The Research Project is influenced by scholar’s intellectual interest in the subject of Power and Security as a primary concerns of states. The quest for knowledge motivated to visit different institutes at Qatar, Bahrain, China, Russia and Japan where interaction was arranged with a number of scholars and think tanks and gathered their valuable input on the research project. Additionally, the opportunity of faculty member at National Defense University Islamabad was availed in interacting with senior military officers from UK, USA, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and Palestine. Their input was very valuable and succinct towards the conduct of research. The location of Gulf Region is in Asian Continent and it characterizes one of the ocean arms that extended in the Strait of Hormuz, the gate of Gulf. However the Strait of Hormuz has base in Iran, Kuwait and Iraq also share its coasts. West coast of the Gulf covers the eastern bounds of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries which include Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Oman. Strait of Hormuz in the south of Gulf is considered to be controlling strategic position. The contemporary phase of international politics and its economic reflections have been crafted by international events such as 9/11 that had particularly changed the dynamics of Iraq, Kuwait and Bahrain from religious orientation to the democratic side. The importance of the region can be understood by its long lasting international headlines that had made its place for many decades. Despite its traditional security environment, the region has developed a fresh impetus immediately after the 9/11 incident along with Iraqi invasion by the US forces. The post 9/11 international order is affecting the gulf in many ways. The mechanism of Collective Security by GCC countries, the presence of Extra Regional Forces (ERF) in the Gulf, the interests of great and regional powers, mature political institutions of gulf countries is providing stability to the region. However, same stability is paradoxical as it contains potential instability as the often conflicting interests of great powers like USA, Russia and China and regional powers like Iran and Saudi Arabia, vulnerable political institutions in the backdrop of vi evolving Arab Spring with simmering effects in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the public discontentment with presence of foreign forces in the region and looming crisis over Iran’s nuclear programme are potential destablising factors. The research project has been viewed from the lens of Power. The concept of Power Beyond State (IR-Realism) and the concept of Power Within State (Political Science-Three Dimensions of Power). No one theory deals with both dimensions of power concurrently, therefore, the scholar has proposed a new theory by joining both the aspects of Power. The proposed theory is “Stability-Instability Regime Theory”.

موقف الاصولیین من افعال النبیینﷺ

The Prophet (s. a. w.) was after all a human being with perfect human nature; whatever he did in his daily life represented human nature. All of his unanimously authentic doings have been classified by legal theorists into two major categories, the doings allowed to the Prophet (s. a. w.) alone with the exclusion of his followers and the doings that were meant to explain particular apparently ambiguous sayings. The latter category is further divided into two other categories: ( I) those acts of the Holy Prophet which explicitly refer to its explanatory nature, and (r) those acts whose explanatory nature is confirmed by other source. Islamic legal theorists have unanimity over the legal status of all categories of the Prophet’s (s. a. w.) acts. Certain acts of the Prophet (s. a. w.) are mandatoryfor him but non-mandatory for his followers; certain other acts are lawful for the Prophet (s. a. w.) but unlawful for believers; some acts are obligatory for the believers; and some acts of the Prophet (s. a. w.) are mere supererogatory. There are some acts of the Prophet (s. a. w.) on which legal theorists have not said anything concerning their legal status. The present paper represents an analysis of the views of legal theorists about the acts ofthe Prophet (s. a. w.) .

Identification of Risk Factors in Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis Patients and Clinical Trial With Linezolid

INTRODUCTION Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Multi drug resistant tuberculosis is a form of tuberculosis caused by a strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex which are resistant to at least Isoniazid and Rifampicin with or without resistance to any other first line antituberculosis treatment (ATT). Multiple factors have been identified those lead to multi drug resistance response to tuberculosis. Treatment of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis requires treatment with second line drugs, usually four or more TB drugs for a minimum period of 6 months and probably extending for 18-24 months if rifampicin resistance has been identified. Linezolid is an antibiotic used for the treatment of serious infections caused by gram positive bacteria and in highly resistant tuberculosis strain and cases that are otherwise complicated to treat. OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study were to determine the demographic features of participants in this study, to determine risk factors in multi-drug resistant tuberculosis and to conduct a clinical trial for the determination of efficacy of linezolid in patients with multi drug resistant tuberculosis. Study design; To determine the demographic features of Tuberculosis, cross sectional study, to determine the risk factors in patients with Tuberculosis and multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis, analytical cross sectional study and to conduct the clinical trial for examining the efficacy of Linezolid for treatment of multi drug resistant tuberculosis, clinical trial was conducted by using the study design of experimental epidemiology (Single blind randomized control trial phase-4) Study Universe: Public sector Hospital, Lahore Pakistan. Study population: Tuberculosis and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis patients registered or followed by Outpatient Department of public sector Hospital Lahore Sampling Technique;: Convenient sampling for project-1 & 2 and Simple Random Sampling for project-3 Study Duration: One year (1st Dec 2016 to 30th Nov2017) DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE; using convenient sampling/simple random sampling technique, data collected through a questionnaire. Subjects from public sector hospital were enrolled in the study according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. They were investigated, examined, monitored and data recorded in a questionnaire. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS version RESULTS; During demographic analysis of patients with tuberculosis, it was observed that female cases were higher than male cases. Age group 18-34 years was maximally affected by tuberculosis. The disease had a decreasing trend with aging. In both genders number of cases was decreasing with increase of age. There were only a few cases above 60 years of age. Majority of cases belonged to Lahore or its suburbs. . Majority of the cases belonged to urban area, had lower class and low socioeconomic status. Males were more educated as compared to females. Majority of the cases were relapsed. Two third cases had extra pulmonary Tuberculosis. In extra pulmonary tuberculosis, majority of cases involved lymph nodes. The risk factors for tuberculosis and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis were not common. In randomized control trial with Linezolid, 90% cases of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis were pulmonary tuberculosis. Treatment with Linezolid proved to be effective in 60% cases. CONCLUSION; In this study analysis of demographic profile showed that the number of female patients was increasing. The age group 18-44 years was maximally affected. In randomized control trial with Linezolid, 90% cases of multidrug resistant tuberculosis were pulmonary. Treatment with Linezolid proved to be effective in 60% cases with multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
