The dietary significance of sportsman drink can be enhanced through additional fermentation using Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophillus. Whey play important role in the sports nutrition due to high quality of proteins and essential amino acids. The present study was carried out to characterize locally available whey i.e. Cheddar, Mozzarella and Paneer whey for physico- chemical and nutritional attributes followed by manufacturing of sportsman drink with normal as well as additional fermentation. The physico-chemical analyses elucidated high pH (5.41 ± 0.16), crude protein (0.83 ± 0.03 %), fat (0.25 ± 0.01 %), lactose (4.95 ± 0.21 %) and total solids (6.55 ± 0.27 %) in Cheddar whey whereas acidity (0.30 ± 0.01) and ash content (0.56 ± 0.02) in Paneer whey while total plate count (TPC) was slightly high (3.17 ± 0.09 x 104 cfu/ml) in Mozzarella whey. The results regarding mineral analysis indicated that whey contain appreciable amount of calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. Furthermore, amino acid profile elucidated it a complete and balanced source of essential and non-essential amino acids. Amongst essential amino acids, highest values was recorded for branched chain amino acids like leucine (73.16±3.09) followed by lysine (61.56±0.61) and valine (44.13±1.86) mg/g protein. Nine drink formulations were prepared using Cheddar, Mozzarella and Paneer whey alone and in combination with normal fermentation as well as additional fermentation. The developed sportsman drinks were evaluated for nutritional quality with special reference to amino acids, viscosity and total plate count along with sensory response during two month storage. The results regarding hedonic response elaborated highest consumer acceptability of sportsman drink having Cheddar whey with additional fermentation. Drink having Cheddar whey with additional fermentation was further selected on the basis of nutritional, physico-chemical and sensory profiling for biological evaluation. Biological evaluation of selected sportsman drink (T4) revealed highest total digestibility (96.71±1.65%), biological value (98.01±1.55%), net protein utilization (87.31±0.86%), protein efficiency ratio (3.42±0.09), net protein ratio (5.91±0.08%) and protein digestibility corrected amino acid score (97.57±2.01%). From the instant research, it is concluded that whey based drinks have a great potential to improve the gut health and muscular mass required by the sportsman.

ANALISIS MANAJEMEN LABORATORIUM IPA TERHADAP KOMPETENSI PESERTA DIDIK

Natural Sciences learning laboratory activities are an integral part of teaching and learning activities, This shows how important the role of laboratory activities to achieve the goals of science education. Through laboratory activities, students will be given the opportunity to encourage curiosity and the desire to try, test and reason the theories obtained. The purpose of this study was to analyze the management of a science laboratory in SMP Negeri 4 Sojol. The research method uses qualitative methods and descriptive analysis. The research subjects were the head of the laboratory and the science subject teacher and the students at SMP Negeri 4 Sojol. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and student learning outcomes.  Based on the results of the study, the availability of natural science practicum tools in SMP Negeri 4 Sojol, the average availability of practical tools and materials 68.33% classified as complete categories, the average presentation of the feasibility of practical tools and materials 90.67% included in the excellent category based on the Ministry of Education number 24 of 2007. The effectiveness of practicum implementation in SMP Negeri 4 Sojol is classified as effective category with an average presentation of practicum at 85%. Coupled with an average increase in cognitive competencies average preetest 58 increase in posttest by as much as 87 in addition to the average value of competence in the areas of psychomotor average preetest obtained 60 and posttest 90 showed a significant increase competency knowledge and skills of learners. Success in the cognitive domain will also have a positive impact on the development of the psychomotor domain (skills) of students. Management of laboratory facilities and infrastructure planning in improving the quality of learning in schools must be planned by the head of the laboratory, planning science teachers by preparing learning tools and identifying the subject matter to be practiced in the laboratory, laboratory administration governance supported by good organization from the leadership of policy makers in school. Implementation of laboratory facilities and infrastructure management in improving the quality of learning in schools including procurement, inventory, storage, structuring, use, and maintenance. Supervision carried out by the principal is in accordance with the provisions, to be more efficient the school should make a program or schedule of supervision processes to be more controlled and run well and smoothly.

Development and Validation of Emotional Intelligence Model and Scale: A Case of Hypermarkets of Pakistan

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is considered to be an important attribute to succeed at top level of management and is a distinguishing factor among top performing employees at workplace. However, the discrepancy in the elements of EQ models entails to develop an indigenous EQ measure that exists especially in the context of Pakistan’s workplace. Gap also points towards a holistic, multilevel and sequential model with a carefully validated scale. To address aforesaid shortcomings an indigenous model for EQ was proposed. A comprehensive theoretical analysis for EQ dimensions helped to identify the domain of new content. All crucial elements of existing EQ models were regrouped into three constructs of EA, EL and EM to present a logical underpinning. A scale (EQFS©1) was developed based on the hypothesized relationship of proposed model’s factor structures and linear relationships of the constructs of model. Operational definitions were generated and used to phrase scale items (candidate items). Subject matter experts’ opinion helped refine item thereby establishing Face and Content Validity. The raw measurement scale was pre-tested in a pilot study (Razzaq & Aftab, 2015) and based on the results the final scale was refined and floated to the managers of 4 hypermarkets generating 339 valid responses. Cronbach alpha was used for internal consistency of EQFS and was validated through Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis all the hypothesized relations at first, second and third order factor analysis were accepted. A comprehensive strategy was adopted for Validity analysis for establishing content, criterion and construct validity. Model was tested through Structural Equational Modelling for EQFS© the mediating effect of EL with EA and EM was established. Except for the convergent validity with BarOn EQi scale the statistical significance of validities were established. The proposed Model disambiguate EI as exhaustibly as possible in a hierarchical and sequential manner to allow reasoning about their structure working towards an integrated framework of all the elements of influential EI models as suggested by practitioners. The proposed model and EQFS© will be a valuable tool for managers and academia and an important theoretical contribution to EQ literature.
