The hybrid perovskite solar cells have become a key player in third generation photovoltaics since the first solid state perovskite photovoltaic cell was reported in 2012. Over the course of this work, a wide array of subjects has been treated: starting with the synthesis and deposition of different charge transport layers, synt hesis of hybrid perovskite materials, optimization of annealing temperature, stability of the material with the addition of inorganic metal ions, and photovoltaic device fabrications. The key advantages of methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3=MAPbI3; CH3NH3=MA) perovskite is the efficient absorption of light, optimum band gap and long carrier life time. The organic components, i.e. CH3NH3, in MAPbI3 perovskites bring instabilities even at ambient conditions. To address such instabilities, an attempt has been made to replace the organic constituent with inorganic monovalent cations; K+1, Rb+1, and Cs+1 in MAPbI3; (MA)1-xBxPbI3 (B= K, Rb, Cs; x=0-1). The optical, morphological, structural, chemical, optoelectronic and electrical properties of the materials have been explored by employing different characterization techniques. Initially methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) compound grows in a tetragonal crystal structure, which remains intact with lower doping concentrations. However, the crystal structure of the material is found to be transformed from tetragonal at lower doping to double phase i.e., simultaneous existence of tetragonal MAPbI3 and orthorhombic BPbI3 (B=K, Rb, Cs) structure at higher doping concentrations. These structural phase transformations are also visible in electron micrographs of the doped samples. The resistances of the samples were seen to be suppressed in lower doping range, which can be attributed to the more electropositive character of inorganic alkali cations. A prominent blue shift has seen in the steady state photoluminescence and optical absorption spectra with higher alkali cation doping, which corresponds to increase in the energy bandgap and this effect is very small in light doped samples. The x-ray photoemission spectroscopy studies of all the investigated perovskite samples have shown the presence of Pb+2 and I-1 oxidation states. The intercalation of inadvertent carbon and oxygen in perovskite films was also investigated by x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. It is observed that the respective peaks intensities of carbon and oxygen, responsible for methylammonium lead iodide decomposition has decreased with partial doping, which can be attributed to the doping of oxidation stable alkali metal cations (K+1, Rb+1, Cs+1). Following this work, some of the properties of the phase pure organicinorganic MAPbI3 have been studied. The selected devices with pristine as well as doped perovskite i.e., (MA)1-xBxPbI3 (B= K, Rb, Cs) based inverted perovskite photovoltaic cells were fabricated and tested their power conversion efficiencies. Later, the power conversion characteristics of the devices were investigated by developing an electronic circuit allowing versatile power point tracking of solar devices. The device with the best efficiency of 15.37% was attained with 30% Cs doping, having device parameters as; open circuit voltage value of 1.08V, photocurrent density (Jsc) of 19.70mA/cm2, and fill factor of 0.72. In case of potassium (K+) based mixed cation perovskite based devices, efficiency of about 13.32% is obtained with 10% doping. Using this approach, the stability of the materials and performances of perovskite based solar devices have been increased. These studies showed that the organic (MA) and inorganic cations (K, Rb and Cs) can be used in specific ratios by wet chemical synthesis procedure for better stability and efficiency of solar cells. We showed that mixed cations lead to a stable perovskite tetragonal phase in low atomic concentrations with no appreciable variation in energy bandgap of the photo-absorber, allowing the material to intact with the properties of un-doped perovskite with enhanced efficiency and stability.

Concept of Peace and Harmony in the Buddhism amd Islam: A Comparative Study

The research paper aims at to analyze and determine the role and scope of religion for maintaining peace and harmony all across the world. We can state without exaggeration that Religion is positive factor for it goes a long way to maintain peace and invoke harmony and integration for humanity. A brief glance at the religions of the world reveals that all religions of the world have their own rights and stand for the peace in the world. Buddhist moral and spiritual teachings to great extent stand for brotherhood and harmony throughout the world. Similarly, Islam recognizes the fact that each religious teacher has faith in his own mission and wants to establish peace for mankind. Both religions are a living organization of peace and harmony for humanity. Hence in the light of religions and their teachings, both are aim at for betterment of humanity as well as propagate the message of love, equality, brotherhood, justice and equity.

Experiences of Hiv Positive Patients and Determinants of Their General Health

The current research project aimed at exploring the experiences of HIV positive patients in Pakistan and finding the determinants of their general health. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the research was carried out in two parts: Part I comprised qualitative study. Sample of the study was purposive, homogenous and consisted of eight HIV positive patients. Men and women were given equal representation in the sample. The age range of the participants was between 25 to 35 years. A semi-structured interview guide was prepared to explore the psychosocial, diagnostic, illness and treatment experiences of HIV positive patients. The interviews were audio recorded and later on transcribed verbatim for a detailed in depth analysis. Seven superordinate themes emerged during the rigorous analytic process of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) proposed by (Smith, Flowers, & Larkins, 2009).Part II was quantitative in nature and comprised two studies. Study II was a preliminary study that comprised two phases: Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen, Kamarck, & Mermelstein, 1983) was translated into Urdu language and validated in Phase I, as it was intended to assess the perceived stress of the HIV positive patients in study III. Rest of the study scales were available in Urdu, so factor structures of all scales were tested via confirmatory factor analyses (n=300) in Phase II by using AMOS 20.0 and all the measures revealed good fit to the data. Study III was the main study. The aim of the study was to investigate the determinants (viz., perceived stress, emotional intelligence and perceived social support) of general health of HIV Positive patients. Urdu translated versions of Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen, Kamarck, & Mermelstein, 1983), Berlin Social Support Scale (Nawaz & Batool, 2013), Emotional Intelligence Scale (Batool & Khalid, 2011), General Health Questionnare (GHQ 28; Goldberg & Williams, 1988), and demographic datasheet were used to collect the data.Data were collected from 361 HIV positive patients, recruited from the cities of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore (Punjab, Pakistan). Men (n = 291) and women (n = 70), were given representation in the sample. The Age range of the participants was 18 to 67 (M = 36.4, SD = 10.3). Pearson’s product correlation analysis was carried out to assess the magnitude and direction of relationships among all the study variables. Linear regression analyses revealed that emotional intelligence and social support were significant negative predictors and perceived stress was a positive predictor and explained 49 % variance in general health. Moderation analysis was carried out through SPSS 16.0 and results supported gender as a moderator in relationship between social support and general health but gender did not moderate the relationship between perceived stress and general health and between emotional intelligence and general health. Results of mediational analysis via structural equation modelling using AMOS 20.0 showed that perceived stress partially mediated the relationship between perceived social support and general health. The MANOVA was carried out on five independent groups (viz., gender, age, family system, education, and monthly income) and four outcome variables (general health, perceived stress, perceived social support and emotional intelligence). The results of MANOVA were not significant. Results of both the studies (i.e. quantitative and qualitative parts) revealed that emotional intelligence and perceived social support were two important protective factors / predictors that determine the general health and also the individual components of general health of HIV positive patients. Both the studies also highlighted the role of emotional intelligence and perceived social support in reducing the perceived stress level of HIV positive patients. Quantitative study validated the results of qualitative study. Conclusions were drawn and the clinical implications were discussed at the end.
