Anjuman-i-islahul Afaghina was an educational, social, intellectual and political awakening movement often strived for the reformation of the Pakhtun society before partition. The educational services offered by the Anjuman contributed in quantity and quality to the disadvantaged Pakhtuns of the North West Frontier province, now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The literacy ratio of the province enhanced by 0.9 % between 1921 and 1931 after the establishment of the Anjuman-i- Islahul Afaghina in 1921, which was phenomenal at that time. The previous decade showed a decline in the literacy rate. Apart from its quantified goal, that it achieved, qualitative enrichment visualized in the form of creative learning. After the merge of the Anjuman in Khudai Khidmatgar movement in 1931 at its annual meeting, a new era of educational paradigm started in shape of education through non- formal mode. The Khudai Khidmatgar movement, innovative in approach, attained formidable success in educating the masses. Its awakening effort resulted in two consecutive wins for it in the general election of the province in 1937 and 1946. However, the regime foe, as usual, to its birth, de seated them twice. They, preliminary, were given ministries and not the government. The movement hosted a new theory of leadership attainable through training. Similar is the case with administration, management and supervision of an educational entity, to which ‘leadership training’ can add an organizational excellence. No doubt, the foe of the movement, the locals, and regimes across the Durand line, made extra ordinary barriers to it. However, the history upon the Pakhtuns, will preserve it, for the rest of the time. Its intellectual worth is sublime. The prose, poetry and other dictions of the Pashtu literature developed incredibly during the movement. The Pashtu drama, jingoistic poetry, poetic competitions, stage dramas, Azad Poems, trip writings and poetic associations, all have genetic roots in the movement. The Anjuman established more than 104 Azad schools in the entire province with some of them in tribal territories too. The number of students instructed from the schools was more than 9200, who was educated by more than 546 teachers. Half of the schools were forced to shut down, as a result of massive brutal treatment of the regime after the 1930 massacre of the Qissa Khwani Peshawar. The efforts, however, we’re not able to exhibit some of the schools in black and white, to the heritage of the history.

"Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ" has a sound rank among the Hadith collections. Its importance can be gauged from the fact that it has been described and summarized by several scholars. The works of Sheikh Abdul Haq Muḥaddith Dehlavi over that is a great contribution and have a special place in the context of his Hadith services. He is one of the prominent muhaddithin of the Subcontinent. He was pioneer in teaching and disseminating Hadith knowledge in the subcontinent. Firstly, he described the Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ in the Persian language of that time, which gained immense popularity among the people and increased the taste for understanding Hadith. Secondly, He accumulated a treasure trove of mysteries and secrets in Arabic for the use of Researchers. The name of the Persian commentary is Ash‘atul Lam‘āt while the Arabic commentary is called Lam‘āt al-Tanqīh. They are more than one in usefulness, which has created a taste for reading and understanding Hadith among the people and Researchers. In the said article, an introduction and methodological study of the work done by Sheikh Abdul Haq on Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ will be presented.

Development of Targeted Nano Drug Delivery System With Hybrid Materials for Cancer Therapy

Targeted treatment of cancer with new dexterous strategies using biocompatible materials is the hallmark of recent cancer research. In this study three innovative designs of targeted delivery systems with hybrid materials have been developed. Two nanosilica based passive systems are developed using stimuli specific to the tumour micro environment for the delivery of anticancer drugs. In zinc oxide based, active targeted system, the technique of receptor mediation through cancer cell membrane for its internalization has been adopted. The first system is hybrid material with nanosilica based bio-responsive drug delivery system. This system has been developed through a facile surface modification of the silica nanoparticles with biocompatible material. It showed higher entrapment efficiency for anticancer drug doxorubicin with sustained drug release behaviour in vitro. Unique feature of surface charge swapping in response to the lower pH of the tumour microenvironment significantly increased the cellular internalization of the nanocarriers into the tumour tissue as compared to other vital organs. The increased uptake and controlled release of anticancer drug co-jointly contributed to suppress the tumour growth in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC7) bearing nude mice. The second nanosilica based passive targeted system focused to target the hypoxic conditions of tumour. Surface modification of the nanoparticles with biocompatible moieties made the system nontoxic for biomedical applications These PEGylated hypoxia responsive nanocarriers contained higher amount of the anticancer drug and showed sustained release of the drug in hypoxic environment with no premature release in physiological or normoxic conditions. The third system is active targeted carrier possessing core material of zinc oxide functionalized with hyaluronic acid as targeting moiety. The system showed significantly improved cellular uptake, due to receptor mediated endocytosis in T-cells, with controlled release of anticancer drug. Doxorubicin loaded nanocarriers along with methyl aminolevulinate (m-ALA) showed increased cancer cell destruction in RD cells. The biocompatibility, drug loading and its release characteristics, cell uptake, intra cellular drug release, and antitumor efficacy have been evaluated for the above systems. The obtained results exhibited the success of the carriers for their biological response. These newly designed targeted delivery systems fabricated with hybrid materials possess strong potential to open new horizons in of controlled and site specific delivery of anticancer drugs with increased bioavailability and improved therapeutic efficacy
