Due to globalization, advancement in technology and specialized knowledge of the workforce, business environment has become profoundly dynamic. To cope with this challenge, human resources are the only non-imitable resources that can increase the productivity and bring competitive advantage to a firm. In services industry, front-line employees play a critical role to get competitive advantage to their firm by providing excellent services to their customers. Because of this paramount importance of front line employees in service providing organizations, there is need to study the factors that can enhance and drive employees behaviors in the desired direction so that overall productivity of the organization may be improved. Therefore, the purpose of present research is to investigate the relationship between internal marketing and selected employee attitudes (i.e., employee job satisfaction & organizational commitment), and employee behaviors (i.e., employee performance, organizational citizenship behavior, creative performance & counterproductive work behavior). In addition to this, mediating role of employee job attitudes among the relationship between internal marketing and selected employee behaviors and moderating role of big five personality traits among the relationship between internal marketing and employee attitudes were also checked. Two sourced, time lagged primary data was collected from frontline employees and their respective supervisors of five major telecom cellular service providing organizations in Pakistan with the help of structured questionnaires adapted from previous literature. Descriptive analysis, correlation, and simple linear regression analysis were used to analyze data. Mediation analysis was performed with the help of process macros developed by Preacher and Hayes and moderation analysis were performed with the help of step wise regression following the guidelines of Baron and Kenny and were confirmed with the help of interactions test for significant differences between the slopes proposed by Aiken and West. Results indicate that employee job satisfaction and organizational commitment partially mediate the relationship between internal marketing and selected employee behaviors. Among big five personality traits, only trait conscientiousness slightly moderated the relationship between internal marketing with organizational commitment while trait conscientiousness, neuroticism and extroversion slightly moderates the relationship between internal marketing and employee job satisfaction. In sum, internal marketing is found as a tool, if applied properly, can mold employee behaviors in desired directions. Managerial implications, limitations of the research and recommendations for future research are presented the end of the dissertation.

اسی مہینہ میں پاکستان کے ایک خط سے یہ افسوس ناک اطلاع ملی کہ جنوری کے آخری عشرہ میں مولانا حیدر زمان صدیقی نے وفات پائی، مرحوم سے صرف علمی مراسلت رہتی تھی، اس لئے ان کے ذاتی حالات کم معلوم ہیں، ایک زمانہ میں اُن کا قیام پٹھان کوٹ میں تھا، مگر ہندوستان کی تقسیم کے بعد سے ہری پور ضلع ہزارہ میں منتقل ہوگئے تھے، مرحوم بڑی صلاحیتوں کے مالک تھے، اور اپنی علمی وتصنیفی زندگی کے ابتدائی ہی دور میں ایک خاص حلقہ میں اچھی خاصی شہرت حاصل کرلی تھی، اسلامی تعلیمات کی روشنی میں جدید دور کے سیاسی و معاشی مشکلات کا حل اُن کا خاص موضوع تھا، اس موضوع پر وہ معارف اور دوسرے رسالوں میں برابر مضامین لکھتے رہتے تھے، اور اسلامی مسائل کے جدید مفسرین کے برخلاف ان کا قلم بڑی حد تک محتاط واقع ہوا تھا، متفرق مضامین کے علاوہ مستقل تصانیف میں غالباً صرف ایک کتاب اسلام کا نظریہ سیاست اس کی قلمی یادگار ہے، مرحوم کی ذات سے بڑی توقعات وابستہ تھیں، لیکن افسوس موت نے ان کو پوری ہونے کا موقع نہیں دیا، اﷲ تعالیٰ اس خادم دین کو اپنی مغفرت سے نوازے۔

