The current research was conducted to explore the effectiveness of physical exercise and sports participation in functional recovery; and efficacy of social skills training in the psycho social rehabilitation of patients with schizophrenia. Two experimental studies included single-subject experiment design and pretest-posttest experiment design was administered. The participants of single subject experiment design consisted of (N=14) male members of fountain house with age range (M=31.50, SD=7.06) selected though purposive sampling. The pretest-posttest experiment design was consisted of (N=30; experimental group= 15, control group=15) patients of schizophrenia with age range between 22-63 years and selected though purposive sampling and then randomly assigned into the two groups. Pre and post ratings of psychologists and self-reporting of the patients was used to see the effectiveness of both the experiment’s results. The results have shown strong therapeutic impact of physical exercise and sports participation on the patients with schizophrenia. The second experiment showed significant differences between experiment group and control group on psychologist rating, and self-rating. A great decrease of symptoms and higher psychosocial functioning was reported in experimental group after 12 weeks social skills training program with three months follow up on fortnightly basis .The control group after their post assessment also carried out 12 days condense Social Skills Training classes to benefit from the social Skills training program. The results are discussed in cultural context.
