The study was conducted on investigating the impacts of corporal punishment with major emphasis on its nature, kinds and effects on students, including social, academic, educational, psychological, legal and medical aspects. To ascertain the effects of corporal punishment, the participants of the study comprising students, teachers and parents were interviewed through questionnaire and interview schedule. Major objectives of the study were to investigate into the nature, kinds and motives of physical punishment against students in sampled district; to identify multidimensional effects of corporal punishment on the students from educational and academic perspectives to social, academic, educational, psychological, legal and medical aspects.; to investigate the teachers and parents'' viewpoint on corporal punishment of students at schools and to seek the opinion of the victimized students on use of corporal punishment. The total sample size from students, teachers and parents was 607. The data was analyzed at both uni-variate and bi-variate level while calculating frequency, percentage and Chi - square test respectively. It was found that corporal punishment remained a hurdle in developing good teacher - student relationship; it led to destroying students’ character building; increased dropout rate; discouraged the learning environment; created hatred for teachers; impaired interest in study; and compelled students to leave school before the day ended. Moreover, it was observed that corporal punishment became the major cause for creating aggressive attitudes and quarrelsome behaviors among the students; it badly affected children’ morality; it led children to use alcohol and other drugs; made them vulnerable to sexual abuse. Academic achievements got lowered in their respective examinations in the view of constant absenteeism from school. Furthermore, corporal punishment depressed students’ feeling of sympathy. Students started backbiting of their teachers and even used filthy language. Some of the students got nervous and they developed feeling of suicide. Corporal punishment promoted psychological trauma due to which students lost their confidence. The study recommends the abolition of corporal punishment which will ensure decrease in the dropout rate, create better learning environment, and consequently develop good relation between teachers and students. The study further suggests the implementation of relevant law regarding banishment on corporal punishment in letter and spirit. Teachers should be made aware about the negative results of corporal punishment through diverse nature of training programs as well as contents of the bill regarding ban on corporal punishment.

Arbitrariness, unpredictability and instability of the present society are the consequences of alleging and accusing each other, absurdly and misleadingly. It is crucial to stop such felony to rescue standards of living in the society and, to prevent the society from the destroyer blazing of this evil deed. Islam is a perfect religion and helps circumventing all the problems of the society. Therefore Islam is the only religion which punishes with eighty stripes for false accusation. The chastisement is ruled to prevent people from such delinquencies and to keep morality in the society. This article articulates such theme.

Owl2 Benchmarking for the Evaluation of the Knowledge Based Systems Platforms

Data modelling using OWL semantics for the development of a knowledge based system (KBS) has recently attracted the attention of many applications in various domains like Business, Biosciences, Health, and Digital Libraries etc. Well-known knowledge base systems platforms (KBSPs) are used for storing and querying the ontology-based applications using di erent storage formats (memory, graph,le, and database). Choosing an appropriate KBSP is considered as an important task to help domain experts to select suitable KBSP. In this research, a problem with the current state of the art evaluation benchmarks has been identi ed; the existing state of the art evaluation benchmarks are not designed to support complete OWL semantics (OWL1.1 and OWL2). The objectives of the research include; inspection of the existing evaluation benchmarks for the missing OWL semantics, construction of benchmark with complete OWL covergae, analysis of the proposed benchmark and evaluation of the KBSPs using proposed benchmark. In this research, the proposed OWL2 benchmark (OEB2) for the evaluation of the KBSPs is constructed using the foundational building blocks of the evaluation benchmark: data schema, dataset, and queryset with performance evaluation matric. The proposed work uses university ontology as case study in the construction of OEB2. The complete OWL semantics are added in the data schema of the proposed benchmark through survey of relevant ontologies, usage of WordNet senses, and addition of property characteristics through patterned queries. The dataset of the proposed benchmark is enriched with all the assertion level OWL semantics and coverage of all the property characterisitics. The coverage of OWL semantics in the queries set are covered by classifying the queries and also making them more generic. Finally, the proposed benchmark has been tested on the memory based,le based, graph based, and relational database KBSPs for the performance and scalability measures. The results show that OEB2 is able to evaluate the behaviour of di erent KBSPs with complete OWL semantics (OWL1.1 and OWL2). The reported results provides an evidence that di erent knowledge base system are suitable for di erent domains. The present work assist domain experts to choose a relevant knowledge base system based on the nature of their domain. This research also concludes with multiple directions for future research in this domain.
