0.1 wt % Palladium/ZrO 2, Manganese oxide and cobalt oxide were synthesized in our laboratory. Zirconia was prepared in the laboratory by precipitation of zirconyl chloride with ammonium hydroxide. Pd/ZrO 2 was prepared by incipient wetness impregnation technique. Cobalt oxide was prepared by solid state mixing of cobalt nitrate and ammonium bicarbonate in an agate mortar at room temperature. Manganese oxide was also prepared by mechanochemical addition of potassium permanganate and Ammonium bicarbonate in a molar ratio of 2:3 respectively. The prepared catalysts were characterized by several physical/analytical methods that include nitrogen adsorption studies (Surface area and Pore Size Analysis), X-Ray Diffractometery, Fourier Transform Infra Red spectroscopy, particle size and Scanning Electron Microscope analysis. Pd/ZrO 2 was tested for the solvent free oxidation of benzyl alcohol and Toluene respectively. The reactions were carried out in liquid phase under mild conditions of temperature and pressure. Molecular oxygen was used as oxidant. The oxidation of BzOH was > 70 % selective towards benzaldehyde formation with a TOF>6000 per hour. Kinetic study showed that Langmuir Hinshelwood (L-H) mechanism was found to be followed when the experimental data was applied to the L-H equation. The oxidation of toluene was more selective towards benzyl alcohol formation in lower reaction temperature regime; however as the reaction temperature was increased the reaction became more selective towards benzoic acid. The main oxidation products were benzyl alcohol, benzaldehyde and benzoic acid however the main product was benzoic acid. Manganese oxide was prepared by solid state mechanochemical addition of potassium permanganate and Ammonium bicarbonate. The synthesized manganese oxide powder was employed for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol in liquid phase using n-heptane as a solvent. The reaction was found to very fast and 100% selective towards the formation of benzaldehyde atxv 363K and atmospheric pressure of oxygen. The reactions were performed at very low reaction temperatures i.e. 323-363K. Cobalt oxide was prepared by was prepared by solid state mechanochemical mixing of cobalt nitrate and ammonium bicarbonate. The synthesized catalyst was employed for the catalytic degradation of two different dyes i.e. Methylene Blue and Congo red. The catalyst was found to be extremely efficient towards the degradation of both these dyes. Both the organic dyes were successfully destructed in a very quick reaction time i.e. 10 minutes. Reactions were carried out in atmospheric conditions and room temperature. Various parameters affecting the degradation performance of the dye were examined such as time, catalyst loading, temperature, initial dye concentrations, speed of agitation and effect of partial pressure of oxygen. The removal percentage of dyes increased with increasing mass of Cobalt oxide up to an optimum mass but decreased with increasing initial concentrations. All the catalysts were heterogeneous in nature, which could be separated easily by simple filtration.

فصل اول: قرآن حکیم میں آیات استفہام کی ضرورت واہمیت

قرآن مجید فصاحت و بلاغت کےاعتبار سے ایک مثالی کتاب ہے۔علم معانی ہو یا علمِ بیان یا علم بلاغت کے ماہرین نے اس کی لسانی وادبی خصوصیات کو نگارشات کا موضوع بنایا ہے۔ فصاحت و بلا غت کی انہی خوبیوں کی بنا پر قرآن مجید کو کلام مبین بھی کہا گیا ہے۔ قرآن مجید میں جہاں ایجاز و اطناب اور ربط و مساوات کے اسالیب نظر آتے ہیں، وہیں تقدیم و تاخیر اور حذف کے اسلوب بھی نمایاں ہیں۔ قرآن مجید کے مختلف و منفرد اسالیب میں سے ایک اہم اسلوب ِ استفہام ہے۔
استفہام عربی زبان کا لفظ ہے جس کے معنی سوال کرنے، جاننے،فہم حاصل کرنے اور استفسار کرنے کے معنوں میں استعمال ہوتا ہے۔ ادب میں استفہام کسی حقیقت سے مخاطب کو آگاہ کرنے ، مخاطب کو غورو فکر کی دعوت دینا، اور اپنی بات کا ثبات کرنا وغیرہ کے معنوں میں مستعمل ہے۔چنانچہ قرآن مجید میں بھی استفہام کا اسلوب بکثرت استعمال کیا گیا ہے۔

Muslim-Christian Relationship in the Context of Status of Prophet Muhammad SAW

The question of the status of Prophet Muhammad has been one of  the most crucial and controversial issue of Muslims-Christian relations since the advent of Islam. In almost every Muslim-Christian encounter, the question of Christian acknowledgement of prophet-hood of Muhammad has been raised. Muslim ask, when we accept and regard Jesus as a prophet, why you (Christian) do not recipro-cate by giving the same status to prophet Muhammad. The present        study is an attempt to analyze the points which  Kenneth Cragg has raised, In response of the Muslims, who say, why the Christian don’t give such respect to Muhammad(SAW)  as the Muslim give to Jesus. In this study I proved that Cragg’s answer is not only against the Holy Quran but also against  The teachings of Gospel and the only reason for this disregard Is prejudicial and polemical.

Development and Evaluation of Cotton Transgenicsfor Improved Fiber Traits

Cotton is the leading fiber crop in the world. For studying the major fiber development specific genes, cDNA libraries were used to establish 1000 ESTs (expressed sequence tags) each from the fast growing fibers of Calotropis procera and Gossypium hirsutum L. Four orthologs of expansins (CpEXPA1, CpEXPA2, CpEXPA3 and CpEXPA4) and four of aquaporins (CpTiP1, CpTiP2, CpPiP1 and CpPiP2) were found to be the most abundantly expressed transcripts in C. procera fiber cells. Cotton fiber ESTs showed two orthologs of expansin, one for aquaporin (GhPiP1) and one transcript for sucrose synthase. The GhPiP1 had 70% amino acid identity to CpPiP1, while no homologue for CpPiP2 was detected in cotton fibers. Real-time PCR data showed that CpPiP2 and CpEXPA3 displayed high abundace of transcripts in C. procera hollow fibers that elongate to more than 45mm. Sucrose synthase transcript was found at its peak in 5-15DPA. The CpPiP2 expression cassette controlled by CaMV 35S promoter was transformed into Nicotiana tabacum, which resulted in highly dense and elongated leaf and stem trichomes. In order to test the individual genes in cotton cv. FH942, the CpEXPA3, CpPiP2 and Susy4 were cloned in pSB219 vector and transformed through Agrobacterium mediated transformation of mechanically incised embryo apices. The ammonium gluphosinate, phosphinothricin selected putative transgenics showed the PCR amplifications uniformly until the six leaf stage. However, at later stages of plant development variability in transgene detection was observed from leaf to leaf, T1 plants showed no respective amplifications. In order to explore the reason for this inconsistency, transformed GUS and GFP expression cassettes showed localized patches for the marker genes. The ChvA and HrCA genes of Agrobacterium genome could not be detected by at any of the plant development stage which excluded the migration of Agrobacterium within the plant tissues. It was inferred that integration of the transgene might have occurred in the somatic cell layers L1 and/or L2 of the embryo apex but not in L3 (germline) cells. It was concluded that direct transformation through apex transformation was not possible as the germline transformants could not be obtained from two thousand and five hundred embryos.
