Apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) is a highly nutritious fruit with a variety of bioactive health promoting components. In the first experiment, among the tested varieties, Habi extracted with 80% methanol maintained the higher total phenolic contents, flavonoid contents, radicle scavenging activity and were equally good in regards to antibacterial potential against Escherichia coli, Salmonella entritidis, Pseudomonas flourescens and Helicobacter pylori. These collected extracts were then examined against different solvents. Similar trend was also observed in TPC, TFC, DPPH activity and antimicrobial activities against tested bacteria with butanol extracts of the Habi variety. In the second experiment, comparatively a higher TPC, TFC and DPPH activity was recorded in 4 hrs of extraction time with 40oC temperature at deep orange stage. Similar trend was also recorded in regards to antibacterial activities against tested pathogen respectively. The results also confirmed the higher potential of butanol then other counterparts indicating the maximum values of TPC, TFC and DPPH activity and antibacterial activities against four tested pathogens. In the third experiment, the spectrum of FTIR spectroscopy confirmed the presence of polyphenolic compounds in these extracts. HPLC analysis revealed presence of various bioactive compounds especially chlorogenic acid in butanol extract. These fractions also showed a significant antibacterial activity against four pathogens. This organism showed sensitivity to a dose of 20 μg/ml. It was further found that about 8.4 and 3.8 μg/ml of CA was present in one fruit on fresh and dry weight basis. Finally, H. pylori positive patients were identified followed by a dose of fresh and dried Habi variety to male and female patients for the period of 20 days. Later on, the results suggested that three dried apricots showed promising effects in the urease (up to 37.5%) and IgG (15.8%) of positive patients. So, three dried apricots (approx. 15 gm) are recommended for eradication of infection.

Khula Between Family Code Modified by Order 05-02 and Islamic Jurisprudence

Just as a man can resort to divorce when he does not love his wife, the Islamic Law (Sharīa„h) gives the woman the right to end her marriage, if she does not love her husband. However, she will have to repay her the dowry paid to her unless there are circumstances in which a judge could force his husband to pronounce Ṭalaq without compensation from his wife. The Family Code puts an end to an abuse of the rule by judges who demanded the consent of the husband. She asserted that the demand for Khula„ was no longer conditional on the husband's acceptance. As a result, the expression "without the consent of the husband" was introduced in 2005, in Article 54 of the Family Code.

Promoting the “Notion of Cultural Diversity” in Grade Xii Students in a Government College Sukkur, Sindh

As Pakistan is becoming a more culturally and ethnically diverse nation, public schools, colleges and universities are alongside becoming more diverse as well. According to National Curriculum for Civics (2009), one of the basic aims of the Civic education is to inculcate in students values of peaceful co-existence with all citizens of the country and all countries of the world. Unfortunately, the scenario of Pakistani classrooms, in particular, the Civics Education classroom does not meet the diverse cultural needs of the students. Thus, there is a serious mismatch between the outcomes of curriculum and the planning and implementation of teaching and learning experiences. In order to explore how cultural diversity can be promoted among higher secondary students, a small scale action research was conducted. Two cycles of action research were conducted within the framework of action research in grade XII of a public college of Sindh, Pakistan. The participants of the study were four focused students of grade-XII and subject teacher of Civics. The whole college context was studied to gain understanding of what was going on. The researcher followed the steps of planning, implementation, observation and reflections. Data were gathered through interviews of the participant teacher, classroom observations, documents analysis, field notes and reflective journals. The ongoing analysis continued side by side with data collection. The data reveal that cultural diversity among students from higher secondary public school level can be developed by orienting them to the fundamental concepts of diversity, creating appreciation for unique and positive qualities of oneself, the other and our different cultures, and also discussing the problems that arise due to cultural discrimination. Different pedagogies which involve reflection on and expression of personal and collective experiences and scenarios used for critical thinking can be beneficial for inculcating the above mentioned concepts and attitudes in students. Based on the findings some implications and recommendations are put forward in the concluding chapter.
