This study examines the major determinants of the capital acquisition decision by the MSEs in Pakistan. The study sample consisted of MSEs in the administrative division of Multan in the southern region of province of Punjab. Adopting a postpositivist paradigm, mixed methods research design was employed to mitigate the constraints of data collection and access to the financials of MSEs in Pakistan. The researcher conducted a preliminary study comprising of the 30 in-depth interviews taken from the MSE owners/managers and bankers to develop and finalize the theoretical framework. In the main study, questionnaire survey was conducted by the researcher himself and the panel of facilitators who were graduates in the field of commerce and finance. Nine hundred usable questionnaires, out of 1350 administered, were included in the analysis based on the different regression models. Factors related to the owners/managers, their financing practices and allied strategies are identified as significant determinants of dependent variables of capitalization decisions, choice of debt, equity financing and financing preferences examined in respective models. Owners’ internal financing strategy and growth preferences were identified as important mediators of the hypothesized relationships between the dependent variables and their predictors. Both the qualitative and quantitative analysis evidenced the application of pecking order theory of financing. The moderating effects of economic and environmental factors are also examined. This study provides important insights about MSEs’ capitalization according to the traditional financial paradigm, as well as, from the modern strategic management perspective. The study concludes with vital implications for the academicians, researchers, businessmen, financiers and the policy makers. The study also suggests viable measures to create an enabling financing environment for increasing the rates of the formation as well as growth in the MSE sector.

Profil Kitab Tafsir, Model Pemahamannya Pengaruhnya Terhadap Fiqih Ibadah Pada Pondok Pesantren Di Provinsi Riau

Pondok Pesantren (classical Islamic educational institution in Indonesia) uses the classic book strictly and continuously. Students (santri) fanatically follow the book used by the teacher, including in the use of the book of exegesis. Pondok Pesantren in Riau Province uses the book of tafsir differently according to the grouping of the tradition and the teacher's understanding of the Pondokmya. Most of the Pondok Pesantren in Riau Province, using a translation book that is not a yellow book (Arabic Book. This situation tends to eliminate the character of Pondok Pesantren which makes the yellow book (Arabic Book) as the basis and its main characteristic. This paper seeks to see the profile of the book of tafsir, model of understanding and that’s correlation according to relegius jurisprudence on Pondok Pesantren in Riau Province.

Comparison of Image Quality in High Pitch Free Breathing Versus Standard Pitch Breath-Holding Computed Tomographic Pulmonary Angiography.

Background: Pulmonary embolism (PE) is the third most common acute cardiovascular disease. Missed diagnosis is responsible for most preventable deaths associated with PE. Artefacts from cardiac and breathing motion are a main pitfall. Advances in Computed Tomographic imaging have enabled rapid imaging in an attempt to overcome these pitfalls. Objective: To compare image quality when using high pitch free breathing versus standard pitch breath holding Computed Tomographic Pulmonary Angiography (CTPA) using a dual source scanner. Methods: This was a randomised control trial whereby patients referred to the radiology department for CTPA examination for suspected pulmonary embolism were randomly selected into two arms: Arm A underwent the standard CTPA protocol using a pitch of 1.2 with breath-holding instructions while those in arm B underwent the examination using a pitch of 3.2 with quiet free breathing. Two blinded reviewers subjectively assessed the image quality while a single blinded reviewer recorded objective image parameters. The primary endpoint was to demonstrate non-inferiority of high pitch free breathing CTPA. Continuous variables were expressed as mean ± SD. Categorical variables were expressed as frequency (percentage). For calculation of statistically significant differences between both groups, Chi-square test was performed to assess categorical variables and t test for continuous variables. P-values of ≤0.05 were considered statistically significant. Cohen kappa testing was used to assess the degree of agreement between the 2 independent readings, with results expressed in terms of kappa statistics and proportional agreement. Results: A total of 112 patients were randomly selected into the two arms of the study. The patients in the high pitch group received a lower mean radiation dose compared to those in the standard pitch group (P<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in the mean main pulmonary artery attenuation between the two groups (P=0.215). There was no significant difference in the qualitative analysis of the images between the two groups. Inter reader agreement for the subjective measurements ranged from moderate to almost perfect agreement between the 2 independent readers. Conclusion: Main pulmonary artery contrast opacification in high pitch CTPA is non-inferior to standard pitch CTPA using a dual source 256 slice scanner. High pitch dual source CTPA can be performed on all patients with no compromise on the image quality and with the added advantage of reduction in the radiation dose.
