ڈاکٹر علامہ محمد اقبالؒ

ڈاکٹر علامہ محمد اقبالؒ (۱۸۷۷ء ۔ ۱۹۳۸ء) سیالکوٹ کے محلہ چوڑی گراں میں پیدا ہوئے۔ ’’اسرارِ خودی‘‘ علامہ کی پہلی شعری تصنیف ہے جو ۱۲ ستمبر ۱۹۱۵ء میں شائع ہوئی۔ یہ کتاب فارسی زبان میں فلسفہ خودی کے موضوع پر لکھی گئی ہے۔ کیمبرج یونیورسٹی کے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نکلسن نے اس کا انگریزی زبان میں ترجمہ کیا۔ دوسری کتاب رموز بے خودی ۱۰ اپریل ۱۹۱۸ء میں شائع ہوئی۔ یہ کتاب اسرارِ خودی ہی کی توسیع تھی اور تسلسلِ خیال۔ علامہ نے اسے اسرارِ خودی خودی کا حصہ دوم قرار دیا۔(۱۹۹) ’’پیامِ مشرق‘‘ علامہ اقبال کی تیسری تصنیف ہے۔ یہ شعری مجموعہ فارسی زبان میں ہے جو ۹ مئی ۱۹۲۳ء میں شائع ہوا۔ جرمنی کے شہرت یافتہ مستشرق ڈاکٹر ہانسی مائنکے نے اس شعری مجموعے کا جرمنی زبان میں ترجمہ کیا۔ اقبال کا چوتھا شعری مجموعہ ’’بانگ درا‘‘ اردو زبان میں ۳ ستمبر ۱۹۲۴ء میں شائع ہوا۔ ’’بانگِ درا‘‘ میں اقبال کا ابتدائی اردو کلام ہے۔ پہلے حصے میں ابتداء سے ۱۹۰۵ء تک کا کلام اور دوسرے حصے میں ۱۹۰۵ء سے ۱۹۰۸ء تک کا کلام ہے۔ ’’زبورِ عجم‘‘ اقبال کا پانچواں شعری مجموعہ ہے جو جون ۱۹۲۷ء میں شائع ہوا۔ یہ مجموعہ فارسی زبان میں ہے۔ ’’جاوید نامہ‘‘ اقبال کا چھٹا فارسی شعری مجموعہ ہے جو فروری ۱۹۳۲ء میں شائع ہوا۔ ’’مسافر‘‘ (مثنوی) کا آغاز اقبال کے سفرِ افغانستان سے واپسی پر ہوا۔ اس کی اشاعت ۱۹۳۴ء میں ہوئی۔ ’’بالِ جبریل‘‘ اقبال کا ساتواں اردو شعری مجموعہ ہے جو جنوری ۱۹۳۵ء میں شائع ہوا۔ یہ مجموعہ غزلیات اور مختلف عنوانات پر نظموں پر مشتمل ہے۔ اقبال کا آٹھواں شعری مجموعہ ’’ضربِ کلیم‘‘ جولائی ۱۹۳۲ء میں شائع ہوا۔ یہ مجموعہ مختلف عنوانات پر نظموں پر مشتمل ہے۔

نواں مجموعہ مثنوی ’’پس چہ باید کرداے اقوامِ مشرق‘‘ ہے جس کی اشاعت اکتوبر ۱۹۳۲ء کو ہوئی۔ ’’ارمغان حجاز‘‘ اقبال کا دسواں شعری مجموعہ جو فارسی اور اردو کلام پر مشتمل ہے۔ اس کی اشاعت نومبر ۱۹۳۸ء میں ہوئی۔

Allah Almighty had created man with the instinct to choose between good and evil. It is nature that being a human to be indulged in some activity unconsciously and then to realize and feel sorry for the crime committed. To err is human and to forgive Devine. So sins should not be treated as a single entity for there are of various types, ranging from the small mild ones to the big severe ones, thus dividing people who commit them accordingly. When our father and mother, ate from the forbidden tree, which was wrong, they realized it there and then, and instantly felt pain and remorse and abstained from it and declared repentance with humility and knocked the door of Allah for mercy and forgiveness. Allah the almighty heard their prayers and embraced them in his mercy and forgave their sin, for he is most gracious, and most merciful. Similarly our prophet has set an ideal for treating the sinners, he did not turn his face away from them nor did he declare abandoning them or excommunicating them or even counting them as dirt that should be avoided or looked down upon. He treated them with an open heart and with utmost compassion, sympathy and tolerance, and took them by the hand to the righteous path, his sympathy was always present, a sun that never sets. Effect of Saline And/Or Sodic Waters on Growth, Ionic Concentration and Biochemical Changes in Sunflower Helianthus Annuus L.

Scarcity of good quality irrigation water is one of the crop limiting factors in Pakistan. Information on the relative tolerance of different crop genotypes is necessary for the successful management of salt affected land and water. To investigate the effect of saline and/or sodic waters on growth, ionic concentration and biochemical changes in sunflower, a series of solution culture and pot experiments were conducted. Initially, 10 sunflower genotypes were grown for 30 days in hydroponics using five levels of saline and/or sodic water;T 1 (control), T 2 (EC 10.0 dS m -1 ), T 3 (SAR 20.0 mmol L -1 ) 1/2 , T 4 (RSC 5.4 mmol c L -1 ), T 5 (EC 10.0 dS m -1 ) + (SAR 20.0 mmol L -1 ) 1/2 + (RSC 5.4 mmol c L -1 ). On the basis of biomass accumulation and K + : Na + , ratio SF-187 and Hysun-33 emerged as salt tolerant and salt sensitive genotypes respectively. Subsequently, growth and yield response of these genotypes was evaluated in soil culture under various saline and/or sodic water treatments. Although, growth and yield of both genotypes decreased under saline and/or sodic water treatments but SF-187 produced a significantly (P ≤0.05) higher yield as compared to Hysun-33. In the next pot studies, Ca and Si were used @100 mg kg -1 soil to investigate their mitigating effect using same levels of saline and/or sodic water as above. Results revealed that calcium application partially offset the deleterious effects of saline and/or sodic waters and improved yield under RSC-water. However, Si significantly improved growth and yield of sunflower under saline and/or sodic water irrigation. The beneficial effects of Si were more pronounced in salt sensitive genotypes than in salt tolerant genotypes. Same sunflower genotypes when grown in solution culture, salinized with 100 mM NaCl revealed that 1 mM Si significantly enhanced activities of antioxidant enzymes as compared to 5 mM Ca. Finally, both sunflower genotypes were grown in pot culture and irrigated with saline sodic water. The results confirmed that Si alleviated salt stress and enhanced plant growth by stimulating activities of antioxidant enzymes and lowering lipid peroxidation in sunflower. Major mechanisms of Si mediated salt tolerance in sunflower include the maintenance of higher K + /Na + ratio, reduced membrane lipid peroxidation and enhanced antioxidative mechanism.
