Politicians, policy makers and economic managers want to spur economic growth, bring economic stability and to create jobs. Economic growth is not only affected by macroeconomic policies but it is also prone to various types of shocks. Appropriate and timely policy response can at least minimize, if not completely escaped, the distortions and loses associated with shocks. Optimization of economic growth and its sustainability demands the execution of good macroeconomic policies in general and fiscal and monetary policy in particular. Some time fiscal policy seems to be more effective while the environment is more favorable for monetary policy in other times. We also know that both fiscal and monetary policy have different objective with different policy instruments. The macroeconomic situation of Pakistan’s is very depressing and the situation demands stark assessment of its macroeconomic policies particularly fiscal and monetary policy. The objective of this thesis is to investigate the interaction between fiscal and monetary policy using small scale open economy dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model. This thesis explores the responsiveness of monetary policy to fiscal policy vis-à-vis explore the fiscal implications of monetary policy. As we assume a small scale open economy, we also explore the responses of fiscal and monetary policy interaction to technology and foreign output shocks. We also countercheck few results using the techniques of autoregressive distributive lag model. Our findings reveal the existence of interaction between fiscal and monetary policy in Pakistan. The response of interest rate to fiscal policy, particularly to tax shock is positive. Fiscal and monetary policy behaves as a strategic complements. This is not a good sign for a crippling economy like Pakistan’s as two important macroeconomic policies are contractionary simultaneously. Similarly when it comes to spending component, interest rate negatively responds when government increases spending. Both fiscal and monetary authority adopts expansionary policies simultaneously. We also find that higher interest rate discourage government borrowing. Inflation responds negatively to interest rate in DSGE set up while the phenomenon of price puzzle exists in ARDL schemes of things. The response of inflation is positive to both higher taxes and government spending. Government spending reduces in response to a monetary policy shock. Tax revenue also reduces when interest rate shock occurs in the economy. Inflation also raises the revenue from taxes but is very short lived.

The Relationship Between Competence and Job Satisfaction on the Performance of Private Madrasah Tsanawiyah Teachers in the City of Surabaya

This study aims to discuss the relationship between competence and job satisfaction on the performance of private Madrasah Tsanawiyah teachers in the city of Surabaya. The research method used is the type of research used that is explanatory with a quantitative approach with a sample size of 244 of 628 teachers from 44 private Madrasah Tsanawiyah in the city of Surabaya). The results showed that teachers’ competence had an effect on teachers’ job satisfaction with a value of 0.184. Teachers’ competence affected teachers’performance with a value of 0.118. Teachers’ job satisfaction affected teachers’ performance with a value of 0.222. Teachers’ job satisfaction on teachers’  performance showed a high influence with a CR value of 2.772 (greater than 2.00) and a significance level (p-value) of 0.006 (less than 5%). It can be concluded that teachers’ competence affected teachers’ job satisfaction and teachers’ competence affected teachers’  performance. Teachers’ job satisfaction had a strong effect on teachers’ performance.

Search for the Associated Production of a Z Boson With a Single Top Quark Using Cms Data at 18 Tev and 13 Tev and Performance Studies of Cms Silicon Tracker

The cross section measurements of a single top quark in association with a Z boson using proton-proton collision data collected by CMS experiment are reported in this thesis. The measurements are performed by analyzing integrated luminosities of 19.7 fb1 and 35.9 fb1 which were collected at 8 TeV and 13 TeV. The measurement are performed within the standard model framework where top quark is produced via the t-channel process. The measurements in three lepton final state, where the W boson from the top quark and the Z boson decay into either electrons or muons, resulting in four possible lepton combinations namely eee, eeµ, µµe, µµµ, are discussed. The final state electrons or muons can also come from from leptonic ⌧ decays, as they are not specifically excluded. The main sources of background to the tZq process are t¯ t production, diboson production (WZ, ZZ), ttV (V = W or Z) and Drell-Yan (DY) production. A simple cut and count technique is used for the cross section measurement. For theps = 8 TeV measurement, a one bin likelihood fit is performed to event yields in each four lepton channels and to the combined channel. The cross section for the combined channel is measured to be (t`+`q) = 18+11 9 (stat)+4 4(syst) fb, where ` stands for electrons, muons and ⌧ leptons, with an observed (expected) significance of 1.81 (0.81) standard deviations. The measured value is compatible with the NLO standard model prediction of 8.2 fb with a theoretical uncertainty of less than 10%. For the second cross section measurement at 13TeV, the signal is extracted by performing a simultaneous binned likelihood fit to yields in the signal and the background enriched control regions. The cross section for the combined channel is measured to be (t`+`q) = 156+47 42(stat)+40 34(syst) fb, which is compatible with the NLO standard model prediction of 94.2 ± 3.1 fb. The measurement is found to be in agreement with the standard model with an observed (expected) significance of 2.81(1.95) standard deviations.
