In nature, biotic and abiotic stresses impose negative effects on all life forms. Being a sessile life habitat, plant always exposed to these stresses. Plant when subjected to stress condition, always resulted in a reduced growth. Among the abiotic stresses, salinity is a major cause often hindering plant growth which inturn curtails the crops yield. To lessen the impacts of salinity i.e. alleviation for the betterment of plant growth and crop yield is the matter of interest in the current research scenario. Plant-derived smoke obtaining from burning vegetation have been using in agricultural and horticultural since long. Being a cheap and environment friendly source, smoke play an important role in the enhancement of crops yield. Plant derived smoke possesses alleviation potential for number of stresses. The present research work was conducted to investigate the effect of Cymbopogon jawaracusa smoke extracts (1:100, 1:200,1:300,1:400 and 1:500 dilutions) on physiological and biochemical aspects of maize (Zea mays L.) under different concentrations of NaCl (50,100, 150, 200 and 250 mM). To investigate the alleviation potential of smoke, seeds were primed for 24 h with smoke solution and then subjected to salt stress. Obtained results showed that seed germination percentage was improved up to 93% with smoke as compared to control (70%). Similarly, seedling vigor in term of root and shoot length, fresh and dry weights were also significantly increased in plants raised from seeds primed with smoke extracts. Priming of seeds with smoke solution alleviated the adverse effects of salt stress. Ions analysis indicated that priming with smoke solution increased the level of potassium and calcium while reduced the level of sodium in the exposed plants. In addition, the levels of photosynthetic pigments, total nitrogen and protein contents were also improved with the application of seed priming techniques by using plant smoke solution as compared to salt stressed plants. Salt stress increased the level of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) as well as antioxidants in the exposed maize seedlings. Seed priming with smoke solution showed alleviation of stress and the level of ROS as well as antioxidants remained lowered although the seedlings were exposed to salt stress. Findings of this study showed that smoke solution has the potential to alleviate the toxic effects of saline condition as well as can increase the productivity in plants

Islam is a religion based on nature and Shariah is a law which lays down rules for Muslims to follow which also allows us to move forward with the advancements in the world. It has a unique way of life for any person of any time to follow which cannot be found in any other religion. However, any development which takes place creates new problems and new obstacles which can only be manoeuvred by the researchers and scholars of that specific time who will decide the right use of that commodity and explain the commodity. This will allow the new invention to be utilised fully. Moreover, in this world many people want to look their best and feel their best and will be willing to go through many ways for their ideal look. With this desire, many jobs become associated with achieving this for people. Nonetheless, this leads to people putting their time, money and effort into something which can risk their entire life which can result in either an advantage or disadvantage. Moreover, they should know whether this is against their religious values. Those acts which cross your religious boundaries and are considered “haram”or not permitted are wrong. Thus, it is necessary for us to first consider whether it is crossing the boundaries and proving to be disadvantageous for you so that the wrong norms and values are not transmitted into the future generations.

Exploring Differences in Physics Achievements in Secondary Schools in District Headquarter Skardu Gilgit-Baltistan: Comparisons Across Gender and School System

The topic of disparities in achievement for gender and public and private school systems in different subjects has been in public domain for many years. However, this study had a special interest in physics as it is one of the core subjects of the national curriculum of Pakistan. The purpose of the study was to explore the differences in physics achievement test scores across gender and schools systems in district Skardu Gilgit-Baltistan. Using a cross-sectional survey design, Physics Achievement Test (PAT), developed and validated as part of the study, was directly administered to 358 grade 10 students who were selected randomly from public (n=159) and private (n=199) schools. The selected sample represented boys (n=209) and girls (n=149). Results of the study illustrated that students' overall performance on PAT was only 34% of the total score (35) which was not encouraging. Students' performance in MCQs was better as compared to CRQs. Among PAT four content domains, students scored above overall average only in mechanics. Further, among three levels of cognitions, students demonstrated better skills in applying their knowledge to solve routine problems (i.e. application) as compared to other two levels of cognition (knowledge and reasoning). The study also reported no significant difference in the overall achievements of boys and girls (p > 0.05); however, significant differences in MCQs, content domain of electricity & magnetism and highest level of cognition (reasoning) favored boys. Interesting patterns of differences in students' achievements across gender appeared within public and private schools systems. Girls outperformed boys in public school system (p < 0.05) while the difference favored boys in private school system (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the difference in the achievements across the two systems of schools was in favor of private schools (p < 0.05) all in MCQs, CRQs, content and cognitive domains. This study presents significant insights into students' achievements across gender and schools systems - in the context of secondary school physics achievement - for policy and practice. Physics Achievement Test (PAT) would be a valuable contribution in the literature. Those who want to take the same line of inquiry can adapt PAT to conduct large scale studies.
