Most of the farmers of irrigated areas cultivate their fields with traditional tillage practices which increase the cost of production as well as delaying sowing which has adverse effects on crop growth and yield. In addition towards tillage, straw managing is a key factor for better crop growth and yield. Two field trials were conducted to estimate the “Crop residual management techniques with different tillage practices in a rice-wheat cropping system” at the Post Graduate Agricultural Research Station (PARS), University of Agriculture, Faisalabad during 2007-08 and 2008-09. Both the experiments were laid out on a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with split plot arrangement using four replications, in a net plot size of 10 m x 20 m. In the first experiment three tillage systems (conventional tillage, minimum tillage and zero tillage) were used in sub plots and straw management (removal of rice straw and burning of rice straw) in main plot was applied. Tillage systems significantly influenced soil physical properties, growth and yield characteristics as well as wheat yield. Reducing tillage improved soil structure and increased soil bulk density which led to higher crop yield. Happy seeder plots produced higher yield and yield components in comparison with other tillage systems. Wheat yield with happy seeder plots were 18% and 15 % higher than minimum and conventionally tilled plots respectively. Generally, differences between removal of rice straw and burning of rice straw were more pronounced; removal of rice straw had positive influence on growth, yield components, yield and grain quality. Increased grain weight per spike, 1000-grain weight and grain yield were recorded with burning of rice straw. Wheat yield with removal of rice straw was 17.5% and 14.55% higher than burning of rice straw respectively. The happy seeder yield was 5.2 t/ ha -1 which was higher in comparison with other tillage practices. Zero tillage showed positive association with protein contents but negative association with carbohydrate contents. Zero tillage was found best among all other tillage practices in rice-wheat cropping system of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan.
If one accepts the premise of the Old Testament that Adam was created in the image of God, this implies that the divine stamp gives human beings a high value of worth. In similar vein, the Quran says: Surely we have accorded dignity to the Sons of Man. So too, in the Bhagavad-Gita: Who sees his Lord Within every creature deathlessly dwelling amidst the mortal: That man sees truly. Put another way, in a religious context, every human being is considered sacred. Believing in a common universal Divine force, which gives rise to a common humanity and from this flows a universality of certain rights. Since the rights stem from a divine source, they are inalienable by mortal authority. This concept is found not only in the Judaeo-Christian tradition but in Islam in its more advanced and wider perspective. The present study is an attempt to provide an epilogue on human rights given in the Qur’an and Sunnah. It is an in-depth analysis of Human Rights and dignity of person, encompassing its various dimensions. The study is an attempt to understand the true philosophy of human rights in Islam. It aims at providing an ethical and legal basis for the realization of implementation of human rights in the world states in general and in the Muslim states in particular.
Offshore software development model is one of the most successful development models being adopted by different worldwide organizations. The main reason behind the offshore development is the higher cost of the software development in the local industry. So the organizations take the projects from the local industry and send their projects to their offshore offices where development cost is significantly lower. In countries like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Philippines etc, most of the software companies are working as offshore development offices. These software companies are using different software development methodologies like Waterfall, Spiral, Iterative, Incremental and Agile. The projects developed by these software companies face time, cost and quality constraints because of opting inappropriate software development lifecycles. A detailed study is conducted by gathering data from different offshore software companies in Pakistan and then based upon this data their common problems are identified. The major problems faced by the software companies in Pakistan include non static and ambiguous nature of requirements which cause the software developers to make certain assumptions. There is no direct interaction between the software developers and the clients, so the product developed is not an exact match of the client requirements and expectations. These issues are major bottleneck in delivering the quality software products in case of offshore development in Pakistan. We propose a new process model that addresses the needs of the onshore/offshore software development industry.
