Since global powers shape politics of the world for their self-interests and United States is the most influential power in the world today. Therefore, US foreign policy and its relations with other nations, especially with Pakistan in the South and west Asia is a prominent theme of international politics. So, this study helps us to understand the nature of US relationship with Pakistan i.e a cyclical pattern of cooperation and estrangement. This also enables us to understand the internal and external forces, which determine the cyclical pattern of relationship between the two countries during cold-war, post-cold-war and post 9/11, 2001 relations. It also sharpens insight regarding the transitional change in the relationship between Pakistan and US, i.e. Patron-Client relationship to Estranged-Client Relationship, due to transformation in international system. This dissertation also puts light on how such uneven interactions have affected the politics and security of Pakistan and expected future path of interaction. This also attempts to set forth a theoretical foundation that helps in understanding the identity (security related) construction that accompanies the Pakistan’s foreign policy collaboration with US. Major focus of the research is on the period of eight years i.e. 9/11, 2001 to 2008 that covers president Georg W. Bush junior’s administration in US and Gen. (Rtd) Musharraf’s regime in Pakistan.

الشمامۃ العنبریۃ من مولد خیر البریۃ از نواب صدیق حسن کے خصائص و بدیعیات کا تنقیدی جائزہ

Nawab Siddique Hassan Khan is renowned author of Sub-Continent and placed a well-known award for his writings. This article describes the methodology and characteristics of Al Shmamat ul Anbriyah min maulid e khair ul briyah. This book is basically a seerat study and contains on many new but unfamiliar sources of Seerah. So, he had a great addition on seerat by writing this book. It was in ancient Urdu, hardly to understand its text. The author made this possible in his research work and he also examined its methodology. In this article a managed and detailed description of this book is presented. However, we found some unique errors of references and textual study of seerah. Mostly he used a random method during the writing of this book. Author found many features of this book, whom doesn’t exist in other seerat books like this. Still there are many points, which decrease its importance and creates negative opinion regarding his seerat writing, as some times he included third party research and paid its credit to himself and many places he added irrelevant narrations to his subject.

Morpho-Anatomical and Physiological Adaptations in Leptochloa Fusca from Different Ecological Zones

Salinity is a major problem that affects the plants worldwide. Leptochloa fusca is a halophytic plant species and also called as kalar grass. Morpho-anatomical and physiological adaptations in Lepochloa fusca was studied under salinity with plants being collected from different ecological zones. The plants were collected from Pakka Anna, Sahianwala, Treemu, Kalar Kahar and Rahimyar Khan and grown for 6 months in Faisalabad under normal conditions. The salinity treatment was given in 5 levels that were 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 mM NaCl. Different morphophysiological and anatomical modifications under salt stress were observed during the investigation. Pakka Anna, the highly tolerant population, relied on better water use efficiency, low concentration of Na+ in plant organs, elevated K+ and Ca2+ uptake, and accumulation of osmolytes. Anatomically, it showed increased storage water capacity (root area, parenchyma tissue), efficient water conduction (vascular tissue) and high proportion of mechanical tissue. Decreased stomatal area and density can regulate transpiration rate more easily. The second best from Sahianwala depended on turgor maintenance via accumulation of proline and amino acids. Anatomical modifications involved increased dermal, vascular and parenchymatous tissues, which resulted in increased leaf thickness. Leptochloa fusca can easily tolerate 400 mM NaCl. This level adversely affected growth parameters in less tolerant Treemu and Rahimyar Khan populations. Different populations adopted to different mechanisms for the tolerance. This species can be used for future research endeavours like vegetation of saline wastelands and wetlands. Since it is a salt-accumulant, it will prove to be effective for phytoremediation.