Issuing Fatwa is much important in the field of Islamic Theology. At least one of the contemporary famous three methodologies in the field of Fatwa for the mufti to adopt is necessary; as it leads mufti to extract ruling from the text of Holy Qur᾽ān or Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and from what the Muslim Jurists have agreed upon. A thorough study of the book Fatāwā Ahl Ḥadīth has been conducted in this study in order to highlight the characteristics and main features which distinguish the method of the author, ‘Abdullāh Muḥaddith Rōpaṟi, a prominent scholar of his time in the main stream of Ahl e Ḥadīth, from other scholars of his time in issuing fatwa. The study approves that the author has adopted the depth has and (صلى الله عليه وسلم) Prophet Holy the of companions the of method understanding of the primary sources i. E. Holy Book Qur᾽ān, Sunnah and Ijmā‘, and secondary sources i. E. Qiyās and custom and vice versa and he has given best solutions to the matters posed to him at his time on the basis of textual and rational evidences which ultimately influenced people and made them to accept the author as an authority in his field.. His prominent work also tells us that he has expertise in the fields of Islamic literature, Islamic Jurisprudence, Ḥadīth and Tafsīr. Therefore, his book regarding fatwa has got admired by the scholars of the Subcontinent of all the main streams. Also in the court of Law in the country the book has been considered as a referencing book.

Identification of Temporal Specificity and Focus Time Estimation in News Documents

Time is deemed as paramount aspect in Information Retrieval (IR) and it pro foundly influence the interpretation as well as the users intention and expectation. The temporal patterns in a document or collection of documents plays a central role in the effectiveness of IR systems. The accurate discernment plays an immense role in persuading the time-based intention of a user. There exists a plethora of documents on the web wherein most on them contain the divergent temporal pat terns. Assimilation of these temporal patterns in IR is referred to as Temporal Information Retrieval (TIR). The comprehension of TIR systems is requisite to address the temporal intention of a user in an efficient manner. For time specific queries (i.e. query for an event), the relevant document must relate to the time period of the event. To attenuate the problem, the IR systems must: determine whether the document is temporal specific (i.e. focusing on single time period) and determine the focus time (to which the document content refers) of the documents. This thesis exploits the temporal features of the news documents to improve the retrieval effectiveness of IR systems.As best to our knowledge, this thesis is the pioneer study that focuses on the problem of temporal specificity in news docu ments. This thesis defines and evaluate novel approaches to determine the tem poral specificity in news documents. Thereafter, these approaches are utilized to classify news documents into three novel temporal classes. Furthermore, the study also considers 24 implicit temporal features of news documents to classify in to; a) High Temporal Specificity (HTS), b) Medium Temporal Specificity (MTS), and c) Low Temporal Specificity (LTS) classes. For such classification, Rule-based and Temporal Specificity Score (TSS) based classification approaches are proposed. In the former approach, news documents are classified using a proposed set of rules that are based on temporal features. The later approach classifies news documents based on a TSS score using the temporal features. The results of the proposed approaches are compared with four Machine Learning classification algorithms: Bayes Net, Support Vector Machine (SVM),Random Forest and Decision Tree. x The outcomes of the study indicate that the proposed rule-based classifier outper forms the four algorithms by achieving 82% accuracy, whereas TSS classification achieves 77% accuracy. In addition, to determine the focus time of news documents, the thesis contem plates the temporal nature of news documents. The type and structure of doc uments influence the performance of focus time detection methods. This thesis propose different splitting methods to split the news document into three logical sections by scrutinizing the inverted pyramid news paradigm. These methods in clude: the Paragraph based Method (PBM), the Words Based Method (WBM), the Sentence Based Method (SBM), and the Semantic Based Method (SeBM). Temporal expressions in each section are assigned weights using a linear regres sion model. Finally, a scoring function is used to calculate the temporal score for each time expression appearing in the document. Afterwards, these temporal expressions are ranked on the basis of their temporal score, where the most suit able expression appears on top. Two evaluation measures are used to evaluate the performance of proposed framework, a) precision score (P@1, P@2) and average error years. Precision score at position 1 (P@1) and position 2 (P@2) represent the correct estimation of focus at the top 2 positions in the ranked list of focus time whereas, average error year is the distance between the estimated year and the actual focus year of news document. The effectiveness of proposed method is evaluated on a diverse dataset of news related to popular events; the results re vealed that the proposed splitting methods achieved an average error of less than 5.6 years, whereas the SeBM achieved a high precision score of 0.35 and 0.77 at positions 1 and 2 respectively. The overall findings presented in this thesis demonstrate that the valuable tempo ral insights of documents can be used to enhance the performance of IR systems. The time aware information retrieval systems can adopt these findings to satisfy the user expectation for temporal queries.
