In this thesis, we use the standard optimal homotopy asymptotic method for the analytical solution of higher order ordinary differential equations with two or multi- point boundary conditions, a nonlinear family of partial differential equations with an initial condition and Integro-differential equations. The results obtained are compared with the results obtained by the application of Adomain decomposition method, homotopy perturbation method, variational iteration method, differential transform method and homotopy analysis method etc. The optimal homotopy asymptotic method uses a flexible auxiliary function, which controls the convergence of the solution and allows adjustment in the convergence region where it is needed. Moreover, the procedure of this method is simple, clearly well-defined and the built- in recursive relations are explicitly worked out for easy use. Numerical results obtained by the optimal homotopy asymptotic method reveal high accuracy and excellent agreement with the exact solutions. Apart from the application of optimal homotopy asymtotic method, we develop a new scheme by using Daftardar-Jafari polynomials in the homotopy of optimal homotopy asymptotic method to solve nonlinear problems more effectively. This scheme is almost as simple as the optimal homotopy asymtotic method but its results are more accurate than the usual optimal homotopy asymptotic method. To show the effectiveness of this scheme, we solve different bench mark problems from literature and compare the results with those obtained by the standard optimal homotopy asymptotic method. To determine the convergence control parameters of the auxiliary function, two well known methods are followed: The Least squares and the Galerkin methods. We also explore and use a variety of the forms of auxiliary functions that results more accuracy and shows flexibility and reliability of the methods. For symbolic computation, we use Mathematica 7. The work presented in chapters 2, 3 and 4 of this thesis has been published in different reputed international journals and the work presented in chapters 3, 5, 6 and 7 is submitted for possible publication. Penyandang disabilitas, mempunyai hak yang setara dengan orang normal lain. Meski begitu, diskriminasi masih kerap dirasakan dikarenakan mereka dianggap tidak mandiri. Demi mencapai kemandirian dan pemenuhan Kebutuhan hidup, penyandang disabilitas dituntut melakukan pekerjaan agar dapat memenuhi kebutuhan hidup dan meningkatkan keterampilan sosial. Namun, Kurang ketersedian lapangan pekerjaan bagi penyandang disabilitas membuat penyandang disabilitas lebih memilih untuk bekerja pada sektor usaha sesuai kemampuan mereka. Tulisan ini mencoba membahas tentang Penguatan SDM disabilitas Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) melalui Peningkatan Kompetensi dan Knowledge Management. Pembahasan dimulai dengan melihat Perkembangan UMKM, semakin disadari bahwa saat ini dunia bisnis akan menjadi industry yang digerakkan oleh perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan tekhnologi. Kemudian pembahasan tentang Pengembangan kompetensi yang merupakan salah satu unsur penentu upaya peningkatan kinerja SDM industri kreatif yang memberikan perspektif yang lebih tajam dan spesifik terhadap pekerja dan pekerjaannya.
The new trends in learning/teaching English, as a foreign/second language, highlight teachers' professional development (TPD) as essential in bringing about educational reforms through enhancing teachers' subject-content and pedagogical content knowledge, and changing their attitudes and beliefs about their roles and teaching. Therefore, this study focused on exploring English language teachers' (ELTs') professional development (PD) in developing countries; namely Syria and Pakistan. For approaching this phenomenon, the study used qualitative research with a case-study design. Moreover, it applied the auto/biographical approach to get more insights into ELTs' learning experiences by analyzing the stories of two ELTs. Furthermore, it employed cross-case analysis to identify the emerging issues in both contexts (Syria and Pakistan), and to find out some similarities/differences of ELTs' learning experiences between these contexts. The study was conducted in a private secondary English-medium school in Karachi with a Pakistani ELT and me, as a research participant from Syria. Reflective journals, semi-structured interviews, ELTs' auto/biography, documents analysis, informal talks and classroom, observations were used for generating the data for this study. Analyzing the data, some key themes emerged in relation to the process of achieving PD of ELTs. Out of these themes, stories were generated about ELTs' learning journey. Moreover, data resulted out of the two ELTs' cases drew attention to ELTs' unique ways of learning during the journey of PD such as learning in the workplace (informally: by doing, and by reflecting on past experiences and on action/practices), and learning off-site (formally: by attending professional training). Applying the cross-case analysis revealed the commonalities and differences between the two ELTs' professional development. As for the key findings emerged out of the analysis and discussions, they were: a) Significance of ELTs' self-motivation, b) Learning in-service through formal/informal opportunities, c) Impact of schools learning environment (with reference to school cultures and a principal's leadership), and d) Role of family in supporting ELTs' professional development.
