Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) (Heterorhabditis indica, H. bacteriophora and Steinernema glaseri) were utilized against 4th instar Spodoptera litura at different concentrations (200, 300, 500, 600, and 1000). EPNs at 1000 concentration caused 100 % mortality against Spodoptera litura. Two EPNs species (S. glaseri and H. bacteriophora) were used against different Spodoptera litura larval instars. Data showed that higher mortality was recorded in 2nd larval instar. In another experiment both genera of EPNs were evaluated alone and in combination. Maximum mortality caused in combine treatment. Then bacteria isolated from different species of EPNs were utilized against 5th instar larvae of Spodoptera litura at different concentrations (4×104, 4×105, 4×106 and 4×107) for larval mortality. Mortality increased as concentration of bacterial cells increased. Two bacterial isolates at most effective concentration (4×107) selected from previous experiment were sprayed against different larval stages of Spodoptera litura. Highest mortality was recorded in 2nd larval instar followed by 5th, 3rd and 4th larval instar. Bacterial metabolites isolated from bacteria were utilized against Spodoptera litura at different concentrations (1%, 10%, 20% and 40%) in petri plate to assess larval mortality. Higher concentration (40%) caused maximum mortality against Spodoptera litura. The stored EPNs, cells and metabolites were taken, diluted and assessed for the efficacy against Spodoptera litura. Mortality was decreased as the storage time increased. Fresh suspension caused maximum mortality against Spodoptera litura. Plants were treated with EPNs, bacterial cell suspension and metabolites after 3 days of larval feeding, before larval feeding and at the same time. Results showed that EPNs, bacteria and metabolites applied at the same time with larval feeding caused maximum mortality.

An elaborate endeavor in studying world religions would glaringly uncover the fact that most of the religions have enacted rules to follow, pertinent to daily livelihood. Such are the set of rules that the followers of the religion must follow. These rules very much include the rules about edibles. The food is something upon which not only human sustenance rests but it also keeps the human soul alive. For the same very reason we find religious and scientific prohibitions on things that are harmful for humans and if consumed evil takes the better of man’s heart, bringing upon him moral redundancy and sinister way of life. Such people are deprived of peace and piety. They ultimately not only suffer unbearable individual loss but also become a burden onto the society, country and nation

Influence of Consumer Innovativeness, Dogmatism, Social Character and Need for Uniques on New Product Adoption: A Rural Perspective

Purpose: This study provides a theoretical framework that explores the personality traits that influence new product adoption in rural environment. Five personality traits form part of the framework, namely; consumer innovativeness, dogmatism, social character (inner and other directed), and need for uniqueness. This study will pave a way in understanding the potential behavior of consumers toward adoption of a newly introduced product in a given environment. Following the conceptualization of NPA, a conceptual model was proposed which represents five hypotheses: two hypotheses were supported and three hypotheses were not supported. Methodology: The data was collected from selected (rural) areas of upper Sindh province of Pakistan using convenient sampling procedure; there were 430 respondents in the sample. Five-point Likert scale was adapted for the study, and a pilot test was used to confirm the validity of the scales and the correctness of the datagathering procedure. Following the data gathering and coding, validity and reliability tests were carried out on the entire sample. Keeping in view various constructs of conceptual model, the proposed hypotheses were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (AMOS v.20) to test the impact of the constructs on NPA. Findings and contribution of research: The evidence related to the model suggests that consumer innovativeness and need for uniqueness are the dominant factors (traits) in adopting a new product whereas social character (ID /OD), and dogmatism have no significant impact on new product adoption behavior, it suggests that consumer innovativeness and need for uniqueness traits of consumer personality are dominant factors in adopting a new fashion and clothing product in rural market. Research Limitations: First; the results of this study may not be appropriate for generalizing across the majority of Pakistani consumers, and in a global context. Second; the study is focusing only on fashion and clothing product category; third, only selected personality traits are examined in the study. Implications: By examining the potential behavior of rural consumers, the study facilitates the possibility of consumer behavior research that, in new product adoption decision consumer personality (traits) should have a significant contribution, thus providing a better understanding of influence of their personality traits on new product adoption.
