Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of low crude protein (CP) diets with increased or constant metabolizable energy to crude protein (ME:CP) ratios supplemented with limiting amino acids (AA) on the performance of broilers. Experiment 1 was conducted to study the effect of lowering dietary CP with optimum limiting AA levels on the performance of broilers from 1 to 35 days of age. Four experimental diets were formulated to have four levels of CP as 23, 22, 21 & 20% in starter phase; 22, 21, 20 & 19% in grower phase and 20, 19, 18 & 17% in finisher phase, respectively. All diets were isocaloric within a phase (2925, 3075 & 3125 kcal/kg ME for starter, grower and finisher periods, respectively). Digestible lysine was maintained at 1.10, 1.02 and 0.90% of the diet in starter, grower and finisher periods, respectively. Results showed that the dietary CP level could be reduced without harmful effects on the growth performance, body composition and carcass characteristics when supplemented with limiting AA. Experiment 2 was conducted to determine the effect of low CP diets with constant ME:CP on the performance of broilers from 1 to 35 days of age. Four experimental diets were formulated to have four levels of CP and ME, respectively, in each phase: 23, 22, 21 and 20% CP, with 3036, 2904, 2772 and 2640 kcal/kg in starter phase; 22, 21, 20 and 19% CP, with 3146, 3003, 2860 and 2717 kcal/kg in grower phase; and 20, 19, 18 and 17% CP, with 3100, 2945, 2790 and 2635 kcal/kg in finisher phase. Digestible lysine was maintained at 1.10, 1.02 and 0.90% of the diet in starter, grower and finisher periods, respectively. Results showed that chicks fed low CP diets with constant energy to protein ratio grew slower, used feed less efficiently and retained more fat than chicks fed the control diets even when standard levels of critical AA were maintained in the diets. In conclusion, reducing the dietary CP level provided substantial economic returns without affecting the performance of broilers. However, reduction of dietary CP with constant ME:CP ratio resulted in reduced broiler performance and carcass composition.

Since the past few years, muslims all over the world are being brutally accused of severe extremism. Many muslims now a days condemn terrorism and extremism and are not willing to connect these terms with the religion Islam. However there are a few who are in favour of these things. Terrorism is basically caused by a number of different acts of brutality. Its actually a chain reaction caused by the conspiracies against Islam, double standards of different super powers and injustice to the convicted and oppressed. Killings of the innocent and unarmed in the name of aggression is some thing which is totally against the Islamic teachings. Things become more complicated and dangerous when such acts of vandalism are done in the name of religion. Although many goals of ISIS are Islam based, however these very goals are achieved through non-Islamic ways. They feel no shame and go against all the ethics and moral values to reach their goals. Hence causing much more damage to their own muslim fellows. Even the cemetries are no more safe. They kill their opponents in the worst possible way and disrespect the dead bodies by kicking and hanging them to the trees. If this situation persists, it is inevitable that ISIS might replace the Halaku Khan and Genghiz Khan is brutality.

Impact of Biochar on Chromium Uptake by Maize Grown in Tannery Polluted Soil

Leather industry is one of the leading industries in Pakistan. However, environmental management for this industry is generally ignored. Chromium (Cr) is a heavy metal used for tanning of leather and discharged into soil through waste water. It is toxic to plants and animals even at low concentration and causes human health hazards through food chain. Organic amendments such as compost and biochar are alternatives to expensive and could lower the pollutant associated risk. Elemental sulfur (ES) as inorganic amendments could alter the Cr dynamics and lowered the toxicity by adsorption on biochar surfaces. A survey of tannery area of District Kasur (K) and Sialkot (S) was conducted to check the Cr toxicity level in different location and soil was collected. The present research project was planned with four independent experiments focusing on major issues: (i) Evaluation of feedstock and pyrolytic temperature for biochar production on the basis of maximum adsorption of Cr (ii) Effect of biochar on different maize cultivars grown in tannery polluted soil (iii) Impact of biochar with compost on Cr tolerance in maize cultivars (iv) Effect of biochar with elemental sulfur on Cr dynamics in soil to reduce uptake in maize. In evaluation of biochar, sugarcane bagasse (SB) prepared at 350oC applied at rate of 3% maximum adsorb the Cr and improved the soil pH, electrical conductivity (EC), cation exchange capacity (CEC) and organic carbon (OC). After development of best adsorbent biochar, it was further evaluated on different maize cultivars grown in tannery polluted soil. Biochar application in both K and S soil were significantly improved the plant growth, physiological and biochemical attributes and decreased the concentration of Cr (VI) and Cr (III) in maize cultivars. Cultivar P-1543 performed better followed by NK-8441, NK-8711 and FH-985 in both K and S soils. Furthermore, biochar was evaluated with compost (1:1) on Cr tolerance in maize cultivars (P-1543 and NK-8441) grown in tannery polluted soil. It was observed that combined application of biochar and compost showed better results than their sole application. In comparison of both soil, Cr toxicity were more effected the maize growth in Sialkot soil. In the last trial, more polluted Sialkot soil was ameliorated. Biochar was compared with ES on Cr dynamics in tannery polluted K and S soil. It was observed that biochar application with ES improved the maize growth by reduced the toxicity of Cr in K as well S Soil. Conclusively, biochar (SB-350oC) application at rate of 3% was effective in amelioration of tannery polluted soil and combine application of biochar with compost and ES were better improved the maize growth.
