide dismutase (SOD), guaiacol peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), reactive oxygen species such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), malondialdehyde (MDA), electrolyte leakage and soluble proteins both in roots and leaves were also measured. Cr contents in roots, stem and leaves were determined. The best tolerant variety of sunflower FH-614 was screened and selected for further experiments. Then, same variety of sunflower (FH-614) was grown in Cr spiked soil (0, 5, 10 and 20 mg kg-1) and citric acid (CA) (0, 2.5 and 5mM) and 5-aminoluvulinic acid (ALA) (0, 10 and 20 mg L-1) with factorial arrangement to investigate the promoting role of ALA and chelating effects of CAin Cr stressed plants alone and in combinations. All morpho-physiological and biochemical attributes of sunflower were measured under Cr, CA and 5-ALA. The statistical data revealed that Cr significantly decreased the agronomic traits of all six selected hybrids along with biochemical and physiological changes. The second study (Cr +CA) showed same trend of Cr stress but the application of CA alleviated the Cr induced toxicity and also enhanced the Cr concentration and accumulation in plant tissues. The third study (Cr+5-ALA) depicts similar results to second study but the combined application of CA and 5-ALA under Cr stressed plants in fourth study showed additive effects in alleviating Cr induced toxicity and accumulation of Cr in plant tissues. In combined application, CA enhanced the mobility and solubility of Cr in soil while 5-ALA regulated the normal functioning of plant metabolism which capable plant to accumulate higher concentration of Cr and translocated it to higher parts (stem and leaves). The present study suggested that the combined application of CA and 5-ALA to sunflower plants grown in Cr contaminated soils can enhance the phytoextraction of Cr and a suitable management technique for the Cr contaminated soils. The possibility of combined CA and 5-ALA for other heavy metals and plants required more detailed studies in future to combat heavy metal pollution.

گذشتہ نومبر میں انگلستان کے مشہور ماہر نفسیات ولیم میکڈوگل کا انتقال ہوگیا، وہ ۱۸۷۱؁ء میں لنکاشائر میں پیدا ہوا،مانچسٹر میں تعلیم پاکر کیمبرج یونیورسٹی میں داخل ہوا، اور آخر میں لندن یونیورسٹی سے طب کی ڈگری حاصل کی، لیکن نفسیات میں اس کا مطالعہ اتنا گہرا تھا کہ وہ لندن یونیورسٹی میں اس کا لکچرار مقرر ہوا، اور پھر ذہنی فلسفہ کا پروفیسر ہوکر آکسفورڈ چلاگیا، ۱۹۲۰؁ء میں وہ ممالک متحدہ بلالیا گیا، جہاں وہ ہارورڈ اور ڈیوک یونیورسٹی میں معلمی کے فرائض انجام دیتا رہا۔

الدور الوسيط للإبداع الإداري في العلاقة بين التسويق الإلكتروني وجودة الخدمات المصرفية على البنوك التجارية العاملة بالمملكة العربية السعودية (الراجحي، العربي، ساب)

هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على الدور الوسيط للإبداع الإداري في العلاقة بين التسويق الإلكتروني وجودة الخدمات المصرفية على البنوك التجارية العاملة بالمملكة العربية السعودية (الراجحي، العربي، ساب). وتمثلت مشكلة الدراسة في السؤال الرئيس التالي: هل الإبداع الإداري يتوسط العلاقة بين التسويق الإلكتروني وجودة الخدمات المصرفية بالبنوك التجارية العاملة بالمملكة العربية السعودية (الراجحي، العربي، ساب) ؟ استخدم المنهج الوصفي، تم استخدام اسلوب الحصر الشامل، وصممت استبانة لجمع البيانات، تم بناء نموذج الدراسة وفرضياته اعتماداً على أدبيات الدارسة. تم توزيع عدد 205 استبانة، حيث بلغت نسبة البيانات الصالحة للتحليل 100%. وكذلك تم الاعتماد على نمذجة المعادلة البنائية (SEM) وفيها استخدم برنامج Amos)) وتم استخدام اختبار ألفا كرونباخ للاعتمادية واستخدام أسلوب تحليل المسار لاختبار فرضيات الدارسة. توصلت الدراسة الي وجود توسط جزئي للإبداع الإداري في العلاقة بين التسويق الإلكتروني وجودة الخدمات المصرفية. اوصت الدراسة بان على المصارف التجارية الاهتمام بالإبداع الإداري ودعم العاملين لتقديم الأفكار الجديدة وتطوير العمل بتلقائية ويسر. وضرورة ان تقدم المصارف خدمات مصرفية ترضى العملاء. الكلمات المفتاحية: التسويق الإلكتروني، الترويج، الإبداع الإداري، المصارف.

Hardware Intrusion Detection Using Run-Time Parametric Analysis

The advancements in electronic systems and technology miniaturization have revolutionized the world in the last couple of decades. The higher complex ity of modern designs, economic constraints, and unprecedented pressure of time-to-market dictate the rationale of Integrated Circuit (IC) manufacturing from the third-party fabrication facilities. This rising trend of globalization in circuit design using nanoscale process technologies has increased their vulner ability against malicious intrusions and modifications. Such modifications, also referred as Hardware Trojans (HTs), can lead to highly detrimental con sequences like causing a circuit to subvert normal operation, leak sensitive information or inducing Denial of Service (DoS). These emerging issues are imposing formidable threats to security-critical applications particularly in the domains of military, communications, and Internet of Things (IoT). The conventional side channel analysis-based HT detection techniques mostly rely on simulations, which are typically exhaustive and computationally intensive. Moreover, it takes substantial resources and time for all-encompassing veri fication and analysis of the circuits. In this thesis, we apply the strengths of formal verification to complement simulation-based HT detection techniques by detailed behavioral analysis of circuits at the early stage of design. Formal methods are conclusive and well-established techniques which are used for description of complex sys vi vii tems in the form of mathematical models, and then use those models for rigorous analysis. In particular, we present a model checking-based formal framework that is broadly used to: (i) mathematically model an individual circuit for its functional and behavioral verification; (ii) analyze and quan tify vulnerability of a region in circuit against different types of HTs using multiple side-channel parameters; and (iii) identification of secure bounds for circuit operations in terms of its side-channel parameters. The outcome of the formal framework is used to design side channel-based sensor that comprehends the behavior of the circuit using a machine learning technique while incorporating the impacts of random process variations. The proposed framework serves to achieve the primary thesis goal of implanting intelligent sensor leveraging rigorous a-priori assessment of IC characteristics. The im plemented sensor can be subsequently used for post deployment identification of the HT-infected IC. To illustrate the practical effectiveness of the proposed infrastructure, we present the detailed analysis of multiple benchmark circuits. The formal framework and automated analysis technique, formulated during this thesis, proved effective in examining the impacts of malicious intrusions on multi ple side-channel parameters. Moreover, it provides flexibility in identifying the appropriate sensing units to incorporate security in the circuits while minimizing additional hardware.
