The present study is an effort to put in plain words a concise chronological analysis of the shocking impact of floods caused by massive flooding striking the land mass of Pakistan with regular intervals. The majority of the major inundations in the history of Pakistan resulted in serious socio-economic damages and destructions to the most valuable and precious assets of the country. The study also scans the scope of previous efforts put by other scholars correlated with the impact of floods in Pakistan. The outcomes of merciless floods all over the country were assessed quantitatively of last 37 years (1973-2010). Pakistan has faced 17 floods of various magnitudes- 1973,1975,1976,1977,1978,1982, 1988, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and2010, among which around 50 percent were considered as major floods. This is first time in the history of Pakistan that socio-economic impact of floods have been comprehensively determined and analyzed from most of the available authentic resources. Recommendations have been made to ensure adequate and detailed availability of flooding events and to prevent huge damages in the future.

Secondary School Teachers Attitude Toward Teaching English as a Second Language: A Comparative Study

The study explores the comparative analysis of secondary school teachers’ attitude toward teaching English as a second language. The major objective of the study was; to find out secondary school teachers’ attitude toward teaching English related to different demographics. The researcher used quantitative research method that was descriptive in nature. The population of the study comprised all the male and female teachers at Secondary level in province of Punjab, Pak istan. The researchers selected the secon dary school teachers in districts: Lahore, Multan, Sialk ot and Vehari as the sample of the study. Questionnaire was used as a research tool for the study. The researchers distributed the questionnaire among the respondents of the study and collected data. For data analysis, researcher used the statistical techniques of mean score, t-test and ANOVA. The findings of the study informed that difference in mean scores of male and female teachers was not significant, t-value = -.075, p=.634>0.05. It was found that there was a significant difference in teachers’ attitude towards teaching English as second language having professional qualification of B.Ed. and M.Ed. at secondary school level, t-value = .521, p=.047<0.05. It was concluded that male and female respondents have almost same type of attitude of teaching English as second language.

Study of Non-Newtonian Fluids With Fractional Derivatives Using Integral Transforms

In this dissertation, a new semi analytical technique has been developed to determine the transformed solutions of non-Newtonian fluids subject to different circumstances involving fractional derivatives. The unsteady motion of viscoelastic fluids, such as Walters’-B fluid, Maxwell fluid, Oldroyd-B fluid and Burgers’ fluid involving fractional derivatives has been discussed with the developed technique. This semi analytical technique has less computational effort and time cost compared to other existing schemes in the literature. In Chapter 2, Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative have been developed to study the heat and mass transfer of free convective motion of Walters’-B fluid through an infinite porous vertical plate in the presence of magnetic field. In Chapter 3, the approximate solutions for velocity field and shear stress of a Maxwell fluid using Caputo fractional derivatives have been developed. In Chapter 4 and 5, Caputo fractional derivative has been developed to study velocity field and shear stress in an infinite long circular cylinder subject to an Oldroyd-B fluid and Burgers’ fluid, respectively.
