This study examines the dominant elements of Transitivity (Ideational meaning), and the lexical features of Samuel Beckett’s dramatic texts with special reference to Waiting for Godot, Endgame, Happy Days, All That Fall, and Krapp’s Last Tape. The significance of the linguistic features of these texts has also been explored. The study also attempts to investigate the conformity of linguistic interpretation with the Existential interpretations of Waiting for Godot. The analysis of data was conducted by using computational tools like UAMCT, MAT, SUAS and AntConc. However, UAMCT was used as the main tool and the rest of the tools were just used to ensure validity of results and to supplement some areas of analysis which were deficient in UAMCT. The study has found that Beckett’s dramatic texts have a considerable amount of Material processes going on in the world of the plays but these processes are less directed to a Goal and are even agentless too. The processes are also not spatially and temporally situated. The linguistic analysis reveals that his dramatic texts are a linguistic paradox; lexically simple but structurally complex. The linguistic features of Waiting for Godot establish certain themes like, ‘Alienation’, Directionlessnes’, ‘Ambivalence’, ‘Nothingness’, ‘Existence’, ‘Skepticism’, ‘Boredom’, and ‘Pessimism’. These themes conform to the Existential interpretations of Waiting for Godot. We find a linguistic spontaneity of Existential themes in the play. In a nutshell, Beckett has not narrated the predicament of Existence but made it happen linguistically in Waiting for Godot. The study finds that Endgame, Happy Days, All That Fall, and Krapp’s Last Tape also exhibit similar syntactic and lexical features as that of Waiting for Godot. It has also been found out, as a result of this study, that Waiting for Godotand the other four plays of Beckett (Endgame, Happy Days, All That Fall, and Krapp’s Last Tape) have communicative qualities of an extempore interactive oral text. Beckett’s plays also have some qualities of a narrative text. It is due to these qualities that the plays are able to make a mark on the minds of their readers. The present report consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 describes the scope and nature of the study by providing introduction to Beckett, Waiting for Godot and Existential context of Beckett. This chapter gives a detailed background of the problem, states the problem, aims of the study, research questions, significance, methodology and limitations of the study. Chapter 2 presents the survey of the related literature in the areas of SFL, application of linguistic theory to the study of literary text, application of computational tools to the study of literary and nonliterary texts. Chapter 3 encompasses the procedures and methods of data collection and analysis. Chapter 4 presents a detailed analysis and interpretation of the texts of Waiting for Godot, Endgame, Happy Days, All That Fall, and Krapp’s Last Tape. Finally, Chapter 5 summarizes the results produced through data analysis and interpretation in Chapter 4. Discussion, implications and conclusion of the results of the present study are also given in the same chapter.

Educator Readiness Evaluation in the Implementation of Curriculum 2013 in Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost Areas

This study aims to describe the readiness of educators in implementing the 2013 curriculum in the 3T area in North Gorontalo District. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The subjects in this study were school principals and educators in the 3T area school. The research result shows four things; first; Academic qualifications of educators in schools in the 3Tl area have not been fully fulfilled according to Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System Article 42 paragraph (1). Second; The Academic Competence of Educators in the 3T area is not yet fully educated with S1 academic qualifications in accordance with Article 8 of Law Number 14 of 2005. The three certificates of educators have not been fully fulfilled in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Educators and Lecturers. The fourth role of educators in realizing the goals of national education principals continues to encourage educators to continue to carry out learning innovations, especially in the implementation of the 2013 curriculum as an effort to improve professionalism as a form of role in realizing the goals of national education.

Phylogenetic Study for the Investigation and Analysis of Uncultured Soil Microbial Diversity of Pakistani Hospital?S Dumping Sites Using Sequence-Based Metagenomic Approach

Hospitals play a vital role in health and well being of humans. However the biomedical waste generated by hospitals pose a serious threat to public health and environment due to their high potential of disease transmission through spread of pathogenic bacterial strains from hospitals dumpsites by any mode of contact. Therefore methods for the analysis of microbial diversity in the environmental samples surrounding the hospitals? dumpsites are required for better understanding of Hospitals Acquired Infections (HAI) transmission. Metagenomics provides solution to this problem through availability of methods that allows the isolation of those microbial DNA from environment that cannot be cultured and hence their role has never been studied in transmission of HAIs. This research study is objected to the investigation of microbial diversity present in the soil surrounding the dumpsites of hospitals in order to construct a profile of bacterial communities present in natural environment of hospitals that may potentially be involved in transmission of HAIs. In this research study the microbial diversity of soil samples taken from 10 different hospital?s waste dumpsites was examined. Direct DNA extraction is performed by using Metagenomic approach with the objective of isolation of not only cultured but un-cultured bacterial communities as well. PCR was carried out for all samples for detection of 16S rRNA gene. Amplified DNA is directed to 16S rRNA gene sequencing. After sequencing the Phylogenetic analysis is performed through Phylogenetic tree rendering for the analysis of evolutionary relatedness of extracted bacterial sequences among themselves and with their possible closest species. The results of this research study have provided with the profile of bacterial species present in the soils surrounding the hospitals? dumping sites and also their evolutionary relatedness with other bacterial species. The results provided by this study have promising contribution in investigation of microbial communities present in hospitals environments and their potential involvement in transmission of HAIs suggests the need of strategies and protocols for proper disposal of biomedical wastes generated by hospitals.
