ڈاکٹر ذاکر حسین صاحب کی ناگہانی وفات ہندوستان کا بہت بڑا قومی حادثہ ہے، وہ اسکا گوہر بے بہا تھے، ان کی موت سے وہ ایسی دولت سے محروم ہوگیا جس کی تلافی نہیں ہوسکتی، کم سے کم مسلمانوں میں ان کا بدل پیدا ہونا بہت دشوار ہے اور اب وہ اس نقصان کو محسوس کریں گے، وہ اپنے علمی کمالات ، فہم و فراست، قومی و تعلیمی خدمات، ایثار و قربانی اور اخلاق و سیرت کے لحاظ سے بہت بڑے انسان تھے، انھوں نے سیاست کے میدان میں کبھی قدم نہیں رکھا، لیکن اپنی بصیرت سے بڑی بڑی سیاسی گتھیوں کو آسانی سے سلجھا دیتے تھے، پنڈت جواہرلال نہرو کے بعد بین الاقوامی دنیا میں ہندستان کا وقار اُن ہی نے قائم رکھا۔
ان میں ابتدا سے غیر معمولی صلاحیتیں تھیں، ان کا آغاز ہی ان کے روشن مستقبل کا پتہ دیتا تھا طالب علمی ہی کے زمانہ سے ان کا قومی خدمت کا ولولہ اور ایثار و قربانی کا جذبہ تعلیم یافتہ نوجوانوں اور قومی کارکنوں کے لیے نمونہ تھا، اس زمانہ اور اس عمر میں جب ہونہار نوجوانوں کا منتہائے نظر اور ترقی کی سب سے بڑی معراج سرکاری عہدے اور تعیش کی زندگی تھی، انھوں نے ان کی طرف آنکھ اٹھا کر بھی نہ دیکھا، اور ان کے مقابلہ میں قومی خدمت اور غربت کی زندگی کو ترجیح دی اور اس راہ میں عمر کا بہترین حصہ صرف کردیا، ان کا زندہ کارنامہ ہندوستان کی پہلی آزاد قومی درسگاہ جامعہ ملیہ ہے، گو اس کے بانی حضرت شیخ الہند حکیم اجمل خاں اور مولانا محمد علی وغیرہ تھے۔ لیکن اس کے اصلی معمار وہی تھے، اور ان ہی نے جامعہ کو جامعہ بنایا اور اپنی زندگی میں اپنے لگائے ہوئے پودے کو ایک تناور درخت بنا گئے، اور آج...

Fun and humour are part of human nature and character while people have a strong desire for relaxation that they want to have the means to express joy. Even bitter ideas can be easily conveyed to others through humor and good nature. Islam did not only allow laughter and entertainment but also prescribed such rules and regulations that people can fulfill their natural needs while living within the limitations. The Holy Prophet ﷺ made the best arrangements for Islamic state of Madina, the tastes and interests of the people, and their entertainment, and set an example for the rulers that like other countries. Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ did not only allow laughter and humor, but he himself was cheerful and happy towards his companions. Humour is an essential element of human life, and it has significant importance in Islam as well as in other religions. In this regard, we also get a lot of guidance from Sirat-e-Tayyaba, and it is justified with certain conditions. In this article, the authors have discussed the introduction of humor, its status in Shariah and its limitations from the perspective of Islamic Shari'ah. Pedagogical Strategies Used by El Teachers in Developing Reading Skills: A Comparative Study of Private and Public Middle School Systems in Skardu City

No one can deny the importance of reading skills especially for the students. There is a strong link between students’ performance and the pedagogical strategies of EL Teachers. Research claims that different pedagogical strategies used by teachers help students in developing their reading skills. This study aimed to identify and compare the pedagogical strategies used by ELTs of both public and private schools at Middle level (VI- VIII) for developing students’ ‘reading skills’ in Skardu City. For this purpose, a cross-sectional survey design (descriptive) was employed to collect data from all middle level schools (n=69 out of 72) of Skardu City. The sample of 100 teachers from both public (n=50) and private schools (n=50) teachers were observed through Observation Scale for Reading Lesson (OSRL) where a maximum of three teachers from each school participated. The results show that more than 50% of the ELTs use some pedagogical strategies for developing reading skills. Specifically, three strategies were used by more than 80% of the teachers. The results illustrate that most of the teachers mainly focus on oral fluency, explanation of the text, model and feedback during classroom tasks besides few comprehension and assessment strategies for developing reading skills. While majority of the teachers do not use some important strategies of comprehension, prediction, inferring the vocabulary from the text, silent reading and connection of reading with written strategies. This study further reveals that participant teachers of both public and private schools use more or less similar pedagogical strategies with some variation for developing the reading skills. However, private school teachers have shown better performance as compared to their public counterparts particularly in using six strategies where significant differences were also found. To sum up this study highlighted that there is a dearth of using relevant pedagogical strategies to achieve the standards, benchmarks and SLOs of NCEL (2006). It is strongly recommended that purposeful training programmes with proper follow up should be organized for altering the beliefs and polishing teachers’ professional competency for developing reading skills of the students.
